Many of the qualifier dates are about to be rescheduled due to conflict with IEM announcing their qualifiers so late. Will update with new dates when they are decided.

...apart from the MVP team, the players from KeSPA teams almost never played in online minor tournaments during the PL age... we now have all "the bigs" playing in these just because KeSPA teams are no more, except Jin Air that seems to stick to this old habit...

Usually Zestmacro is when you float 1k/1k but you have all the units you need and none of it makes sense.

This was like Zest had a minor stroke. Shaded into widow mines too.

Offline venue reveal:

Corsair has converted a floor in their building dedicated to gaming, and in this case, broadcasting. There will be a live audience option (capacity for just under 200). Here are some pictures showcasing the area!

So

Curious started a match without Basetrade
Curious gets disqualified from Ting (no invite, no more chances to qualify) because those are the rules (let's ignore how we feel about the particular rule in this instance)
Losira forfeits because he doesn't like that
Losira gets disqualified from Ting (no invite either)

Stats qualifies despite mostly not playing.

Did I get this right?

Turned off before the Losira thing.

But for Curious, yes. It also seems like Curious is 100% at fault. It is unknown what exactly was said in chat but from how it went down there is no doubt that Curious should have known. Had they DQed him the first time it would have been too harsh, but if he does it a second time just a few minutes later this is the only reasonable decision.

Losira started a match (vs Curious) without Basetrade. Curious was alt-tabbed and was not aware they weren't in game.
Curious gets DQ'd.
Losira forfeits.

Stats qualifies but doesn't feel comfortable with this at all.

I think its all good. Some players act like they first time playing cup. Respect the sponsors (this time BTTV) respect the rules. They made this cup so they can stream something, and then players start game without them. I was watching BTTV and breaks between games were huuuuuuge. They need to learn some manners and respect that without BTTV there is no money to win.

You can, I think protoss is just fine in standard macro games. It's the 15 different builds terran can do imo that really screw you over

Interesting. The only times i see protoss win is if the toss does some weird shit. Any time he plays defensive macro style terran seems to win with pretty much anything :D

TY and ByuN are both really good players too, no? :O So it might just look off because of how good they are.
That being said it does boil down to individual-game execution.

Let's also say it's much easier for Terran to execute properly than it is for protoss. That's my opinion at least. Pylon overcharge means that the most important thing in the midgame is essentially where you put your pylons and whether or not you're quick enough to react. If they get a single drop off, the game is as good as over.

There's a bunch of separate issues stacked on top of each other, though. Some maps are so stupid for specific playstyles - whether it be liberator/tank pushes, or what ByuN did earlier (CC first with reactor/tech lab and no units). On 4p maps, Terran can do literally everything. Factory openings (like Cyclone pushes) kill you if you aren't prepared, so protoss has to essentially prepare for everything possible if they don't get significant scouting intel - which again leaves Terran free to do whatever they want.

There's one single good macro build for protoss, which is a very defensive double forge/colossus build with 6 gates on 2 bases before taking a third. But that's so stupidly obvious by now that Terran can easily play around it. And the build definitely has its weaknesses, such as greedy CC first or even triple CC builds.

I actually don't think this is true. I would rather say protoss doesn't have as much opportunity to win purely based on execution.
A good terran can outmultitask, outmicro the opponent because he has the tools to do so. The same isn't necessarily true for protoss and zerg.

I think we can argue about the nature of the races all we want, but the reality is that top-tier players kinda shatter the expectations anyway - it's part of what makes them top-tier.

But it has always been like that, every time there are statistical imbalances there are few top players that just does well compared to everyone else.

very true. everyone hyping the terrans atm and what super great players they are. do ppl really think that for some coincidence all these terrans dominate so hard because, well, they are just so much better than the protoss and zerg players of their caliber? if a top korean terran perfectly uses all tools of his race, theres just so much a zerg/protoss, no matter how good of a player, can do against it. 3 rax reaper is still alive and kickin while ultras got nerfed back to the wonky crap unit they once were.

i stopped playing sc2 because mech sucks so much, i know Terran is winning right now with bio but I don't see what ryung could have done better.

He killed 24 drones early on, blew up the natural, secured a strong position at the choke and still got torn apart by vipers. I think in HotS mech was truly scary.

He killed 24 drones early on, blew up the natural, secured a strong position at the choke and still got torn apart by vipers. I think in HotS mech was truly scary.

in HotS mech was impossible to beat so yeah, it was scary. you are right there.

Things that Ryung could have done better: kill any queen with hellbats, don't amove hellbats into roaches (i mean you already went hellbat "allin" vs roaches in the first place), hit your pre-hive timing before hive

It's like ByuL doesn't know what you're supposed to do vs bio after you get to 80 drones and secure 8 gases.

Look at GSL? lol. It's probably because he didn't care about this.

On another note; I have to assume that since the offline is in NA they wanted to reduce costs/increase homeground support. However NA is ridiculously underpowered compared to KR, EU, WC. Like terribly skewed to allow lesser NA players into the finals..

No, I really don't. He had a soft peak and has done nothing since. Added to the fact that he is overly cocky yet would get destroyed by most of the non NA players. Plus he got a free seed into group stages.

