Alpha X Junior Championships

Following the good reception of our recent under 16 tournament where we received interest from a good number of young GMs, peak viewership of 180+ and even received some donations, Alpha X is proud to announce to a continuation of this tournament and rename it the Alpha X Junior Championships - a monthly GSL style tournament with a season finale in December! The aim is to support and foster Starcraft II rising stars that are not eligible for WCS circuit due to their young age. Therefore, this tourney is open to players of 15 years old and under. There is also a lifetime mmr limit of 6k and under.
Format
Each monthly season will consist of an 8 player GSL style tournament (5 players invited, including the Top 4 from previous season; and 3 players qualified), with 3 casted match days (one for each group and one for playoffs).
At the end of the year we will host a season finale - the Junior Championships Global Finals featuring the top 8 players of the year, decided via a ranking system.

Cash Prizes
The aim is to have a minimum $50 monthly prize pool, up to a maximum of $100 if donations are received with any excess going to the next season.
The Global Finals will have a minimum $200 prize pool.
Patreon
With the lack of tournaments for young aspiring players, we aim to run a year-long series of tournaments to help support and motivate the next generation of SC2 players and ensure its continuity.
We sincerely seek to get support from the SC2 community for our patreon page to supplement our prize pools and eventually contribute towards production and staff costs. We really aim to run a premier tournament for young players looking to be competitive and showcase their skills!

It is, but times of the tournament are not really convenient for KR (night for KR, evening for EU, early afternoon for NA)

I just want to chime in that I think that Alpha X is the best thing that is in the Starcraft scene right now.
In 2019 and 2020 this is the main organization that is powering the grass roots movement of Starcraft. This is where the new blood will come from.
The constant stream of show matches, clan wars, and tournaments is amazing.
This is a particularly special one for me because of the nostalgia I have over playing this game as a teenager. I'm glad that these kids get an opportunity to compete for real money.

I am sad there are still yet no pool of talents from Korea. Maybe sc2 is not their cup of teas anymore.

Time of the cups are not really good for them, but I'm sure there are. I'm not sure they heared about this tournament either. You know, when I first hosted this tournament, I thought it would be hard to find 8 players under 16, and actually I found a lot of them easely, I'm sure they are other who didn't hear about the tournament. I hope they will at one point, and join the tournament

Will this tournament to be hosted on AM or KR server in the future?
Talking about Asia, I'm sure the high ping of EU server (200 - 300 ms) is ultra unfriendly for potentially interested players in Asia.
Maybe there is not enough players in Asia, though. AFAIK there are one 15 years old player in China mainland, and another one in Hong Kong.

This tournament is not hosted in any specific server. All the current players are from EU, but our server rules allow every player to compete in the best possible server against their opponent.
Players from Asia (with the exception of China because of obvious reasons) can for this reason compete and would never have to play in EU or even NA East.
But however, we're not planning to change the time of the tournament, we believe this way it's good for both EU and NA players. Anyway, one of the server will have bad time zones.
