hard to realize that Polt vs Jjakji is actually a duel between former GSL champions!
|
That desicion to rush into the main was questionable to say the least :D Hope Select can somehow claw his way back in the series.
|
Creator 3-0 and Jjakji 3-1
|
Surprisingly weak play by Creator there.

if the person who wins this is being sent with GSTL, does the prize go to 2nd place? (or whoever isn't in the GSTL Teams) , for example if creator wins, as most likely prime will make the finals
edit - oh god creator , so good just outclassed him

Is Select still considered a pro player? Creator isn't even doing anything too amazing and he utterly demolishing Select.

That's creator for you. He's a massive boss, so long as he doesn't get cheesed (should ask MKP for practice on holding off Terran cheese haha)
|
I liked creator's observers and his defense of drops and the like, but honestly, Select's macro was just an embarrassment. Expecting the next series to be more competitive.

Creator has some of the best PvT in the world alongside Parting, MC and Genius.

Jjakji really loves his repair-active, high on banshees 1-1-1 against, well, every race.

Banshees are so good though, more terrans should start using them in every matchup.

Meh I prefer macro terran. Harder to play but much more satisfying.
|
Identical victories by JJ almost. Banshees just tearing Polt apart.
|
Jjakji just abusing the fact that Polt wants to do bio openers.
A more defensive 1-1-1 would handle this ez.

Polt doesn't do all-ins in TvT. Jjakji never has to worry about a proxy marauder rush or a one-base marine/tank push.

Banshees and macro play aren't mutually exclusive. Of course, merely rushing cloaked banshees every game will only get you so far, but incorporating a few cloaked banshees (especially if playing mech) in a late game army can really enhance dps and harassment capabilities, and give the opponent just more things to worry about.

At least vs T you can always get marines/force turrets/keep them in their base.

Jjjakji really needs to pull back, he stalled for long enough, now its just getting risky.
|
Beautiful comeback by Polt.

Polt turned the tables nicely there on Jjjakji.

Augh, Jjakji with another all-in.
|
And Polt FE again haha... same old story.
|
What is up with jjakji in this set? so many all-ins.
|
Jjakji target fired the marines and blocked the scvs with his own marines to prevent them from attacking the tanks. Very well controlled.
Still, I wish I could have seen at least one macro game.
|
i don't know what is more frustrating... Polt's refusal to play safe or jjajki's refusal to play straight up

If your build sucks against 1 base terran which is like, some of the most common stuff in the world then it's a bad build and you shouldn't do it 4 games in a row. If you can't do FE builds then the meta needs to change. It'd be the dumbest thing I've ever heard if you both just agree to FE instead of using the better build. It's not even completely all-in because you get good tech, and the only way to counter it with is your own 1 base.

Jjakji is just a cold blood killer. I can't wait to see him against Thorzain.

IPL Tournament of Terrans.
Holy crap there's a ton of Terrans in this thing, talk about a buzz kill.
I play Terran by the way

Not the most inspiring play by Jjakji, but effective. Polt wanted to play macro games. Jjakji saw this, so he just all-inned and it worked. Should have been on Polt to adapt to Jjakji's willingness to all-in and not continue going CC first and having only a handful of marines for the first few minutes.

Yeah, as a player who always likes macro based play (as a Terran no less), this is really on Polt. 1 Barracks FE in a TvT is just such a completely unsafe build. He needs to be a bit more adaptive and understand his opponents tendencies and the current metagame.
1 Rax FE or die trying = much more dying.
He should at least Reaper expand. At least that way you can catch somebody going really fast Banshee/Tank tech with only a couple marines and do a ton of damage. You also get a crap-load of scouting information.

Sorry, i didnt mean it that way, i was just expressing the fact that i was suprised of his play today, he is usually such a macro oriented player.

Yeah, Kas also fell to Jjakji because he played too macro heavy (amongst other things, but the openings strongly reminded me of those games).

Jjakji has never been a macro-oriented player in TvT.

Mr Chae is such a troll. It's awesome.

Sad to see Polt go down but jjakji's TvT (and all-around) has been looking incredibly slick this year.
