Shedule says this event ends on the 25th. Does this mean that the finals will be played sunday morning/night ~ 0.30/1.00am or sunday evening, like 6 pm? (CET)
Serral's understanding of the game is insane however the new patch can play tricks this tournament EDIT: like his comment on the couch about spotting Soo wasnt scouting well in game 1, to punish him for this in game 2 showcases how well he analyzes the games. I know other good players do that as well, but Serral is a complete package. Well done.
On November 23 2018 23:09 Musicus wrote: Serral okay, but how did soO lose vs Soul? Wtf what did I miss.
I only saw game 3 and souL bunker rushed him. 3 full bunkers with marines, didn't kill his 2nd but he did some decent damage. After that, soO was on 3 base against souL on 3 base. SouL even had more workers. He then marine+tank pushed and killed soO's 4th, while building his 5th and 6th CC already. soO never really came into that game tbh, souL was ahead economically and army wise most of the game.

He can go drinking with Rogue and Creator though.

They'd probably end up speaking Korean, lol. soO actually can speak English fairly well though. At least good enough to say some things, like Taeja but better probably.

I just been watching Bly vs Soul for a good 4 minutes thinking it was Serral-Bunny with the A stream sound. I was wondering why the guys on the couch were not saying anything about all the hellions getting killed

So do I get it correctly that Serral finally met a good Korean Terran and is providing his true Banjo skills? (at work, can't watch) But still, his PvZ and ZvZ are awesome. (although I'm not sure if there's anyone except Classic who's good at PvZ nowadays as I cannot remember a Korean Zerg who's stable good)

Hard to say because it's a new patch
He would have 2-0ed Bunny easily last patch
The creep spread nerf is probably the biggest thing in ZvT, right?
Bunny is playing like he's the best Terran in the world right now. Easily the series of the tournament so far, the first two games are probably the games of the tournament.

Saying this proves Serral has "weak" ZvT just underscores how well Bunny played. He played out of his mind all three games, let's give him some awesome props. I'm not sure even TY or Gumiho could have put up a better fight.

Bunny 4-0d Serral online in 2017... Last patch(BlizzCon one) Serral would have most likely won 2-0; Serral has yet to adapt to this patch, especially against top Terran we all know are a rare sight in EU.
Thus said, i'm impressed by Bunny! He has been looking amazing the whole day and was so good at macroing and multitasking(not exactly so at the engagements, he could have won much earlier in game 1) against Serral, who in turn seemed to make a little more errors than usual.
In the end Serral still managed to win, but the games were very close and i was shivering.

Nah. He was ahead in the first half of the mid game, but when Bunny got to 5 bases and Serral was stuck on 4 bases and way down in supply, he was way behind.

Nah I think Mana over showtime, if nothing if for the fact of longevity. Also I don't think showtimes had enough real successes to make up for that fact. If showtime had won a tournament with koreans in or something, maybe, but Mana has had decent results over his career.

Bunny mech'd a ling bling hydra'ing Serral to the ground that day.

Are you fucking me with Lilbow second best foreign toss? Mana has had a better career then Lilbow, I keep the other 4 and Lilbow is probably 6th.
Lilbow made Blizzcon when it was still hard. 1 out of 2 players who made Blizzcon during the Kespa era.
God damit I'm getting baited Lilbow got to Blizcon with semi region lock WCS, he didn't really beat Korean to get in and won his final against a foreigner (Mana himself).

Which version of Taeja or Maru would have beaten Serral? Definitely not the most recent ones. I agree a top form S tier korean terran would have won g2 if they were playing instead of Bunny, but Serral is not in his BlizzCon form; last patch he was looking unbeatable(yes, better than Maru) and he is still being very good here at HSC. Give him time!

As good as Serral is, very few Starcraft players dominate for years. Not saying that he will become bad next year or anything crazy like that but I don't think he will win like 4 WCS again (I think probably he will win 2, maybe 3). I would say the only players who've been consistently top level for basically all of LotV are Stats, Dark, and TY.

Mostly depends on Reynor I think, the guy has improved so much and at Montreal he was already so close. I could imagine Reynor winning all 4 next year (if there is WCS next year, idk what's the plan for next year).

Mostly depends on Reynor I think, the guy has improved so much and at Montreal he was already so close. I could imagine Reynor winning all 4 next year (if there is WCS next year, idk what's the plan for next year).
And after Montreal lost to Serral 1-3 in the Ultimate Series.
The gap is not closing.
Reynor just didn't take him seriously in that event. Once he starts preparing for him he will beat him easily.

Just like the Koreans. Serral wouldn't stand a chance in GSL and that's why he's scared to go there.

He almost won game 3 with cannons too, they showed it on the Korean stream.
Serral cancelled his natural and built a proxy hatch on Hellraiser's side of the map, but it was scouted and stopped by cannons. Ended up with an intense micro battle between ravagers and immortals at the top of the ramp to Serral's natural, and Serral barely won by killing the pylon that was powering everything including the shield batteries.

Not really against zerg.
Just saying that Serral had way less reason to give it his best than Reynor did.
But yeah Reynor will still likely be one of the tougher opponents for Serral next year even though Reynor wen't 4-10 during the last four and a half months against him. Won't disagree with that.
Hm as for Aligulac it depends on his last two matches. If he goes 2-0, 2-0 he'd be 4-1 vs T, 4-1 vs P, 6-1 vs Z and that shouldn't make him lose points. Probably a marginal gain

If he 2-0's Hellraiser, Bunny (can't manage better than 2-1 at this point) and Serral (2-0) beat Stephano and Stephano beats Bly (2-1) I think soO can still advance.

