The time has come for our twenty-third IGN Pro League Fight Club! This is a weekly king of the hill showmatch series. Basically, there will be a 1 vs. 1 best of 9 showmatch each and every week, where the winner will earn a $500 prize and a $100 bounty on their head. For example, if a player wins three weeks in a row they will have earned $1,500 and a $300 bounty. If a NEW challenger defeats him, they will earn $500 for the showmatch, take the $300 bounty home, and have a new $100 bounty placed on their head for each week that they win. (Similar to IPL Team Arena, but without the teams!)
When: Monday, Jun 25 11:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also broadcast the match repeatedly afterwards!)
MarineKing is off to a great start in Fight Club, dispatching Liquid`TaeJa 5-1 last week! This week, EG's Korean Protoss player JYP steps up to the plate to take a swing at MKP. Will he be able to topple perhaps the strongest player we've ever had on Fight Club? Tune in to find out!
Oh man lol, this should definitely be a 5-0, very unfortunate that JYP gets his chance during MKP's reign. Would have been closer for sure if it was PvP or PvZ, MKP's best MU vs JYP's worst T______________T
I feel as if watching JYP's recent PvT he's actually gotten much better at the MU, his game vs thestc in the up and downs in particular showed that JYP has very solid straight up PvT these days. But marineking is marineking and he should be able to take it easily but I expect JYP to go down swinging 5-2, one in a straight up game on one of the protoss favoured maps like cloud kingdom and another with MKP trying something too flashy and being shut down for it.
Regardless of how lame this showmatch may be, thanks for rebroadcasting it immediately after. That's a nice idea. Hope more organizations catch on. I'll be at work, but this means I can still watch after I get home. :D
I'm surprised it's been so many koreans vs koreans lately as fight club started out more of a mix of both. This is my way of saying, MKP needs more foreigners to feast on.

I would tell you its because they want more fair fights, and they can't always get a top foreigner, then I saw MKP vs JYP and I dropped that idea completely.

Either way 5-2 MKP
I'm sure JYP has fans, I like his play, but his competing against MKP, not only is MKP far better in the matchup than him as far as we know, but his also one of the koreans with the most fans.
Poor JYP. I guess it was just unlucky timing for him to come into this fight club =/ As much as I'd love to see JYP upset MKP it's just next to unfathomable with JYPS PvT.

Well, I guess 1Rax 4CC 2 Ebays with only one Bunker is different, but I don't think I'll be copying it any time soon.

less stuff if pf tho. it's a trade-off If I said something stupid it's cause I didn't watch the game
Void Ray all in 101: -Don't charge on rocks and then lose charge by forgetting to actually attack with it -Have a forward Pylon
I don't know what's going on with JYP here. Like. . .he's obviously not the best at PvT, but he's still a great player who should be showing better than this.

He only had like 5 rines or something, so it's worth it. Next thing you know, PF to counter 4 gates becomes viable.

Because Jyp was just floating like 1200-400. MKP just has better macro than him
MKP just seems like he has better macro than EVERYONE, I always seem to see him take either supply leads or just never fall past a certain supply threshold.
JYP looked like he wanted to do a 3 Colossi timing and then kind of. . .missed it? I guess maybe he was scared because he lost all the shields on two Colossi by mistake. I don't even know.

Seriously powerful macro MKP has.
True. His macro has really come a long way since the end of 2011. It used to be one of the weakest points of his game but he must have really spent a lot of time working on it. His mechanics are improving drastically. He no longer just has to hope that his unit control can bail him out of most situations
It's quite simple: either they bring in a very top Zerg, or MVP. Protoss players just can't beat MKP in a Bo9, and lesser Terrans will just get proxy marauder'd to death :D

edit: lol and is that a joke? Brackets? Plays tons of toss in his "weakest matchup" including fucking Parting, and you think he had an easy bracket? Nice one
How much is that for brackets and luck? MVP has one tournament. MKP is doing well in everything he goes to.
Brackets and luck and matchups are always a factor and it's easy to make that argument for anyone and any competition.
Anyway until MKP shoot down his GSL duck he won't be unanimous best terran. It's something he has to--and will I think--win. But saying who's better between the two of them is just splitting hairs; they are equal bros (foreign success vs GSL success, head-to-head, blabla just put it aside) stop fighting :p

I don't know, MVP only had to play his worse matchup against the best PvT players over and over again - oh, and he can't grind away practice games because of his wrist (he said he currently plays 10 games a day)
DRG vs. MKP has never been a rivalry for me. They are both top players so it seems naturally that they meet up at the finals especially given the double elimination format. MVP vs MKP in my opinions is the best rivalry out there (next to IdrA vs Protoss) because MVP has swept aside MKP every time they've met. I would love to see MKP face off against MVP, just to see if he has truly improved.

If they meet in the GSL, Mvp is likely to win because of his great ability in planning out strategies for an entire series.
If they meet in a tournament like MLG or any tournament without a long lead time to the series, MKP will win.

Not exactly the most relevant piece of evidence, but Mvp had beat MKP in Providence 2-0, so Mvp is quite capable of beating MKP in MLG-like settings, but in his current state, I doubt it is possible.
I would have absolutely no idea if MKP or MVP would win in a GSL-setting. I think MKP would win on ladder, and maybe weekend tournaments like IPL or MLG, but MVP is such a boss in GSL.

rivalries are supposed to be fairly even though haha

Dont ever doubt a fourth time GSL champion.
MKP is the best player of foreign tournaments, but MVP would rather have time to pick out exactly how he wants to play against a certain player, something that MKP is not very good at doing.

This is off topic, but there is a reason that in professional sports players who injure themselves are ordered to take time off (even if they think their injuries are not overly dangerous). I like MVP but he needs to take a break to fix his wrist; the way he describes the pain makes this whole thing sound very dangerous.
Back to topic, I would really like to see MKP vs MVP but IPL doesn't necessarily need to send out someone who can take him down. They haven't had one play dominate the IPL FC, and I could see MKP being the one to do it.

At current metagame a top zerg like DRG and Symbol should be slightly favored against MKP in a BO9.

The first loss was MKP going a trollish 4CC off 1 Barracks and he just died. The second was a proxy gate vs 15CC which damaged MKP a lot. He died a bit later
