Serral getting worried about Zest is one of the most unexpected yet hilarious things of the year already. And it's the first tournament of the season.
Every 60 seconds in Africa, a minute passes.

good thing they didn't use the "We won't back down from a fight" song for this series intro

He did lose to hurricane. Zest isn't beyond playing that kind of protoss.

Serral's biggest "weakness" is defending early timings. I don't get why Inno decided to play straight up 3cc for three games. Maybe he didn't really feel comfortable playing other builds.

If he had a week time maybe he would have had 5 builds. With the time he had the most he could manage to come up with was the game 2 build.

Inno is very good at preparation formats for a reason.

Yeah, he's not good at implementing special stuff on the fly. But his build also didn't look too sharp against Solar. If he fails to do damage with the drops, zerg just rolls over him. (Pro gamer zerg that is, Inno would shit on 99,9% of all players with his raw mechanics.)
first we make expand, then we defense it.

He’s the Tom Brady of SC2, wins so much that at some point it becomes too predictable and people want something different, but he still just keeps winning.

He's not Tom Brady because he does not cheat

I really miss when tournaments were more interesting and there was great potential for dramatic underdog storylines. May not always reflect who the best is but it was just incredibly fun to have stories like duckdeok, pigbaby, sting, stardust, the random lot of gsl winners (especially seed and jjakji) among others. Never mind the insane MLG tournaments with massive open brackets or the oddities of up&down matches in gsl - I would be happy just to have one good story in one big tournament. miss the feeling of wide-eyed wonder so much.

I mean he destroyed every Zerg in his group during group stage so he might actually see something that scares him. Serral is typically vulnerable to timing attacks vs Protoss, and that’s how Zest has been winning
I used to play random, but for you I play very specifically.

More of a comment on how Zest has been harmless against top Zergs for 3 years and now even has Serral worried.

ESL should create a rule where all players must play as random. That alone would make things so much more interesting

I wouldn’t say that Tom Brady cheats, but the Patriots have been caught doing shady stuff, making him automatically to blame. But every NFL team cheats in similar ways so...

I think it's not Serral whos responsible for "boring" tournaments but rather how the game developed. This is the first time in ~9 years of SC II where I'm genuinely bored with a tournament because I feel like I've already seen every single game that is beeing played. No matter if ZvP, PvP, ZvZ, TvP, TvT,....
Although this game will get it's support over the next three years, I just can't see myself watching more than one or two tournaments per year unless they release another addon, new units or change/add mechanics.

When did that change? I recall a time where terran were winning weekenders left and right with only marginal success in long form prepared format tournaments.

It's an old game with old players.

At least it's not Brood War. I'm watching ASL and Tastosis are still raving about Flash. Imagine 12 years of Serral.
I bear this sig to commemorate the loss of the team icon that commemorated Oversky's 2008-2009 Proleague Round 1 performance.

Serral is typically most vulnerable to timing attacks(with the notable expection of ZvZ); against Hurricane, Serral was trying out weird builds(g1 especially) but effectively Zest's playstyle could be problematic to deal with.
