Guess there's a good chance of a Korean vs Foriegner final tho... unless Stephano takes out Keen and whichever Liquidian advances. On the plus side, the odds are pretty good of a swede in the finals.

Groupstage is more fair, but these tiebreakers happen. Where are the single elimination tournies bo3? You should be more specific brah. Harstem loses to Qxc, Bly, and Mana and gets to ro16. Huk loses to Stephano and is out. I'd like to think that isn't fair.

In that format it can never happen that player only loses once and is eliminated... Because GSL is not a 3 day 128 player tournament. There is a reason GSL seasons take 2 months, not three days.

The difference between 2-1 and 2-0 is so negligible except in a situation like this where it's your tournament life on the line. SC2 gameplay is too high in variance for this to be acceptable. What is wrong with fanboys these days? Jesus. Wtf else do you want? "Sc2 gameplay is too high variance" rofl, so DH has to solve this alleged problem how? Make everyone play a best of 99 to make sure the "variance" is minimized? Make them play a playoff at 1am in the morning, changing the rules everyone else lived with, cause you think its unfair your favorite is out? It's a weekend tournament, everyone plays by the same rules, just cause your favorite losses suddenly you whiners call it not fair.

Do you go for two standard games or do you cheese? If you're up 1-0 in your BO3 you can do a risky build to try to close it out easily. In the dreamhack system you HAVE to try to 2-0 every match, 2-1 is (as we see right here) not an option. So people will do the build they feel most comfortable with. Remember Nestea's spine crawler rush that worked in GSL a few months ago? Or the failed one he tried earlier this week? Neither of those would EVER happen in this tournament because it's just not worth the risk of being eliminated. You don't have to 2-0 every match. There is no way you don't go through if you win 2-1 every game. And I don't really get why you think it would be a good thing to have a format that encourages cheesing/gambling/risky stuff.

What do you want Dreamhack to do, intervene and set up the bracket based upon what they think will be better, and ignore the group stage? If they didn't want to be on the "stacked" side of the bracket, they should have won their group.

Every matchup is not always played in GSL, it is like a ro4 bracket with dual elim, not a group.
