MaSa and Astrea made it quite deep into Code S qualifiers, so it's a shame that they have to play so early in these playoffs. Should be a great bottom half of the bracket with Scarlett likely coming out. Congrats to Neeb on his advancement to the grand final.

Lol almost half of the players are in Korea.

Live in 10 minutes!
Let''s go Future.
|
No joke, drunkenboi is actually pretty good these days
edit: lol
|
Ouch, get rekt terran
|
DrunkenBoi doesn't look too bad against Neeb in the macro game... Imagine if he didn't handicap himself by doing wonky stuff with the factory.
|
Neeb is way overconfident in these fights.
|
Neeb is only using 25% of his power.
|
DrunkenBoi could've won that right there if he didn't decide to send all his libs into the storm to deal their 10 anti-air DPS to the tempests and colossi.
|
DB not making new SCVs... Why do you desire being defeated?
|
It was a really good attempt from DB, he deserves some credit for that
|
It's actually incredible that Drunkenboi ran out of money first.
|
Is 29 minutes the new record for longest game on Turbo Cruise?
|
DB seemed to get a bit timid after getting ahead in the game. Felt like he could have pushed Neeb much more at that point instead of sitting back and leaving the initiative to the toss.
|
It seems unlikely that neeb would be so careless again in this series, but who knows
|

It was his game to lose for quite some time.

He didn't look careless though. He just didn't look particularly good.

Well either way the point is moot, now it's Cyber Forest
|
Ouch, that's not a nice way to lose
|
Did he just kill him with Stalker pressure?
|
I bet DrunkenBoi goes all-in when he has 2-7 offsuit.
|

when he has what?

I like TLO, but I kinda hope Future takes this one. If Neeb does not improve his play in the next series there is a decent chance that Future can take him.

It's a poker reference. The worst possible hand in hold-em poker.

All-in as in Poker, not all-in as in Starcraft.
And time for some C R E A T I V E play.

I'd expect MaSa to be better generally, but I guess MaSa has the ping disadvantage in this case (since he's in Korea).
edit: Actually nvm Astrea's also in Korea.

It'll take a lot to beat the day where MaSa proxy raxed 11 games in a row.

I am heartened by the fact that we could see up to 17 masa proxy rax games today

Very solid play from Future there.

Future definitely has a better shot than TLO against neeb

His TvP is pretty standard iirc. His TvZ is a bit better I'd guess since he seems to have several different nice sharp timings there, but I don't think it's that different overall?

Okay, thanks. Sounds we could get a competitive series vs Neeb.
|
Astrea almost made a comeback, however the last attack was unnecessary. Great game tho, two pretty even players.
|

Neeb also beat him 2-0 in groups and 4-1 in the finals of the PSISTORM cup just 2 weeks ago (though I don't know how those games went).

Of the 6 games that neeb won, only the last one in the 4-1 series was close imo. Most recently, neeb beat masa 3-0 and kela 4-0 in the kings of the north tournament, but it's probably not so relevant since both of them were probably playing with some cross server lag

That sounds the result you would expect from a player of Neeb's quality. But you would not expect that same player to play like he did vs Drunkenboi. Might become interesting!

.... Astrea is really getting wrecked by constant Banshee production without even considering to stop the production.

I hope Vindicta survives long enough to give us some nukes against Scarlett.

Probably the latter. Given its early afternoon right after lunch in North America, I'm willing to bet that Vindicta didn't warm for this.

Vindicta is improving, he's quite good; I doubt Scarlett is underestimating him but she's playing from Korea, we know Scarlett's ZvT is nice even by GSL standards.

Scarlett getting PTSD from that nuke from KeeN

Neeb vs Future rematch from the Psistorm finals! Last time Neeb said he was impressed by Future's progress and the games were harder than expected, so he won't be underestimating him in this series

I guess liberators are pretty good when the opponent doesn't notice them.

I'd just go to sleep earlier

Neeb got away with a fast third, he should have this
Edited: that looked so close
|
Such an abusive style, it's lovely
|
Holy shit Neeb held that OMG, I'm actually so fuking tilted watching this.
|
That was pretty close. And Neeb stays true to character and keeps on squeezing out probes whenever he can afford it, and even at some moments where he probably can't.
|
That was painful, poor future.
|
Pulled out all of his dirtiest builds, got pretty much the best case scenarios and still lost.
Very well played by neeb.
|
Future has a future. He just needs work on everything.
|
MaSa has no transition, so it's kinda over.
edit: I thought those battlecruisers were way too late, but I guess Scarlett got blindsided by them so they weren't.

We've had some good games this tournament. And not just "full NA" good games.
But judging by how the other series went this is where MaSa falls back on cheese. I wonder if it'll be mainstream cheese like what Future did, or some special NA cheese like what Vindicta and Drunkenboi did.
|
|
Overall surprisingly good tournament so far. Certainly better than the last NA challenger.

those mutas hit like DTs with no detection

This is some early LotV PvZ.

Neeb actually makes Protoss look broken in PvZ.

He's only played three Korean zergs this year (Dark, Leenock, Ragnarok) so let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Neeb just wins with anything
|
This cannon rush seemed odd. Does it just lose on the spot if the zerg spots the pylon or notices that the probe went onto creep from a slightly unexpected angle?
Well GG anyhow.

Both probes were spotted by the overlords so Scarlett must've known it's coming but maybe didn't know how to stop this variation

If you scout it early enough you can pull drones to deny the buildings on the high ground as usual (and obviously at that point the probe runs around in circles dropping more buildings). It's just that that location didn't seem particularly good for the Protoss. Idk, I'd have to see more games of that cannon rush.
|
Why couldn't Scarlett haven't just abandoned the high ground and build up on one base? Neeb was going to lose his nexus on the other side of the map and didn't have money for another so that was all he had.
