That's exciting! It's somewhat worrisome as the possibility exists that someone will find one of the top maps slightly exploitable or favoring a particular race (it's happened in TLMCs before) but then again people are better than ever at spotting that stuff before it becomes a problem now.

On October 31 2013 08:31 xYc wrote: I'm curious, why can't people from Quebec participate?
Quebec requires all contests applicable to them to be registered in Quebec and it's generally a huge hassle (and not doable on short notice).
Actually, when the total prize money is below 2000$, those laws do not apply.
A shame, I doubt a trip from Quebec to New York is worth that much, making the total prize money under 2000$.
According to the article the first place prize fir the qualifier is a minimum of 2k (plane tickets, prizemoney, etc). When you include the second and third places, it's over 2k easily

This bracket; A few first round matches: JYP vs Oz (poor EG), SortOf vs HerO, San vs SongDuri, Squirtle vs NightEnD, TLO vs Skyhigh, Yonghwa vs Harstem, Losira vs Suppy, BBjong vs Babyknight. That is so stacked.

Or maybe water rising and slowing units down. Or water map with timer on frozen water and all units start skating.
I would always take the gold at the start as terran on habitation station there airway is so short ... maybe even neo steel so you could save 15 workers if someone tries attacking.
So what's up with HerO? First SortOf apparently got WO over him, now HerO seemingly got WO over SortOf and now Ruin seems to have gotten a walkover over HerO.

The rocks which are covering the gas geysers on Jungle Valley might need to be changed a bit so that the gas is more visible, On some spawn locations the gasses are nearly invisible and players might not know they are covering gas.
This guy on Basetrade TV is so painful to listen to. He is constantly whining about some particular features of the map eventhough the Red Bull TLMC was aiming to develop the creativity of the map maker and get some crazy maps. The constant whining and the fact that he didn't even bother getting some informations about the maps before the tournament is making the show awful
BasetradeTV check out my honest reviews on the maps.. Blitzkrieg 5/5 + Show Spoiler +
The watch tower misses the little shortest path between the mains like the horrible map "Klontas Mire TE". But in the late game it will see every late game it will see every siege tank, ultralisk, archon and thor. There have been watch towers in the past where they are all seeing, and ones that are don't see much at all. So all together this watch tower is pretty good. Aside from that it is using the Neo-1v1 spawn positions. The 3rd base is for Terran and Protoss going to be a which one do I take, like on "Frost." (Terran and Protoss have more choices in taking bases since they can wall off the game. That ramp above third.
Not the most open map I have ever seen. The Backyard base is able to get into so it's not completely imbalanced for a certain race. Rocks are able to be killed for better pathing and better flanks. Although there is a easy to take backyard the natural is very hard to take. Also a small high ground plateau above a want to say 4th where a tank can be planted (Like lost temple!). both gases for backyard and natural are on one side sadly making it hard for zerg to see gas timings.
So it is pretty rampy and condensed on the left and right side. But the in the middle it is wide open. You play the map with your eyes first and I love the textures that they are using the "Star Station" and Jungle effect. dang it imba watch towers. Golds!!
Semi-Island.. Rocks... Protoss and Terran will have fun with this map. Zerg will have to go try hard mode use nydus Mutas cry them selves to sleep. "Dustin Browder Map". Possible funny rock blocking gas making air play a little less strong.
Brood War Version and Where lava spawns! Remake of a great Brood War map. But lava that kills creep spread! Wish I would see the mineral only the original had on the 3rd and a rich vespene geysers @ 4th to get the vibes of the brood war map.
Ok rocks and pathing make this map fantastic. It's "cray-cray" 4th bases with rich vespene geysers. Check out the map to see the possible pathing it's crazy you will never ever see the same looking game on this map.
Crazy sick textures! 3rds are not so close, so it promotes low-econ play. The "Xel naga caverns" of hots? There is a close air 3rd with ground takes longer to get to. Or a 3rd that is faster to get by ground. You get to decide how to split the map not the map's choice. Has a rich vespene geyser near the ramps.
Remake of a great Brood War map. But lava that kills creep spread! I am not sure why there are expansions on low ground making terran imba imba imba imba imba imba imba imba!
There aren't. All bases are on high or mid ground.

Loser picks format. It is the starting map for both semifinals so you'll see it on basetrade today
Before the tournament started I predicted protoss would do well.. pretty much just because players don't auto-know where poxy pylons would go, so they would lose games now that wouldn't happen (as often) in a month, if all these maps were kept.
lack of scouting from cjhero is pretty disappointing at this stage of hots. You would expect a pro to scout o.o
Do you like.. not watch pros play? They rarely scout - unless terrans have reapers, anyway.

