The concept of turtling swarm hosts PvZ is just bad for watching. Yeah, Puck didn't play great against the style. But those games were awful. The whole concept of turtling is bad, what is true for swarmhost is also true for mech and skytoss. I am afraid that a weaker swarmhost will push protoss and terran toward these playstyle, which would be horrible both to play against and watch. It's not just skytoss, it's the whole concept of artillery units as defensive army units. Artillery should first and foremost be there to kill and prevent static D abuse, enforce offensive positions and therby prevent turtling. It should not be a good tool to turtle on. Much less it should be a good tool to kill other artillery, that's what has brought us here. Swarm Hosts so that Zerg can outrange the already overly prevalent artillery units of Protoss (Colossus) and Terran (Tank). Tempests to kill Zerg (Broodlord) and Protoss (Colossus) artillery units. Though blizzard might be fixing that a bit for Legacy. Colossus range down (though I'd prefer a general redesign of that piece of crap), low range splash for Protoss instead, the will to change SHs and Tempests (even if I don't like their redesign). Some stuff looks good. Though they also add another 15range Terran unit so who knows what's going on in their minds...
I think you make an important point about artillery. It takes a bit of time to aim with heavy artillery, but once it is set up, the bombardment is very heavy (if the gun is big). That is kind of the principle. If the artillery is made for bombardment of structures, it will be less effective against moving small targets over a larger surface area. If you want to bombard a large surface area with lots of moving targets on it, you will likely have to have a different type of artillery. Basically these two types could be described by the siege tank in siege mode and the colossus. The problem is the SH, because it combines the two.and cleans up anything that is on the ground with equal efficiency - fast moving low armor units, slow moving heavily armored units and structures. Combine that with a range that is unparalleled, and shots that you can redirect and micro as you see fit once fired, over a huge surface, and you have the ultimate bombardment weapon.
Artillery pieces should be vulnerable once you get to them up close, but that is just the problem with the locust. They cover so much area, all the way from the SH to where ever they are directed, that you rarely have a chance to close the distance between your army and the SH.

Damn ForGG qualified. I hope he loses in the Ro16. Have there been any noticeable games after FCK-ForGG G1?

People lost interest after that and were raging here instead of watching any games.

Puck had two 40 minute games which were pretty exciting as far as slow-motion train wrecks go. Both games Puck was up 40 supply with much better tech and upgrades by the 15-20 minute mark, but instead of going aggressive he decided to pull his forces back, let FireCake max out, and then get in a split map macro war against mass SH, Viper, and static D. He made a valiant effort out of it, but the end was pretty inevitable.

People weren't raging because of the swarmhosts per se this time, but about how ForGG put up a vulgar display of gamesmanship. Then there was more SH for sure, but I for one, did not pay attention to the match anymore.

I seem to remember there was a 2 hour game where the draw actually did happen not so long ago. Both players were broke at 100 supply, one had swarm hosts, the other had tanks. Neither wanted to go on the offensive though so they finally agreed to a draw.
I'm hoping that he just drastically misread the situation and that's the scenario he thought was happening. Although yeah, from a player like ForGG, "There's a small amount of hope I might still win this" comes across more like "I have so little faith in my opponent that he'll probably move command into my army any minute now".

I believe you're talking about the infamous Soulkey vs Reality in ProLeague last season.

I really thought ForGG was trolling yesterday. Firecake said on winner interview that long swarm hosts game was very exhausting for him and when I saw ForGG retreating in his base, I took this as a move to make FireCake tired so he would eventually lose the next long games against puCK.
Remember : ForGG is in Millenium team along Lilbow, Dayshi and MarineLord, who HATE FireCake. I can see those 3 ask ForGG to troll the zerg if they met each other in WCS.

Firecake looks chill as fuck during the last interview.
