Personally, I like Shine. Not enough to root for him over the favorites, but Shine creates some fun games to watch. Plus, he knocked out Flash, and while that's not hard to do, it does put him in my good books.

It's damn impressive to me, it seems that he goes out with something weird confident that his opponent will not be able to react as well in a non-standard game as he himself will.
I think that's what separates him from people who just throw out weird builds and hope it works, he knows his in-game reads will stand up in a wonky game.

If you are losing all of your units that are harassing without doing much damage, of course.
sOs lost Mothership Core and like 8 Void Rays, then he kept producing Zealots that were sniping some hatcheries here and there but what, he lost like 50 Zealots?
He was just losing too much without gaining much. Yes, he managed to snipe Soulkey's Hatcheries, but Soulkey always was on three bases, even after sniped Hatcheries.

It was a great mind game though. I mean 14 Pool into allowed a scout of 6 lings and 3 drones on gas. To then stop at 20 gas. $O$ chronos out 2 zealots then wall off his ramp.

Having a tense match between two players of similar skill is not enough, everything is magnified when the players are unbelievable good. The micro during the fight is mind blowing, and just after, the camera goes elsewhere and you realize that sOs was DTing a base while Soulkey did a runby
Really I can see why SH's are called boring but if we just look at this Protoss deathball and how cost-efficient sOs was even against "free units" (well he did good though).
Imagine Zerg has no free units, T3 toss with Colossi and HT would be unbeatable

Ironically enough, there was a 5 minute lull around the time the SH were starting to come out.

It just deviated from the standard mold because of how it unfolded, and both players had to improvise and think on their feet. Almost every game that goes late, and then something weird happens and both players have to start over with kind of disjointed tech and odd bases, will turn out pretty entertaining.

I must say, after sOs vs. Soulkey, this game is so funny and sloppy. I mean, Soulkey was kind of sloppy in his last game, but still was doing amazing job and had almost perfect decision making, this is just funny. :D

I've come to the somewhat counter-intuitive view that Shost and BL/Infestor (to a point) force the best PvZs if you're a Protoss wanting to see multitasking from your fellow Aiur defenders.

Bascially he suicided units like he had 70 probes mining w/ 2k+ mineral income while in reality his income was closer to 1K minerals.

It's semantics but teching does not involve building units. It's going up the tech tree. Teching up's getting what is needed to produce a unit or getting an upgrade for a unit. You can tech to blink whilst never building a blink stalker. Get DT tech but never utilize it. Yonghwa just decided to not produce any tempest.

I don't mind this position for sos, it kind of sputtered for Shine. In any game I've early pooled against Toss, I still feel like I am behind. FF all day though.

I always really liked Yonghwa Sad to see him out, but then again, we have two of the best players in the world in this group, so it really doesn't come as much of a surprise.
Hopefully Shine can beat $O$, never really liked him as a player besides his good GSL run. I wish I could watch, but sadly I am taking summer classes

Game of counters, until zerg gets ultimate composition: SH, Broodlords and investors. U cant get close and then you trade vs free units
If that composition runs into archon/colossi/templar/tempest, you're fucked too. Thing is that PvZ is more like rock scissors paper :/
well the composition does the opposite ofwhat zrrg normally do: fast zhings like runbys and fast attacks. If zerg use that combo they have to slowly push. Like a mech combo or something with a tank involved. Man these races could still learn so much from T like prespletting and micro

I think the maps helped a lot, and just the usual devellopment races/strategies go through seems to be in the hands of Zerg for now - waiting for P to catch up and T to well... Redefine TvZ

No. Shine was massively ahead for the entire time after he caught the void rays. I don't remember a single instance where he wasn't really ahead. SoS had his chances, but his anticipation of muta switch killed all his hopes.
Btw, seeing mass hydras in front of protoss natural filled with cannons was so nolstagic. Especially given that the zerg is Shine.

SKT and Samsung kept 100% of their Code S players, transitioning them to Ro16, it's 10 in summary. Also there are 2 JinAir guys right now, Startale's one, KT Rolster's one and tomorrow we can get first IM guy, Acer, CJ or YoeFW. Might be disaster for IM - starting with 5 and most likely lose everyone if Squirtle doesn't evolve on Friday to Wartortle at least, not speaking about Blastoise.
And if we don't get all-Zerg group in Ro16 with like Life, soO, Soulkey and Solar, i guess one of those 4 will win whole thing. Protosses won't win with this map pool, InNoVation isn't same robot and Maru will lose to Zerg.

Dont get it either. Toss in general is least fun to watch. To me, even playing is less fun, as there isn't that much to do as compared to zerg(injects, creep, harassement(runbuys or muta micro). or terran(micro, make buildings and simcity, constant harassement, lresplitting or seaching forward etc.) With toss it always feels like make one army and babysit it till you go. But that wasnt true today, as we have seen tech switches, multi harassement and some micro. Although not enough, cause otherwise shine wouldn't have been at the final BO3

Maru is actually not a bad choice, he's been getting a lot better at TvZ and I don't think I've seen him lose a TvP since the mine patch... or before that to be honest.

Life has probably best chances if he doesn't get all-Protoss group in Ro16, it's very likely that there will be 4-5 Zergs in Ro8. But in general, i would have said SKT T1 Zergs have biggest chance of winning it and TRUE as dark horse after his impressive ZvZ showings in Ro32.
Maru to win has to get sick bracket really, i don't see him even coming from Ro16 if he hits bunch of stable Zergs. Rain is impressive right now, but his PvZ is very predictable, everyone knows how Rain plays.

The thing about Rain is that he doesn't care. He will play the same way he always does and he will beat you with it. All he needs is to be on point which he's been ever since this round of PL started.
His record this Proleague round is at 6-1, beating Rogue, Shine, Hydra, sOs, Leenock and Zest. He's the most common ace pick for SKT and he's going to win this season.

I await to see whether fellow Protoss competitors can emulate his approaches or if his innovation will maintain his unique position in the marketplace.
I've never been one to be happy when player loses.. But as a Zerg who hates getting cannon rushed, I'm glad sos is out! Can't wait to watch these games.

All of these games are irrelevant anyways since soO and a royal road protoss (Stork) are still in the tournament. We already know who is going to be in the finals and who is going to win
Sorry if this has been brought up already, but all the sudden as of today my twitch GSL subscription seemed to run out. I only bought one ticket the beginning of this year which I thought would only last the first season but it continued just until group G season 2 which struck me as odd, does the subscription last a duration depending on the subscription date?
I'm just bummed cause I can't spare to grab another ticket right now and was enjoying the current season, but I understand if I wasn't supposed to be able to in the first place.

This is why I lose my shit when people freak out over a potential acquisition of Twitch, as if they're continually improving and any acquisition will fuck everything up. Innovation is exactly the same robot, that's the entire problem. Right now bio is weak in TvZ, while to win with mech you have to rely on inconsistent all-inish builds, which was never his forte.

This is correct. Last year (2013) there was the amazing Soulkey vs Innovation finals. I hope now, one year later, (2014) to see a rematch. It is unlikely, so I just made a "joke reason" why it will happen. So I put my last year GSL Finals card on the left, and was alluding to my hope I will soon have another card to put on the right from this GSL Finals.

game 1 - cannon rush game 2 - cannon rush game 3 - 10 pool (won against Nexus first which seems odd on Merry Go Round against Shine) game 4 - Shine expanded to gold and so did sOs. Immortal all-in which was defended but Shine being Shine tried to counter instead of macroing and lost game 5 - straight up macro game and for the first time in a long time, Shine deserved the praise "great fungal"
