at least thats how it was in WoL :x

I think both players microed quite a lot in these fights. Target fire to snipe weak mutas and back off etc.

i always wondered why zergs get carapace first, in a muta vs muta fight +1 attack is just as useful as +1 carapace is it?

+1 attack gives you +1+1/3+1/9 damage on the 3 bounces, +1 armour is -3 damage vs 3 bounces.

(Technically it reduces last bounce by less because minimum damage is 0.5.)

what is always ignored is that the front mutas die faster with attack upgrades so they no longer deal damage, also its 50/50 cheaper

hmm front muta doesn't die faster because the armor negate the attack upgrade on the first attack but negates more than the upgrade on the bounces.

There is a fair point to be made though that 50/50 difference plus attack being better against other stuff still makes attack a good choice. Still some simple tests just show that +1 carapace flocks beats +1 attack flock quite well probably making up for the 50/50.
Of course there are quite many scenario's to test, lings absorbing damage die faster with attack upgrade. Overlords absorbing get better with carapace. etc.

Always the cynical i see unless it's about terran. They both targeted lower health muta's nothing A move about it.

i thought during big muta fights it was better to amove rather than try to individually target or something?

maybe early on but I think targetting is better once they get down < 10?

depends on your playstyle, if you go for plus 1 attack like leenock just did, you want to single target mutas in many situations

Didn't watch the game but in most situation it was always a move because of spread of fire.

In lower numbers its sensible to target weaker mutas.

Are you kidding me...

No? Being able to tell who's going to win because one guy started mining from an extra extractor before the other guy isn't very engaging.

Sure I like ling bling wars, but once that's over, what do we have? We got mutas.

well you could argue PvP used to be all about who build the second robo first... it's a matter of taste, no need to impose your opinion on others

I agree PVP imo is the most boring mirror by quite a bit. I love the constant action of zvz. ALso we saw zero earlier try going swarm host in zvz lol. (didnt work out too well)

True, when you get to 25+ it's A move time. Those mostly were lower groupings and it's better to target specialy if you have the + attack. (as far as i know)

you target-fire with small groups of your muta cloud to not stack up too much
I think Leenock used target-fire with small groups of 2-3 mutas after the initial first and second volley
Just ahead of time, know your addiction's not a crime. It's just a smaller part of who you want to become in the end.

I think your right, if you target fire, doesnt it make your mutas clump, and thus vulnerable to the muta splash?

Carapace is better

but why? doesnt +1 attack give u +1 dmg on every bounce whereas +1 carapace reduces 1 dmg from every bounce?

As others have said, first bounce is +1/3 and second bounce is +1/9.

how do mutas deal 1/9 dmg tho?

Look, Mutas deal damage like this:
-100%
-first bounce 33%
-second bounce 11%

So, it does 9/3/1 damage to 3 targets. If you upgrade +1 attack, it does 10/3/1 damage to 3 targets. Only with +3 attack it does 12/4/1 because 33% of 12 is 4.

Do you get it now?

i always got it, i was just always under the impression +1 attack gives +1/+1/+1 while +2 only increases the main attack.
