doesn't matter what build nightend did, stephano could beat him with just lings either way, they are leagues apart

Imo, once you get to that position it is already too late to change the plan. Not a lot of option left to you when you are so far behind on economy and tech.

I think a hard hitting +2 blink stalker all in, or a voidray zealot all in would have been more successful than this weird mixed all in.

It felt like Stephano was assuming a 3rd base for Nightend behind the stargate pressure and made lings to deny that, when he scouted that there is no 3rd he ran around until he found the stalkers and it was pretty clear from there on

Nice player colors on ForGG vs ClouD game 3, haha (maybe they were the same the two previous games, wasn't watching).

Actually i didnt, I watch quite a bit SC2 when i get the time but unfortunatly watching a a Protoss turtle until they do a 2 base timing or go go for a 25 late game win with Vortex bores the shit out of me
Hero was exciting for a bit, until he realised that to win you cant be creative with Protoss.
Edit:
My comments are based on PvZ btw

Maybe they are more evenly matched? And I believe Moon and Sase have a larger fan base than Taeja and Bly.

it wasn't lucky. he saw that there was no 3rd and then he build 35 zerglings. It's not like nightend could have had colosses at that time when opening stargate. the only thing that could have damaged stephano there would have been an archon all in.

Nope those players are boring sorry. just because they win doest mean they are good to watch Parting is boring? Rain is boring? Come on now. Don't be silly. ikr... Rain has gotta be one of the most awesome protosses to watch. Creator, Squirtle, and Seed could indeed be boring. But Rain? No.
True. Seed's play makes my head hurt (effective but seriously lacking any beauty). Squirtle's and Creator's is edible (exceprt from the colossus all-ins PvT).
But Rain dude? He is a treat to watch. Everything from reflexes to micro to macro to strats to game plan is wonderful...

That was a pretty weird panic-allin reaction to a scouted stargate -.- That was actually his strategy. How can that possibly be the case? Have you ever played ZvP (or PvZ)? The single voidray into gateway unit all-in isn't that uncommon of a strategy. The idea is to force static defense and then wipe the floor out of your opponent with a massive burst of gateway units.

He made the Void Ray to force a reaction out of Stephano, which came in the form of Spore Crawlers. It was a smart decision, but he should have used a different followup. Archon/Zealot all in would have worked a lot better against this Ling style from Stephano instead of Blink Stalkers. Blink Stalkers get crushed by Upgraded Lings.. The thing is that along with the blink and the late +1 and the stargate and making 8 gate stalkers off 2 bases(note you can't support this) it meant that his build would lose against practically anything and it hit too late. That's why I said it was panic, I don't think he'd plan a build that is that bad.
|
Making those lings was a smart move anyway. Fast lings enable him to get map scouting when Void Rays are out. He had one spore at each mineral line. This safeguards his mining from Void Ray play unless there are a lot of them or Phoenixes. He ran his lings around and only saw one Void Ray. NightEnd still has never beaten Stephano. Very tough draw for him considering that record.

The fact that he didn't build a single roach though really allowed him to power this many lings, which hard countered Nightend though. If he would have invested in just a few roaches he would have lost this imho.

Because Sase vs Moon might be close and both players have fans
Whereas Taeja is probably going to stomp Bly and only one player has (m)any fans