I'm not sure how you would surmise that he would get destroyed by most of the non-NA players, but since you have said so, surely there is historical evidence right?

Showtime vs Neeb - 3-7 historical score, 1-2 in matches.
Nerchio vs Neeb - 16-16 historical score, 3-3 in matches (with 3 taken out because of team games)
Snute vs Neeb - 13-12 historical score, 3-4 in matches (with match + map score taken out because Neeb was Terran then)
Elazer vs Neeb - 0-4 historical score, 0-2 in matches (again with one taken out because Neeb was Terran)
uThermal vs Neeb - 8-18 historical score, 1-5 in matches (with two taken out because those are team games)
Serral vs Neeb - 0-1 historical score, 0-0 in matches (team game)
MarineLord vs Neeb - 3-0 historical score, 1-0 in matches
SortOf vs Neeb - 8-11 historical score, 2-3 in matches
Harstem vs Neeb - 4-7 historical score, 0-2 in matches (two taken out because of team games)
Heromarine vs Neeb - 0-0 historical score, 0-0 in matches
Bly vs Neeb - 15-23 historical score, 3-8 in matches
PtitDrogo vs Neeb - 6-7 historical score, 2-1 in matches (one taken out because of team games)

And just for fun, I'll throw in the Koreans who are in Ting

Byun vs Neeb - 9-7 historical score, 3-2 in matches (one taken out because of team games)
Solar vs Neeb - 6-2 historical score, 2-0 in matches (one take out because he was Terran)
herO vs Neeb - 0-1 historical score, 0-0 in matches (team game)
aLive vs Neeb - 4-2 historical score, 1-1 in matches
jjakji vs Neeb - 0-0 historical score, 0-0 in matches
soO vs Neeb - 0-1 historical score, 0-0 in matches (Shoutcraft win)
Super vs Neeb - 0-2 historical score, 0-1 in matches
Gumiho vs Neeb - 6-9 historical score, 1-4 in matches
Stats vs Neeb - 2-3 historical score, 0-1 in matches (one taken out because of Shoutcraft)
TRUE vs Neeb - 10-20 historical score, 2-7 in matches

For even more fun, here are the remaining Europeans

Denver vs Neeb - 0-0 historical score, 0-0 in matches
Optimus vs Neeb - 0-0 historical score, 0-0 in matches

Hmmm, it could just be me, but it feels like Neeb has a winning record against nearly all the top Europeans, and even against the Koreans he doesn't perform that badly. Sure, he might lose to Byun or Solar, but then most people are beaten by Byun and Solar.

I mean, there haven't been very many tournaments since KeSPA Cup, but Neeb got a Ro8 in Blizzcon and a 3rd place in WESG.

So I'm not sure how you can discount Neeb when he has a very good record against the best Europeans, a decent record against the Koreans, and a couple of decent tournament rankings since KeSPA Cup. I mean, I don't know how good Optimus or Denver is, but are they so much better than Neeb that you are convinced he would lose to them?

Are you sure you know the same Neeb as I do??!!! cuz the Neeb I see is one of the most humble asf and he is the only player I know to enter into multiple interviews and not say trash about anyone (without at least some sort of encouragement from Tod or Rotti)

jjakji is better than people give him credit for most of the time (and Stats tends to overperform offline if he gets into the groove).

And soO did the awful ravager all-in build twice in a row and GuMiho slapped him down.

Keen will join him in the ro8. They tried to contact a ton of players and only Keen was willing to play.

Keen and aLive might have to play a seeding match.

Edit: Also, ByuN forfeited before he locked himself out of his house.

Edit: Quote from ZG:
"hero - 1 hour before show says he has family trip emergency
solar - left his house despite being told to wait and didn't want to come back to play seeding match
byun - forfeited before he was locked out
alive - is OK"

I don't see why KeeN and aLive would have to play a seeding match. KeeN lost in the Ro32, aLive made top 16.

I think players should get warnings then ban them if they failed to show up again.

Tbh what Solar did sounds like the worst offense but also completely unlike Solar.

It sucks that Rifkin gets fucked over during a Ting sponsored event.

However, Rifkin shouldnt do what he is doing on stream atm. Man up buddy, show has been canceled, dont bash the forfeiters on stream, move on and take the appropriate measures to ensure it doesnt happen again.

bttv hype...

Yeah, they don't get to play the BTSL monthly final and then a warning. Seems like enough.

Only Solar could deserve a harsher punishment, but should get a chance to explain himself first.

No idea why he did that :/.

He could pretty much just have waited at home until half an hour ago, played a seeding match against aLive and be in the ro8. Very confusing.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

The summary of today's events:

Byun and herO forfeited a few hours before the broadcast was to begin, citing different reasons. To note, Byun forfeited BEFORE he knew he was locked out of his house.

Solar was notified of these potential forfeits and told to wait 15 minutes before it was confirmed. Fifteen minutes later, Solar was told he was to play a BO7 against Alive to determine seeding. Despite being told to wait, Solar said he was already outside with friends and couldn't play, so he forfeited. This forfeit was less than an hour before the broadcast was to start.

