Week of September 15-21

After some relative quiet in the previous week, StarCraft II competition flared up in the third week of September with a jam-packed slate of tournaments. Not only did we get five "weekly"-style cups, but the TLMC test tournament added four match days with high-level teamplay action (not to mention RSL Season 2's finale). herO ended up being the biggest beneficiary of the packed schedule, winning a rare cup quadruple on the week.

September 15: WardiTV Mondays #51

Clem was not present to welcome Wardi back to his namesake Monday cup, leaving his rivals herO and MaxPax as the prohibitive favorites. Some quirky seeding saw herO take down MaxPax 2-1 in the semis, which ended up being something of a 'true finals' before herO's ultimate 3-1 triumph over Cure (VOD). While Cure put up a respectable fight—laying down his cheesy weaponry to play some fairly straight-up games—we all know what the likely outcome of TvP against herO is when Clem isn't involved.

September 15: Monday Night Weeklies #23

MaxPax didn't have to wait long to get revenge on herO, as a few hours later he bested him in consecutive series to win Monday Night Weeklies #23 (VOD). Overall, MaxPax's run was reminiscent of his old days of total PvP dominance, winning the entire cup by mostly playing the Protoss mirror (he did have to overcome a 0-2 deficit against herO in the grand finals).

September 16: PiGosaur Cup #49

With neither MaxPax nor Clem to challenge him in PiGosaur Cup, remaining cup trinity member herO made a meal of the bracket to win his second tourney of the week (VOD).

September 17: LiuLi Cup September #2 / Weekly #6

herO completed his weekly triple on the following day, taking down all challengers in the LiuLi Cup. In a rare turn of events, a Zerg player actually reached the finals of one of the weekly cups, with Solar coming to face herO in the finals. While Solar played a swarming, mass-Hydralisk style to perfection in his semifinals win against MaxPax, herO's good use of Oracle harassment and unpredictable mid-game attacks prevented Solar from repeating that performance in the finals (VOD).

September 20: Korean StarCraft League #80

The slew of cup events on the week saw herO win a rare weekly quadruple(?), as he took his fourth cup win of the week in the KSL. This time, it was herO's turn to flex his PvP skills, as he defeated NightMare, Trigger, and Classic on his way to victory (VOD).

The week also featured a hefty dose of teamplay action, as the WardiTV TLMC tournament saw top players try out the new ladder map candidates. Besides a number of traditional tournaments, Wardi also rolled out a unique all-kill style 2v2 event that channelled the spirit of GSTL and WTL in a true teamleague format (VODs).

This is wrong because MaxPax played Nicoract.

Unless Nicoract played Protoss, which I guess is possible...
