because this wasnt actually a draw
Or it wouldn't have been if Strange had the balls to go kill him with the units he has. But if he was aware of the timer, that means he accepted the game would end in a tie.
the question is: will Polt demonstrate enough balls to forfeit this game, because he lost it fair and square.
Not according to the engine.
hurr durr the engine is planet Earth's physics, get over it (that goal was never disallowed)! Right? Now do you wanna play the game or pick funny excuses?
Polt played for the draw and Strange gave him enough time to get there. That's a legitimate move in a game of Starcraft, and apparently Dreamhack hadn't accounted for this. Polt playing out the re-game was not a show of poor sportsmanship.
This, oh this!!
Don't get why people don't get that!
Because playing for a draw never before had a designer-put countdown in the game. I will put it like this:
The 3 minute timer could have forced Strange to rush things and actually make him lose the game while a slow methodical play got him the win yet Blizzard and Dreamhack decided he didnt win.
I don't see it that way. The timer is part of the game, a part of the game that Strange saw and realized, and he misplayed around it. He saw and was aware of this possibility of losing, and he misplayed anyway. If you want this to not happen in the future, make a rule about it.
I suspect that Blizzard will actualize a rule for this sort of thing after this tournament.

Blizz will 100% remove that shitty timer from custom games or at least any WCS tournament after this. No need for a rule.
And yes the timer is shitty, because it did not prevent a stalemate, it prevented a win.

Austin will do that...just as a reminder polt won a gsl by 4-ing mma
good for him, but that was long time ago back when he was actually good and not NA to the bone
I was making a comparison m8. Personally Im a polt fan because of mlg spring arena 2012. One of the few cases where a guy earned my respect by beating drg

Both players had the timers available to them though.
Either way, I understand your point, though I do not necessarily disagree. I suppose we must agree to disagree at this point.
That's just how down to the wire the match was.
I remember a similar situation in ForGG vs Firecake on that vel-something (vanni research station?) map (horizontal symmetry map, grey looking).

fnatic had to give up her game vs LDLC when they abused pixelboosts with olof on Overpass. I believe the "anti ladder statemate" timer shouldnt be a WCS rule and is not in the rulebook, is it? Polt could have agreed that it was a loss as it was. He would have lost the marines + building. In my book; bad admin call and worse decision by Polt to take the rematch.
Simply not very mannered.
Wtf it's not about manners, it's a legitimate strategy (the only one available for Polt) to play for a draw. It was still super easy for Strange to win it but he was too scared to do it. If you want people not to play for draws you actually have to state it beforehands or change or the game is designed.
You could say "hey this guy is not very mannered because he takes a strong race" but it's not a matter of manners it's a matter of integrity / trying to win. If Polt forfeited it would have been like a fix because he earned the right to do a rematch.
It's really the tournament's fault if they didn't have a rule in place about the timer. Looking back, the best course of action might have been to pause right when the timer appeared and find out how the admins wanted to proceed. However, Polt could have argued he had played the entire game while thinking of the possibility of a timer win.
