I wouldn't call that better, it's simpler for sure though. Adding a shield tax, de-incentives using shading at all in some circumstances (and there isn't even any difficult decision making involved--if there's an engagement soon don't shade), which isn't something you want on an ability. Having a shield tax on it makes it so it's only really useful for multitasking between bases and the longer it's going on the worse it gets. You also probably don't want to shade directly on an enemey army anymore. I quite like that tbh. To be clear: There probably wouldn't be any cooldown on it anymore at all though, you don't need cooldown and "energy". Having a shield tax means people will only ever use shading to either scout or shade into mineral lines and right click on workers. It looks like it only preserves the worst aspect of shades. What do you mean only the worst aspects of shades? Which "positive" aspects would be lost? I don't think that shading on top of an enemy army is positive at all btw. Obviously the implementation makes also a difference (when to lose the shield exactly, when you activate the ability or when you actually shade, etc) Not saying this is perfect by any means, but imo it's more interesting and better "balanced" than just increasing the cooldown.

Has played 5 games and Welmu beat Hydra, but there's only 8 pages.

Because setting up equipment and configuring settings on a new set-up is not an instantaneous process.

EDIT: Panda this is not Dreamhack Valencia. Still up for it? Yes, Hydra has been awful throughout all of Legacy. I expect him to do worst of all the Koreans here. Wait, to be clear, I bet that there's no Korean in the finals, and you bet the opposite, right? Yes. I believe in Polt. OK, we have a deal.

Using shades for defense, flanking, midmap mobility, splitting, avoiding liberator zones or even shading onto armies are all more positive than right clicking on workers imo. Having weird downsides for the sake of being more "interesting" is a huge red flag too. As for being better "balanced" the issue with adepts has been design more so than balance, what bothers me is that your change rewards you for not using the ability, something you shouldn't want on an ability.
