-------------------------------------EDIT-------------------------------------
After the first qualifier we have pretty much met our initial funding goal! We would, of course, love to raise more for a larger prize pool so the donation option will remain open but we are at Current Prize Pool: $2920 / $3,000
My apologies for the small hiccups that began the event, but I am pretty happy with how the overall qualifier ran, and I look very forward to our next one on the 18th Information below
QUALIFIER #2 Monday, Aug 18 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) http://challonge.com/BaseTradeTV2
Please keep in mind that the time stamp above is tailored to your TL account, so please make sure you are logged in to see exactly when the qualifier begins, at your local time
I look forward to seeing Bly Nerchio InZaNe and PiG in our top 16 :-)
-------------------------------------EDIT-------------------------------------
After our last tournament, we managed to make back a small portion of the tournament's cost through donations & ad revenue (Blanket thank you to all those who got involved) We wanted to recycle this money into another tournament, and we are aiming to host something in the first week of September!
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/AzkiEZA.png)
We're also going to do something pretty unique, and involve non-koreans only. There will be some who disagree with this choice, but it's not done out of spite or malice, but out of celebration & excitement for the foreigners! Everything will be European focus, and anyone from NA is welcome to try to play, but all matches will be on the EU server.
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/auA5Dyr.png)
Okay so here's the bottom line: We currently have a little under $1,000 to put towards this. I'd love to make this prize pool as large as possible, and to do this we'll need your help. Our last tournament had no sponsorships behind it, and at the time of this post there are none involved with this one either. If you'd like to sponsor the event please contact Rifkin at MapControlCO@Gmail.com to have things like videos played, shout outs, or logo placement.
Prize Pool Format 1st place - $1,500 2nd place - $1,000 3rd/4th place - $200/$100 5-8th place - $50
Below is a link & paypal account that has been designated 100% towards holding the funds for the tournament (Making it a lot easier to tally up totals without involving a third party site) We hope we can fully fund this event and continue to create more kick ass SC2 content for you all.

TLDR

Hell yeah! You did such a great job with The Big One, so looking forward to this!
|
excited to play in the qualifiers :D
|
|
Making half invite is fine I guess. Still would love to see more qualifier-only tournaments or at least a 3/4 portion. Maybe this could be realised in the future?!
|
At first I thought it was Willing To Buy European and I was like wtf lol. Anyway, who are you planning to invite?

Awesome! $25 donated! Enjoy! ♥
|
Awesome I hope all foreigners can take a shot at qualifying!
|
Should be 2500€, in my opinion.
|
Would be cool if you could let us know the invites beforehand. I'm sure people would be willing to pitch in more if they knew their favorite players or countrymen are participating.
|
Welmu is going to rekt this tournament

|
A new tournament so soon after The Big One?! Holy fucking amazeballs you guys are awesome. :O
|
|
Awesome. If Namshar wins I'm calling !rigged.
|
The Big One was really good so for those questioning whether this is worth supporting or not, go for it!
|
Some updates to clear some things up:
There will be 0 invites for any NA players, they will have to play the qualifiers if they wish to play
Qualifier times/dates will be announced within the next 2-3 days
|
Yay for more Basetrade tournaments :3

Awesome to hear! <3 BasetradeTV

Rif, there is no need to explicitely add the time when the post was updated, as TL does so automatically.
|
Great idea! Looking forward to it! I hope you invite some old school europeans like HasuObs and Socke!
|
Very cool tournament, looking forward to see this! ...and I agree with others, good with more slots available through qualifiers and less invitees! I love to watch qualifiers too, and somehow it is fair and nice that everyone gets a chance. Ofc, a few wild card invitees is always good for the organizers, I can definitely see that, but let more qualify and less be invited and we all get more fun fun fun in the end!
Oh and if Namshar wins this I will cry sweet pearly tears of joy!

I always assumed "WTB" meant "want to buy", so your headline looked very suspicious.

it does, it's word play, sort of.

If there is two american players or two SEA region players and they go up against each other, they don't have to play on EU right, just when there is a european involved, i guess?

SlayersBoner, ImAnAi seeded into round 2 while TargA and Nerchio have to battle it out from round 1, I see that the system has its priorities set right.

I wonder when people will switch to ebays or raks for walls past 200 supply. Makes so much more sense.

This is so sad to watch. 3 base into defensive planetaries and ravens. Terrans who play like this are the biggest aids ever, forcing the zerg into turtle swarm host 3 hour game because you can't attack in to the terran. Somehow Tefel still manages to do some damage with roach hydra, really awesome play by Tefel.

Honestly sticking on roach hydra this long will get you killed unsurprisingly. It's unfortunate that the better units to deal with this for Zerg are kind of boring.

This strategy is kind of boring from Lillekanin but tbh if you know Tefel's style this is a pretty smart thing to do

Yeah, the terran can always force the game into a turtle game if he wants to since he doesn't need more than 3 bases to build enough mech slowly to not die with walls etc and then take a 4th... I can't believe how some people manage to play/practise that style without going insane.

I play Terran and I personally never play like this because I think it is boring but I do think it is quite good at holding 2-2 roach/hydra timings which are fairly popular these days. Either way I think it's sort of a silly way to play :D

he was at least mannered though lol

Just doing that style is bad mannered in itself imo. If I knew that someone would play such a style at the start of the game I'd probably just leave and play 4 games instead of wasting my time sitting trying to kill a terran who has just decided to never attack.

Many drones were hurt making this movie.
I love Lillekanin, he is just chronically incapable of having boring games
|
|
I wonder if Lillekanin actually can play standard or if he only relies on gimmicky shit or never leave the base for 30 mins. Really dislikable style he showed here atleast.

"hmm roach hydra didnt work. ill add vipers *flies vipers to their deaths without casting anything" "hmm hellions. i have lots of drones, so if they all attack then the hellions should die"

oh bly plays in this! gogo bly vs sjaak would be kewl
also a strange decision to allow pig play but not koreans, don't get it. it's better to go full region lock. but that's just my opinion

Nerchio: "Your drone count is low :D" Targa (on 3 drones): "NP"

Targa beat Nerchio on Sunday in the go4sc2 finals on sunday, after Nerchio beat Sacsri and Stardust. I think Targa played a lot of hatch first there to beat Nerchio's safe 15 pool openings and Nerchio just hard countered him today. Not sure, but usually Nerchio wouldn't play like that.

I don't really understand why Pig is allowed to play the qualifier since he is from Australia, how is that any different from Koreans coming to play in Europe?

It's called who's the best european, but as stated in the OP it's a non-korean tournament. Every foreigner can play, they just have to do so on the EU server. So Huk, Scarlett etc. can play too.

Quoted from OP.

|
Great entertainment day 1, hoping for more on Monday!
|
BasetradeTV, I'd suggest listing the qualifiers (and results) in the first post for more visibility.

THE BRACKET YOU SEE IS NOT THE FINAL BRACKET. "This bracket is a preview and subject to change until the tournament is started."
After check in the participant list will get smaller and the brackets will be finalized.
