I believe the other matchups (since Liquipedia isn't updated yet) is Huk vs. Ganzi, Ret vs. Demuslim, Puma vs. Alive, and Hero vs. Ryung, although I could be completely wrong about these.
Edit: Now liquipedia has caught up, at least I wasn't wrong

I would love for Sen to win. BUT... 2012 MLG Spring Championship Alicia got 2nd place, defeating MKP, losing to DRG. Sure, if Sen plays as well as DRG, Sen could... win.
Puzzle > TT1 Alicia > Sen MC > Galaxy Stephano > Beasty
Are the favorites. But who's going to make an upset?
TT1 is in great form, and PvP is unstable enough that he is able to catch Puzzle off guard.
Sen is an awesome clutch player, and while Alicia is a solid player who made a great run in MLG, he did get 2-0'd by Stephano and his PvZ wasn't enough to beat the very top level Zergs.
Galaxy is an up and comer who people don't know a lot about. That includes MC.
BeastyQT beat Stephano in the last team match they had, and Stephano spent the last few days traveling and getting thrown out of venues by security guards for being drunk.
All of them are able to make upsets, I think, and that's what makes this night of NASL great.

I think that Stephano also spent part of last weekend at DreamHack crushing through various Terrans such as Puma, Morrow and Keen. Also the previous weekend he beat Polt, Rain, Ganzi at MLG Spring Championship. So unless he is planning to have some more vodka with 2GD before this match, Stephano's recent impressive ZvT results are probably going to be more pertinent to this Bo5!
BeastyQT is an excellent Terran, but he will be up against it in Stephano based on recent form.

The result of being an extremely long tournament that's not GSL or TSL is after a while people will stop noticing the regular season.
Yeah, I had no idea what these matches were about until very recently. I hope NASL finds a way to market their stuff better because it has been a really good season.

Bleh.
Rooting for upsets because I'm in a grouchy mood or something.
Most of the other matchups would be just as hard. 5 Koreans who are Code S/A, or the former winner of both NASLs to date. DeMusliM and HuK are the other two, and Ret gets dibs on DeMusliM because he's the highest seed having done well enough to force a tiebreak for a playoff seeding in the first place. And it's not like DeMusliM hasn't been a beast in NASL so far having won his TvTs against Ryung (considered nearly a TvT specialist) and Sjow.

It is Stephano, so I wouldn't write that off Shame it's resceduled, I was really looking forward to that match. I think I'll be cheering TT1 on the most today, he's got a hell of a task ahead of him.
I like TT1 and I hate to root (lol) for someone else but I've been a puzzle fan since forever ago. Hoping he can take the win :D 3-1 puzzle
Also, I'd like to see sen win this but it's going to be hard, alicia played pretty well at MLG and i'm not sure if sen will be able to handle him. 3-1 alicia
I'm not sure who galaxy is, i haven't been watching much NASL but i think MC should be able to take him out. 3-0 mc.
Beastyqt can surprise sometimes, he's really underrated, but i'm still giving this to stephano. 3-2 stephano.
What exactly are they playing for here? I look on Liquipedia and it says Alicia and Stephano (and maybe more, didnt check) both are already qualified for the finals, why are they playing some kind of playoff?

Even with that it's still confusing. In fact, it makes it even MORE confusing. That statement implies that these games aren't part of the grand finals, which they most certainly are. This IS the NASL season 3 grand finals. The round of 16 is played online, and the round of 8 is played live in Toronto.

Yes, I did read whole OP including that and I didnt get it.
Considering they've always had Ro16 offline and 16 people in what they call the "final" before, I got confused at least. The term playoff was reserved for the people who finish 10th-30th in the league afaik. They play a "playoff" to determine slot 11-15 on the "final". So when I saw this being a "playoff" I wondered why they werent already qualified for the final.
But I get it now. This is actually Ro16 in the final and only Ro8 and the rest is offline.

Well it was confusing because on liquipedia it lists the top 16 as the "Main Bracket". But it turns out the top 16 is different from the top 8, so that's what makes it weird.

