Congratulations MaNa!
Darkness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood that flows. Buried in the flow of time. In the great name, i pledge myself to darkness!

He was 2-basing based on Dimaga's style, not based on the metagame. Its difficult to get into the late-game v.s Baneling drop play.

Okay, this is coming from a BW fan who do not enjoy SC2 games very much:

Dreamhack production value was freaking amazing, congratulations! AWESOME stream quality, AWESOME stage/crowd seats, AWESOME camera shots, and finally, AWESOME video at the end.

And what is best, all this quality is available for free. I sincerely hope Dreamhack grows ever stronger and that this quality event become SC2 scene norm.

Congratulations!

All dreamhacks after Stockholm invitational 2011 have been badass. Too bad they have a hard time attracting koreans

It was two basing against Stephano, too, I think.

And most of the other PvZ's I've seen in this event and in general. Though I admit I wasn't watching all of it, was playing Civ 4 for quite a bit today.

Just saiyan it's boring, not imba or anything. Not complaining about that.

I didn't see the Mana v.s Stephano series, can someone go over and recap what MaNa did both games? I would appreciate it.

I think the problem is that if Protoss goes 1 base it's cheese, goes for a two base timing it's boring and abusive, goes for a three base deathball it's boring except for 15 seconds, and lets it go to lategame then it's the boring "protoss trying to avoid the super-slow zerg army game"

Yeah, you have a good point there... just keep in mind that the toss also has some really cool abilities and strats that are in fact fun to watch. I would list:
- blink stalker micro
- warp prism micro / harass
- storm / feedback and storm drops with HT
- all kinds of hallucination play
- phoenix micro

So there you have it. Kick the boring stuff out and bring more fun stuff in and the game will become better from a spectator's perspective.

So, who said that koreans are boring ? "Foreigners" are so much fun... Let's 2base all-in 2 times in the semi-final and 3 times in the final and win the tournament. And that guy defeated Hero... Jesus.

Btw, he is happy with his playstyle...

Oh who I see... another Korean's cock sucker.

That seems pretty uncalled for. It's just as legitimate to prefer Korean players as it is to prefer EU players.

I hope dimaga continues with his mad baneling strategies and maybe refines his build a bit with the upgrade timings, and figures some backup plan for those archon stalker plays.

Amazing tournament with a great number of nail-biting matches. Mana vs Hero, Stephano vs Keen, Fraer vs Harstem, Dimaga vs naniwa & nerchio vs bratok all memorable and intense. What a run for mana, going through hero and stephano to get to the final and then taking home it home on his second try. Oh, and nice to see the effort of the hard-working players in Europe translate into big results against quarter- and semi-finalists from the GSL. Don't come to Europe for easy money, you better bring it!

I think this community is full of hypocrites. When MVP analyzes his opponent in GSL and plays to counter him (involving bunker rushes and other kinds of cheese) everyone is like "Oh, so smart, so gosu..." When Mana does the same in DH (he specifically prepared builds against both, Stephano and Dimaga, everyone is like "boring, two base all in scrub" etc... Its just not fair to the players imo.

There are two ways how to win tournaments - either you are so good that you brute force your way through your opponents just with your playstyle (but only DRG, MKP and very few others can do this) or you play like Mana did - you prepare and you play to your opponents weakness (Nestea, MMA and MVP are all doing that)... I think he deserves respect.

btw, problem with protoss imo is, that they have the potential to create the most epic and best games of all races (Ace vs B4 in up and downs comes to mind, or Hero vs Idra in DH Valencia for example) and everyone is dissapointed that not every game is like that...
