I prefer Korean commentary for Brood War and am not the biggest fan of Moletrap, but some people prefer to actually listen to something they can understand.

Yeah, English commentary walks a fine line between "being understandable" and "being bad." (Except Sayle! :D And maybe ooooophidian; I haven't heard you though... :/)

Sad but true, many English casters have no idea what they're saying.
It was irritating as hell to listen to MLG casters this weekend.
I'm only gold level and it's sad that I know more than some of these "professional" casters.

Doa and Moletrap are decent at play-by-play, but neither of them are any good at analytical casting.

I was watching DRG play MMA at IPL LA (doa & cats pajamas), and I could spot the difference between a 3 hatch or a roach bane rush a whole 3 minutes before the casters have a clue. Thinking about this keeps me up at night sometimes.

I cast with Doa and I've been a fan of his work in the past. He is definitely capable of great analysis and can support a hype man very well (much like in IPL with CatsPajamas). You might want to give him another chance, as he was going through a rough time and it's likely that affected his casting. He's even said he is highly ambitious in the game and wants to be able to take games off pros (playing 20+ games a day on ladder from what he said recently, I believe).

Many foreign casters do neglect it, though, even day9 mostly just yells during his casting even though he does strong analysis in his show and obviously knows what he's talking about. Personally I think this is to cater to the majority of the foreign audience who doesn't care about analysis. Thankfully people like dApollo get a lot of work and help make tournament content interesting for the rest of us.

Torch might redeem the cast slightly I suppose, I couldn't watch any of the GSL Code A stuff with Doa and Moletrap casting.

I'll probably just listen to the Korean cast or muted.

I feel bad for being harsh on DOA.
I really like him and he's definitely up there( as well as being super nice).
Maybe I'm just irritated at the mundane things he talks about, such as "tanks are really good on the high ground!"
and "warp prisms can be effective harass play"

iono,
maybe IPL overworked the guy.
he seemed tired that day.

I like Doa.
I like Moletrap when commentating BW.

Do not like Doa and Moletrap commentating together.

Lets go DRG!!!!

Also I really like Doa. To be fair hes been going through a divorce recently and his casting is still so professional. I hope he can make it out to Korea soon.

Apollo is great. I remember he was once asked to cast BW WCG despite having transitioned to SC2 and having little background in BW. He used all his contacts to gather as much info about the players, maps and match-ups to prepare for the games. Probably the only English caster I support.

And, please, no Khaldor in OSL. I like him, but I don't think we need a caster that's completely cluelss about BW progamers.

Agreed. Apollo is one of those guys that can hype up a crowd while also being capable of showing off strong analyzing skills and knowledge of the game at a high level.
Lol I remember the WCS KR Prelims where it was MMA vs SoulKey...Khaldor had no idea who Soulkey was T__T. It was mildly depressing.

You underestimate the power of OGN's commercials, replays and interviews.

if you are in gold theres no way in hell you know more than professional casters, maybe you know marauder counters stalker and zergling is not good against zealot but they actually know what they are talking about

i hope you dont take it too offensive but a lot of people in your level of the game think they know a lot and thats not... really... the truth...

Oh, and GSL players fighting!

Not necessarily. The broadcaster can choose to disable the instant Twitch VODs. TSL4, for example, has VODs disabled

I think he is the best of these four KeSPA players, but his opponent is probably the (current vT) toughest of the four non-KeSPA players.