The punishment that is to be handed out to Byun and herO is an official warning and loss of invite to the BTSL finals.

The punishment for Solar as of RIGHT NOW is a loss of invite to the BTSL finals and AT LEAST an official warning, but further punishment could be given once Solar has been talked to about the situation.

Alive was willing and ready to play, and will advance to the RO8 in the winner's seed. Keen was the only person from the KR RO16 that responded willing to play and will be awarded the loser's seed in the RO8.

How is Solar being punished for forfeiting from a tournament that he knew wasn't going to happen, when the players who forfeited from the tournament CAUSING it to not happen are treated more lenient? They were told there was a tournament, be ready in a few hours, and forfeited. Solar was told there probably wouldn't be a tournament, be ready in 15 minutes for it probably not to happen, and figured there was no reason to stick around...and he's being punished more than the others? It sounds like he didn't even know there would be a seedling match! So why would he wait around for nothing? Even if he did know, he didn't break the rules any more than the other two.

Also, whining and ranting and bashing the players on stream immediately brings you down to their level, and then some. There isn't any justification for punishing someone for their behavior when yours was no better. At this point its just a personal revenge thing, and petty.

you either have problems with reading or it's you who has some personal bias

Solar was informed that Byun and herO forfeited but he still had to play aLive for place in Ro8.
There was no "maybe" - that was certain - but he still left.

if you think BTTV has some personal vendetta against Solar, you couldn't be more wrong.
Which can be also proved by the fact that while you're trying to sound smart and throw accusations right and left, BTTV and Solar already agreed on a solution.

Well-said. People didn't even watch the damn stream and came here and blasting stuff to BTTV. They were only streaming to discuss the situation with audience and Harstem. Didn't trash-talk anyone at all.

I do feel that it is just unfortunate that everything went wrong in the last minute. I feel bad for Rifkin and ZBG. I hope they talk it out, acknowledge the mistakes and move on from there.

First, I will admit that I was wrong about the ranting -- I got that from a third party and it was clearly exaggerated. There was no ranting from BTTV at all, so I apologize for that.

That said, I don't know what your last sentence has to do with anything at all...just two halves of sentences that don't fit together.

I do stand by the statement (which it seems you had trouble reading) that Solar did not break any more rules than the other two. One hour notice or fifteen minutes, neither is an acceptable time to notify of a forfeit. And Byun did not have a valid excuse, either.

In addition, as was suggested in the thread (which you clearly misread) and made clear in the video (which you clearly misheard), Solar left BEFORE being notified that he had to play aLive.

So don't call someone illiterate and biased based on words you purposely misread and selectively ignore to prove a false point.

I still do not believe Solar should be treated worse than the others, or at least Byun. But it's too late for that, I guess.

I heard something to do with " Solar tried to change the group schedule first...." but not clear to me. Supposed that was the reason why the justification was made. Though, the latest statement from ZG did not include this part, perhaps because it is a short note. That said, It is right for the authority do weight in the causes.

Among all, personally I agreed with the point that Solar did not break more rules than the other two, based on the information being collected. The burden occurred while the other two were also participating in VSL, which resulting in 2 hours slip.

Yah I heard that too. I think Solar was the one requesting the date change and BTTV did that for him. In the end, it ended up causing conflict with VSL which both herO and ByuN qualified for. So, BTTV delayed the time for couple hours to accommodate the other two. So, if Solar didn't ask for the date change in the first place, this mess might not happen.

Anyway, it is really unfortunate timing thing. I hope all parties talk it out and move on. No need to linger to this problem forever. Things happen.

Neeb hanging on for that long against True in g3 was godly. Huge ruptor hits and silky archon drop micro.

Sometimes you just get to see how much class a player has when they can hang on so tenaciously and make their opponent work so hard to close it out.

What does Stats do if he have to play in the Semis on the 25th, but the GSL finals as well on the same day.
He is the favorite vs Ryung, so he can have two matches on the 25th, one in Korea and one in the US.

I guess he won't miss the GSL finals if he will be there ...

Massing two units when the opponents uses scv+marine+marauders+medivacs+liberators+mines and almost winning feels super dumb, but thankfully Gumiho managed to win because Neeb forgot to reinforce from his warp prism and not from a pylon :x.

What feels dumb is that cheap support unit like widow mine still ruins games even against top players of the world like Neeb. I can only imagine how hard it is for those who still play protoss in ladder. Running them into mineral lines like that should be made easier to stop when spotted, maybe by lowering their health.

Or it will be the second 0-5 in Ting finals history. An interesting note is that the last time there was a Protoss in a Ting finals, Snute got 4-2ed by that player.

Snute is getting destroyed, I fear Neeb-Gumiho is going to be as one sided

I actually thought that Snute-aLive would be a better match given Snute's consistency against Terran.

If we get the Neeb of time gone by, then maybe it will be a good finals.

Nothing against Nathanias at all, but I kind of wishes Rifkin and ZG would cast the final.

Edit : Oh they rotate, never mind then, it's the best option

I feel like Neeb is not totally out of this, if he can go into a standard game I think he has a bit of a shoot.