I know what you mean. I can watch them its just not the same. Though no disrespect to either of them, they are both great casters! They just don't have that awesome chemistry with each other yet!
So this is the actual round of 16 today, and the loser won't be going to the offline finals?
I don't think many viewers know the importance of these matches, I've been watching pretty regularly and didn't know until I read the thread and looked it up.
Is there any advantage for finishing first in your division compared to getting into the wildcards bracket and going into the playoff bracket? if you can be knocked out in one bo5 after going 7-1 in the regular season to someone who finished in the middle of the group that seems like a silly system.

I think they definitely waited too long to announce the new format, idk when they decided it though.

I also had no idea what the OP was talking about. A lot is at stake. They should have titled this NASL 3 sweet 16 and this should be treated like a major event.
Now that I grasp the importance of these games, I'm guessing the NASL switched the format up to save the cost of flying all of these players out. I bought a season ticket mostly just to support the NASL because it's clear the people behind it put a lot of time and effort into it. I hope they're doing OK financially.

Yeah I suppose so, I was expecting ro16 to be played offline like previous NASL finals, this is quite shocking to me. After all the work these guys put in for the entire season to finish 7-1 or whatever they can end up not even going to the finals based on one series. I don't think the ro16 should be played online but if their budget doesn't allow it I guess that's how it has to be.
At least It's bo5 so the chance of an upset is pretty low.
Should be some sick games today, not sure whether I'm happy or sad beasty/stephano is tomorrow :D, i'm sad it's not today cause I wanted to see, happy i can cast it tomorrow though but sad again that we got 5 bo5's now tomorrow which might be to much without breaks :D and only 3 today , in any case it will be sick
Somehow Sens Macro does not seem to be on the same level as the top class zergs. I am pretty sure DRG and stephano would have a lot more units and drones by the time the 7 gate push came.

The push came at around the 9:45 mark, which is very fast. It's not that Sen's macro sucks, but that DRG and Stephano are able to delay the push with early zerglings.
I hate how every series starts with Daybreak. Would have been better to allow the people seeded into playoffs to get first choice. A benefit to having made the top 8 during the season.
Seeing how other Zergs crumble to Protoss two base and three base pushes just makes you appreciate Stephano all the better. Then again, he's been losing to one of these pushes these days too...

Personally I like Gretorp and Frodan. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions on casters. Anyways talking about the games now, that was such an easy defense for Puzzle. I really felt as though TT1 should have just backed off after the first two attempts up Puzzle's ramp.

Honestly I think they would almost be better off solo casting. My only problem with them is they seem kind of awkward with each other. Talking over each other a lot and cutting each other off etc. Maybe if they have one just observe and one just cast and rotate?
Either way have to give props to Gretorp his casting has improved 1000000000x since season one!
Puzzle going stargate a lot in pvp's lately. Has done it a number of times in the GSTL the past couple of weeks. I wonder if he'll get caught by somebody hard countering him, which would be what? Fast blink?
Well if there was any game to win for TT1 that would have been it. Was ahead for a big portion of the game, but Puzzle still just won. I don't see TT1 taking a game three now.

He won the open tournament thing, why they have an open tournament instead of just letting in 2 extra people from the pools I don't know.
Open tournament did give Puma his win in NASL 1, getting him onto EG and then winning NASL 2 so I guess it worked out though
He should have been mass producing queens around the time he started the Hive. With that many colossi it was apparent that all he would ever be able to do with them is counter which would leave him with no good way to actually deal with the Protoss deathball.
Economic harass is all well and good against Protoss but it is very easy to over commit to it and then die to the standing army. Mass queens in equal supply to those lings would have been awesome under those broodlords with infestor support.

The part of that game that really clinched it for galaxy was hiding his initial mutas for long enough that mc couldn't get enough pheonix out to help defend.
Though I really don't know how to deal with that many mutas if the Zerg just dodges the storms.
Incredible comeback from Galaxy, the pop was 50 to 70 at start with 25 drones vs 35 probes. Incredible really. This kinda games prove Starcraft II is a great RTS game.

Haha, man, you have absolutely no idea. His muta control sucked at a couple of points, but on the whole it was pretty phenomenal. He abused the fact that he sniped the stargate, cut off MC's speed counter option (phoenixes with range), and forced him to use a slow AoE counter (storms), and he completely abused that speed advantage on what is quite probably the best map in the pool for it.
MC did a great job (cept his building placement), but that was a bad situation for him from the very beginning, particularly because he declined to FFE. He delayed some larva and got a couple overlords with the early phoenixes, but he didn't do enough.
