I honestly don`t get it. ZXZ is probably the most intense matchup of the whole game. Early game is based on pure micro. The best one with the best micro wins, simply as that. It`s not based on luck (some say it is, but in fact it is not if you scout properly) but on your own skills. I love ling / baneling fights, the decision making of each player to see how they can maximize the damage and stuff like that.
Mid game you need to find the balance between units and drones, really awesome again to see the decision making. What about mid-late game? Infestors play is AWESOME, and it`s even better when there are INFESTORS DROP or INFESTORS BURROWED, if you guys haven`t see that, give it a shot, It`s awesome and I hope we can see some infestor heavily playstyle! I'm curious if you're saying that as a zerg player or not, because in all of my ZvZ experience its pretty much exclusively luck based. the opening builds are luck based. everything after that shouldn't be.

I'm surprised people think the tournament would happen if it was free. These EXTRA events exist because they are PPV and are extremely expensive to run. Exactly. People watching restreams are killing esports. And not joking. If you're not supporting via ads or ppv buys, you are dead weight. oh so there is a difference if i don't watch at all or watch a restream? you can maybe say that about restreamers. But i guess most of people that watch restream wouldn't have paid after all and are watching it only because there is a restream , i doubt they are "killing esports" Piracy doesn't kill esports. Just like it doesn't kill the sales of video games. The people who pirate wouldn't have paid anyway, they would have just went without. And that's the issue. The people who wouldn't have paid anyway, obviously don't find it worth their money. In that case they shouldn't get it. If they grew up and learned to make value choices like mature adults, we'd all be better off. Product providers would have to be more responsible if we were all informed mature consumers. (Because the opposite of the pirate is the blind consumer, who also hurts the market) not true if there was no piracy I would never buy broodwar of sc2 - never.. those games, football manager and PES series are only games I have ever bought.. if there was no piracy I would never know for so many tv shows.. piracy is killing e-sport? broodwar is still alive and all of the streams (and vods) were FREE ALL THE TIME and I just want to know does MLG pays to TLnet for free commercial? I mean, we have a link for a stream that costs 20$.
Paying for free commercial? Come on, proofread or something..and yes, if an event is PPV and it is being advertised in the stream bar it means they have payed a certain sum of money.

Since many Zergs follow the Stephano roach max in the early-mid game, and late-game is usually only lost if the Zerg doesn't split their Brood Lords, I am not surprised. I always thought Zerg would start to excel in the match-up once they learned to spread their Brood Lords.
This tournament looks just like my PvZ.
As people have pointed out though that may be because a lot of the top tier Protosses are missing. There's no PartinG, Squirtle, or NaNiwA. Oz got eliminated really quickly because of PvP of all things. Meanwhile, the top Zergs are all over this tournament. Stephano, DRG, Symbol, Violet, and Leenock (even though his ZvP is pretty bad).

Roaches are the most cost effective unit in the game. you can get so many out in very little time. As much as terran hates toss late game, toss hates zergs period. at least a terran can win mid game, toss can't win early, mid, or late game vs zerg.
Please stop with the balance whine......I'm starting to drown in the salty tears. Please go to the battle.net forums for that.

Funny how roach from useless unit became most cost effective lol

Even killing 20 probes at the 12 min mark... They just laugh at that. It takes them 1 inject to fix their eco.
Haven't won a PvZ that has gone past 18 min mark in 4 months. As a terran player I love seeing this type of reply from toss players. Welcome to the club bro GSL... I rest my case.
Can we not start this? It's retarded.

Stephano trying to help his headache with epic sunglasses.

No more Terran in the tournament... Boriiiiiiiiiiiiing

Anyone paying 20 dollar for this, is indirectly hurting e-sports. could you please explain that "logic"

Exactly, its like to help but not get milked. 20$ is way too expensive for what i get in return. (IMHO)

You can scout properly now with the overlord speed and even before it was just fine.. I mean, if you`re 15 hatch and he`s going 10 pool, sure, you may be behind, but its not like its IMPOSSIBLE to beat that, I`ve seen players like TSL Ryun dominating a guy who went 10 pool.. And Ryun went 15 hatch 17 pool..

my words out of your mouth. and the 28,9% winiing of the protoss is just the immortal all in or a sloppy zerg.

Oh the horror. I knew there would be a day when Zergs would realize that if they dropped their max Roach army beyond our wall/cliffs protecting our base that we'd be dead... and now it has happened.

seems many low league players post in LR threads.

Stephano has this tournament. If it was a straight up Stephano vs Symbol, then I would give the edge to Symbol, but the fact is that Stephano is the one in the winner's bracket and I don't see Violet beating him. That means Symbol would have to beat Stephano twice in the final and I've never seen someone coming up from the loser's bracket pulling off an upset against the double elimination format of MLG.

The Arena's are an essential part of the MLG circuit, as they determine the seedings of the championship. They are by no means "EXTRA". Please do not try to put it onto the same level as the Arena of Legends, which was only there to please the fans, without great price pool and also - due to being invite only - without much legitimacy of competitiveness. The seedings for the championship is the ONLY reason you have to justify that and while I don't agree with the fact that it provides seeding and have said so in the past, that does not mean the events are not extra. They certainly are, they would not happen otherwise, it's too expensive to fly 32 players over with full room and board, especially since many of them are Korean,. which is why no other free-view tournament actually does that. MLG also saves a decent amount by not making it a full-on event and keeping it at their HQ. No venue, less staff, less setup, less equipment, no travel expenses for their staff (aside from you fine gentlemen), etc... etc...
