Well, a Naniwa/SaSe vs Stephano/Nerchio seems pretty likely to me.

If Sase remains consistent around his MLG performance I expect a Sase vs. Taeja/Stephano finals Massively fucked up upper half bracket hahah.

Terrible situation for Huk.

You go 8-1 in your matches, only losing to Stephano, and you get eliminated. Dumb.

Seems like no one is getting his point, he's just saying that considering his tournament record this is dumb. He is criticizing the format, he can do simple math just as well as others do.

I don't see it as bad format that 5-2 (2-1) and 5-3 (2-1) beats out 4-4 (2-1) in a group stage.
If you're not getting better faster than everybody else, you're getting worse.

I still don't understand why aren't all the tournaments with group stages using GSL format groups, rather than round robin. In that format it can never happen that player only loses once and is eliminated...

Those brackets are horrible for Stephano Keen is great vZ and Nerchio is a ZvZ specialist.

Also not that great for Liquid fans - Taeja and HerO will face each other in the Ro16 and one is going to go out.

Naniwa and SaSe are on the same side of the bracket and are not able to make the grand finals together.

It's a great system. It always sucks to lose.

It's not a great system it takes a lot of strategy out of each series.

In a GSL group, due to winner's and loser's matches, you can play way more mind games. Do you go for two standard games or do you cheese? If you're up 1-0 in your BO3 you can do a risky build to try to close it out easily.

In the dreamhack system you HAVE to try to 2-0 every match, 2-1 is (as we see right here) not an option. So people will do the build they feel most comfortable with. Remember Nestea's spine crawler rush that worked in GSL a few months ago? Or the failed one he tried earlier this week? Neither of those would EVER happen in this tournament because it's just not worth the risk of being eliminated.

You're making zero sense

My God. All the EG hate, relax nerds, lol.

I wonder if HerO will be able to continue his dominating performance (18-0 currently), he does have to face TaeJa next round which will be a real test and unfortunate team kill. Other than that the Play-Off bracket is looking very interesting. Keen vs Stephano, NaNiwa vs sLivko, ret vs SaSe, Nerchio vs BratOK. I think Ret probably in the best position to take the bottom half the bracket, and HerO/TaeJa could potentially take the top half. The potential story lines are amazing: potential HerO repeat, potential HerO undefeated run, potential Liquid Final, etc.

It has pluses and minuses. The obvious advantage is players have to do play their best, so it's perhaps a win-win scenario for spectators.

It's not Dreamhack's fault that Taeja couldn't win his group.

Yeah but it's Hero's fault for going 3-0. Hero would have had an easier bracket if he hadn't dominated as much.

Well, they kind of have stupid policy. Only buying players isn't enough. Don't get me wrong, but they need to focus on improving instead of buying as much as they can.

Holy hell. HuK got knocked out after going 8-1 in matches the whole tournament yet this talk is brought up after he loses. It is bad luck of this type of system. It is kind of sad to see that some of the players have advanced with worse match scores.

Yeah I love how Huk does better than Thorzain and yet nobody is shitting on him. Inconsistent haters are the worst.

What a silly thing to say.

Huk haters are most certainly consistent in hating huk : )

I was more referencing the EG hate all that "they only buy players and dont train them" crap.

That bracket... not a single person other than Naniwa, Sase, or Ret is going to interest me if they make it to the finals. The other individuals are all good obviously to have made it this far in the tournament, but none of them stand out as Dreamhack finalist.

Terrible bracket for Stephano => Keen, Nerchio, Hero/Taeja
Lower bracket will probably have Naniwa or Sase. Nice for the Swedes though.
