Inno is very good at preparation formats for a reason. Yeah, he's not good at implementing special stuff on the fly. But his build also didn't look too sharp against Solar. If he fails to do damage with the drops, zerg just rolls over him. (Pro gamer zerg that is, Inno would shit on 99,9% of all players with his raw mechanics.)

I mean he destroyed every Zerg in his group during group stage so he might actually see something that scares him. Serral is typically vulnerable to timing attacks vs Protoss, and that’s how Zest has been winning

I think it's not Serral whos responsible for "boring" tournaments but rather how the game developed. This is the first time in ~9 years of SC II where I'm genuinely bored with a tournament because I feel like I've already seen every single game that is beeing played. No matter if ZvP, PvP, ZvZ, TvP, TvT,.... Although this game will get it's support over the next three years, I just can't see myself watching more than one or two tournaments per year unless they release another addon, new units or change/add mechanics.

I recall a time where terran were winning weekenders left and right with only marginal success in long form prepared format tournaments.

May not always reflect who the best is but it was just incredibly fun to have stories like duckdeok, pigbaby, sting, stardust, the random lot of gsl winners (especially seed and jjakji) among others. Never mind the insane MLG tournaments with massive open brackets or the oddities of up&down matches in gsl - I would be happy just to have one good story in one big tournament. miss the feeling of wide-eyed wonder so much. It's an old game with old players. At least it's not Brood War. I'm watching ASL and Tastosis are still raving about Flash. Imagine 12 years of Serral.
