Edit: oh well, he realized. Targa can't lose if he stays around his spores ^^
called it. he didn't stay around his crawlers...

Targa played so bad, fungal on almost all voidrays, tod activates them; then Targa just thinks hey let me send my small amounts of corruptors into them while getting stormed because why not.

1 hour game and then a-move!

That's exactly what I thought, yet the commentators seem really surprised. Void ray/carrier is basically unbeatable for zerg. especially if half your supply is swarm hosts.
Carrier > tempests once you reach a critical mass they destroy things very quickly.

So long as he kills the Corruptors he's fine - that's the only thing that can actually do damage to him. Which the voids rays could probably have done by themselves because they're insanely efficient vs. corruptors. The insane DPS of the carriers was just icing on the cake. ya although I think we need to keep in mind the fungals from the infestors. If he got a couple off, that's half the hp gone etc...

what? targa was way ahead and he could have killed tod ages ago but he decided not to attack tod and let him mass bases and carriers...

That was ironic.

Casters asking why he chose carriers. Because they have ridiculously high DPS (much more than tempests) as well as a lot of health...

Targa went from about 6000 minerals to 1000 minerals over 5 minutes building SPINECRAWLERS against the massive air army of Tod. Even if Targa had managed to have an even engagement, he threw away his entire bank fortifying a position where fortifications would've been, and were, useless.

How does ToD have any fans, with all the times he's given them heart attacks you'd think they'd all be dead.

Even if he got every void ray, by the time they died there were still enough carriers to kill the remaining AA.

Maybe he feared a ground transition after? :S

static defense. You can't win army vs army, but you can win army vs army+spores. And when he doesn't want to fight, you can fly around with Viper/Corruptor for as long as you want and abduct single units, until he is dead. Targa just didn't play it out well in the end and Tod was really clever going for somthing like 180 armysupply nearly all in airunits and swinging in from an angle without spores, against an opponent who had half his supply in units that aren't capable of attacking air.

The other often over-looked aspect to that last battle is that Void Rays & Carriers both are extremely sensitive to air upgrades. According to liquipedia stats, each upgrade increases Carrier DPS by 20% (vs. 10% for Tempests). ToD either had 3/2 or 3/3 at the end there.

The problem was that Targa allowed ToD to do it. Maybe in the end he had little choice, but he should have way earlier pressured Tod. So Tod would be forced to either defend his bases, and once in a while get pulled in by vipers, or go for a base trade but already lose half your own bases before you arrive at the enemies base.
But without Targa pressuring Tod he could happily do whatever he want.
