People care for Neeb, and they cared for Scarlett when she was the worst at interview. If your good enough people are gonna love you

Even if the game gets worse/boring, a lot of people will still watch. Sc2 was always kinda bad at that (creating a following behind players) You say that but I'm watching cs because its legit more interesting than the sc2 right now. And there's much less hassle with imbalanced races making it almost all skill dependant. imbalance only exists in the minds of salty players who want something to blame Yh yh BL/infestor, blink allins, hellbat pushes, reaper rushes, adept allins. These things where all balanced. Blizzard nerfing and buffing things makes no change cuz everything is always balanced im sure all of these have been the things keeping you from winning games below 6k mmr I never said they effected me personally. We're talking esports. They effected most pro matches at their imbalance peak And btw the race switching thing if you think something is good. I switched from T to P when LoTV came out because I thought adapts were broken lol even at the pro level balance is overrated. Every time someone wins with adepts people say imba imba but the statistics say that the matchup is fine. In the end the better player wins most of the time. The only times when balance was a serious problem was early wol terran, BL/Infestor and Blink era. Why keep people talking about "balance", you are right it is basically a nonissue. What is an actual issue is if the design is actually fun/interesting. Unit interactions are important. It might be "balanced" but that doesn't matter if people think it is not enjoyable. We talked about csgo for example, what is so nice about coutnerstrike? A big + is that the economy + round structure functions in a way that there is minimal snowballing. So there are lots and lots of ways to come back into a game if you are the better team at that day. Lots of other things to talk about, but probably doesn't belong here. Serral is pretty good That's not much to add guys:people watch games they like playing and actually only a small part of gaming community loves RTS You are basically just talking about the effect, what's way more interesting is the cause. Why do people like to play/watch certain games. "because it is rts" doesn't tell us anything worthwhile. Also sure, a huge playerbase obviously helps for esports, but even there you need to convert that to an actual viewerbase. Some games do way better, if we consider the small playerbase sc2 does very well in that regard for example.
Imho SC2 has some design issues that became bigger with LotV but it wouldn't contrast MOBA even if it was the perfect RTS.We can't expect a 1v1 game to become bigger than a 5v5 game ,as we cannot expect tennis to be bigger than football or basketball. Socialising is the key and SC2 fell in this department.

I mean there are multiple things the scene would need. I am not saying X,Y or Z are the only thing important. Saying that players who are more entertaining on their own aren't a factor (at all?) is kinda naive though. Ofc a bigger playerbase would help, but so would a lot of other things including players who are actually a bit more interesting when they open their mouth. faceless korean, faceless foreigner is real to some extent
