you can but its 10x harder for the protoss. zerg players will say otherwise. your army is way less mobile and you don’t have permanent revelation (creep). smart positional play has always been nearly impossible against a good zerg so they have to rely on crap like forcefields or high dps amove units and hope you win (immortals/archon/etc)

It feels impossible but if you know its coming, you can just leave a small army near home to help defend, or save some army supply for warp ins in the area that gets attacked. I say "just" but this play style is neither easy to play nor defend against.

Wow... really sad I completely forgot this is today. But I just watched the twitch vod of the last game. Amazing. Reminded me of Serral so much.

'Course they can - IMO it requires a different approach than what classic showed.

1) More map awareness from P. For example - more observers watching the various attack paths, squads of units on roving patrols to keep checking for groups of zerg set up to counter. You only move out to posture once you've checked then you assume that Zerg is sending units around yours while you move towards their side of the map.

2) More harassment - a warp prison + proxy pylons to send in units every time he sends an attack towards a protoss base. These attacks don't require much attention or micro from P, with the result being zerg's precision takes a hit as they divert some attention away from to coordinating such incisive strikes.

Yes, yes, I know. much easier said than done - especially for Protoss players like classic and herO who generally like to gain early advantages using sharp early or mid-game timing attacks.

To 1) observers Just get killed and you need your robos for other things. Unit squads are also too fragile and you dont want to lose immortals or hts so thats not rly an Option i think especially when zergs Just kill those Units for free and move Back

To 2) harrassment ist pretty hard vs this as Pylons get easily killed by lings and If the prism dies once its difficult to replace it because you need robos for immos :D also vs these pushes you often need all Warp ins at Home

It's not really necessary if the harass is good enough. If you have enough cannons, batteries and are maxed out it's certainly possible.

Classic's moveout was just a bad time imo. Getting more air units out would have been better.

Watch them as soon as you can. The last game vs. Classic is a... classic. Sorry, I had to.

Well Zealots are not that useful at home so there are usually some minerals to spare for some counter attack warp-ins (although you need cannons as well. I think Classic's harass was fine though, he made other mistakes.

I mean thats how i play pvz on ladder (defend defend defend until Air) but thats pretty stupid gameplay imho

If Zergs start playing like Reynor and Protosses start playing like you describe, the games are going to be so amazing. I remember liquid hero did this kind of thing a lot. Toward the end of his career he crushed Life in proleague doing this kind of harass with dts. You'd think a few spores or overseers would shut that kind of thing down, but it didn't.

Worth mentioning that in game 1 of the first series, he basically died to counter harass.

In some ways it is quite similar to the multi-pronged aggression that successful Terrans often use. A bit harder to pull off as Zerg (IMO) though, given T's relatively shorter list of mechanical tasks that offset their much harder micro requirements needed for good trades. Effectively controlling and utilizing multiple counter-attack groups as Z, while also staying on top of creep spread, injects, overlord positioning, defense, etc. requires pretty slick mechanics! When pulled of though, I the dividends it can pay are obvious - by taking the initiative, Terran is suddenly off Zerg's back for half a minute, without that pressure, the Z player now has more attention available to focus on maintaining their tempo control, all the while is more likely to be able to keep on top of their other zergy jobs.

Wow really shocked that Classic couldn't get through. SoS looked pretty strong at least though. He needs at least a round of 4 I believe to get to Blizzcon. Congrats to Reynor though.

Amazing.

And does GSL bringing back Atlas mean that no has been making 4 player maps for them? And I'm not surprised to see they kept Eastwatch also :/.

And here we go with the one million excuses as to why Classic lost. And it's from the people who were hilariously confident he'd be 2-0'd every match and whatnot. People were simply just not aware of how good he was (all the Korean players knew already from ladder). Anyway, huge congrats to Reynor. What a kid