It's probably more that Protoss is good on newer maps because pylon locations aren't standardised etc.
The way the bracket was set up was also pretty advantageous, PartinG played no zergs and so he got to showcase his PvT, and on the other side same thing for San and Yonghwa in PvZ...
Hey guys! Here are my VoDs from today:(Just twitch links for now, I'll come back to update with youtube tomorrow when they are uploaded) Make sure to check out the new maps, they are pretty rad!

If this was world war 2 and we had a progamer named "DeJew" or "DePopulate" or "DeChristian". People would immedietely call him out on it. I think the silence and allowing him to keep that name and spread anti muslim sentiment secretly is disgusting. DeMuslim could most possibily mean to De populate muslims. And we are seeing that happening all over the world. Coincidence that he chose that name? I think not. Someone needs to file a lawsuit against EG and make him change his name.
I think you have the wrong thread. Also, this post is really bad.
I guess I'm just mad because they fired Idra the only player I like on Evil Geniuses. I just think they are a hypocritical team to fire someone for being hateful yet allow it to go on in a different light

Sora's PvP isn't exactly as masterful as you believe, and he is only smashing Bong so far because it's a bit of a mismatch. And his most recent PvZs have him losing to TRUE and Shine 1-2 each, so it isn't exactly as positive as you believe.
Sora and Dear are the two protosses I can't understand right now.
Like, I know Parting and Rain are good, but when I see them play, I understand what's happening and why it's happening. And they lose when they're supposed to lose. These two look like they have the capacity to just decide that they'll win. Kind of like StarDust did a lot of the time, except they're better versions and they're playing better opponents.

Honestly, thats the thing I enjoy most about watching Dear. Its almost like he can just will himself to victory.
Very nice game one, Sora abusing the non-mobility of SH based compositions. I also feel it isn't the best map for it, very hard to take a 5th base for the zerg.
ToD is rocking the casting, my favourite caster (after Engine, legendary facewasher) for sure! I too like how he often is amazed by plays and expresses his appreciation!

Would like to see HyuN utilize his strength in the mid-game rather than play in a difficult situation in the late late-game against a player like Sora who has shown his patience and skill in the match-up.

these two casting wc3 is the greatest experience in the history of mankind. them casting sc2 comes very close.
Holy crap. Majorly impressed from Sora that game despite the results. How he dragged that game on that long with such a low immortal count was impressive.
Sora's target fire and stalker/colossus micro was very impressive. Considering he was fairly behind the entire game, he almost had it. That's the power of the keyblade.

also triple evo. dat shit cray.
Ok full disclosure here. Mvp has a much better shot to win than aLive. aLive is maybe the least likely player there to win. Blind fanboyism OP!
Great counter by Sora. The phoenix scouting and the MSC recall makes this type of moveout very safe. Killing that fourth really delays the push from HyuN.
Also big supply block at 118, doesn't matter that much since he spent all his money on +2+2+2 upgrades :D

Thanks! That's the nicest thing someone has said about aLive's chances on TL all week!
What a game! Hyun' had like 90+ drones 3 evo chambers going and a hive on the way around the 14 minute mark. Sora had flawless late game decision making and crisis management. It was like the zerg might vs protoss foresight.
HyuN has the advantage mid-game, but Sora is superior in the late-game clearly. If HyuN learns from the pattern and tries to finish it at least by mid-game, it should finish. If Sora can take game 6, we at least get an additional game to an epic series.
Great series despite a sloppy mistake from Sora with the Sentries. Definitely happy to see one of the greatest ZvP series in a while and HyuN qualifying for Red Bull Battlegrounds. Kudos to Sora, he gave his best and proved he can play with the best, I gained some enormous respect for this guy.
Scarlett is blind countering a reaper opening. Yeonsu is the by far best reaper map in the map pool. I've seen Suppy do a 9-10 scout on some maps, going pool first if the terran player is going reaper.
I guess Scarlett is confident in her ability to beat qxc in a macro game, and is fine with starting behind vs a CC first build.
Huk loses all 3 of his Nexus and does not have enough money to build a new one so he must all in... even if he has 20 probes and infrastructure at 3 bases....
Was there any feedback from any of the players during the tournament?
Wondering if on some korea website they were talking about it at all. I'd love to get Partings thoughts on it all. Plexa, set up an interview! Come on now!