Really seems a bit odd, tbh. Anyway, I like how Stephano is playing here. I'm not the most active SCII viewer anymore, but seeing Stephano play that well is a good thing for me :-P
Am I the only one who still feels a moment of relief when watching foreigner Zergs who end up on the back foot, and there's a half second of panic but then I remember: Oh yeah, I'm not watching Idra.
I love watching comebacks like this. Great work by Stephano.

Absolutely.
At least they are showing three of TaeJa's games on main stream later.
Is the next Stephano game streamed somewhere? And is there some kind of schedule somewhere? The order of play on Liquipedia doesn't really make any sense.

the order we posted on reddit is the order we use + additional stuff if we have the time. Others can cross-play what they like otherwise the System isnt able to be done below 15 Hours.

In other words, the main stream is this, and the rest is pure anarchy
It's not really dangerous for Trap as far as I can tell.
Assuming Stephano loses to Serral, the Bly-Stephano match is for going 4-3 and thereby only tying Trap. So it's going to be Serral, Bunny, Trap, and Stephano/Bly advancing from group C (but not necessarily in that order).
Steph is so shitty in zvz There are no decent pro zergs who lose against baneling/muta while securing a 190pop hydras/lurkers with hive but he achieves it masterfully. Such a shame considering his other mu.

If we're talking across the year, soO finished higher in WCS Korea and he recently won that Chinese tournament where the only other good player was Scarlett.

Yay, soO was able to win a tournament without a competition! Good for him.
Honestly, he used to be the best Zerg around. By far. Similarly to Maru/TY vs Bunny levels. I'm not saying Bunny is bad, but he's worse than these two by a fair margin. Currently the top Zergs in Korea aren't exactly the sharpest tools in the shed and soO is worse with this margin, which makes him much worse than he used to be. I still love him, I believe in him being good again and I would love him pulling a Maru the next season of Code S. But at this moment he's bad. No matter if he's 4th, 5th or 2nd.

Okay, but even then. Apparently Trap is at a 8-7 Mapscore. So 10-8 is definitely better than 8-7. And they both would have 4-3 in matches. So Trap can still drop out here, apparently.

Very confusing.
He just thought that if he won or lost it wouldn't matter since he had already won. However, they probably didn't realize they could have pushed trap out.

Neither can progamers apparently.
IF the progamers can't, whoever took the result (and accepted it) should have realized that something's iffy.

How? I thought since Trap already won vs. Stephano he'd still be ahead.

Solar is a God. I've been waiting for him to win some more tournaments again. I feel like he's been sick good for a while just hasn't... delivered always
Solar is such a nice guy, and his english is really good. Serral really gets a lot of respect from the korean players now, the hunt for him has already begun. Exciting times we live in. Will be interesting to see if they can catch him before Reynor does.

Reynor - and also other top WCS players - at the very least have the benefit of meeting Serral more often in tournaments. More chances.

Have no idea why Splyce dropped him
Who knows if Splyce dropped him or he dropped Splyce. He's a nice guy but he's absurdly inconsistent.
Given the current team situation for Korean players I can't imagine he dropped splyce. I can't imagine he was earning enough that any team cut would be less than a regular salary either.

True. But somewhat early next year there will be IEM and WESG, so the korean players have some shots, too.

Why did it seem so obvious, even when Taeja was maxed out with decent income and upgrades against Solar, that he was going to lose? Because he didn't really damage Solar's worker count, kill bases or force some really unfavorable trades with mines etc.?
It feels like the creep spread nerf is making no difference to creep spread in any of these games. I guess it was a pretty small nerf but I'm surprised.

Never manage to slow down Solar, most zerg are ok with long game against terran as long as you keep it on the outside and just deflect everything, at some point there is just to much creep and to much bases and Terran just get overwhelm. But ya you pretty much said it yourself

It's start up slower tho, so it's a bit easier to contain it.
Really proud of that nerd wholeheartedly hating his military service time
But I think he missed one good point of it: he seems to be much more motivated than before and his wrists probably got some badly needed rest this way.

That's kinda known since Serral had a lot more trouble at WCS Montreal than at Blizzcon. Lambo almost beat him there too. Then again, so did Scarlett.
And Reynor
I know, he was the closest to it. The game 6 of that series was imo the best game to watch live this year.
Foreignerland has a lot of great zergs to offer, even besides Serral while Korean zergs are struggling. It's where the gap has been closed you could say.
The casters on stream B should know that if Drogo wins here he is in upper bracket which is a massive advantage. There's no chance of him playing more relaxed.

Surely you'd still be a bit more relaxed knowing you're not gonna be eliminated?

Normally 9-8 is better than 8-7, but dunno what they do here.
Imo those should be considered equal and head to head should be considered in that case. The extra win doesn't matter cause there's also an extra loss.

Yeah agree with that. It's definitely an insignificant difference either way, so it should be h2h.

Lambo's ZvP is extremely good, he just played really bad today. He seemed pretty off the entire day tbh, in all matchups.
He probably expected too much (IIRC he trained a lot after Serral's WCS win), started off badly and fell apart mentally.
Tbh, he didn't have particularly high expectations going into the tournament, and considering how confident Lambo normally is, I think that says something about his preparation since Blizzcon.
