Please have some respect for the players, teams, and tournament.
Criticism is fine, criticism without anything to back it up isn't so cool.
Thanks!

Grubby vs SeleCT?

Ok, now I can go to sleep. No offence Grubby but all those losses must have teared on your self-confidence. I think that Select will take it easily.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but on the other hand if Grubby does win I will be so mad at myself for mssing out on it. XD

Gnight.

Really? Grubby is getting pretty good. He is getting smashed by Code S level players but Select is far away from that.

seleCT's TvP is fantastic, by far his best match up.

It's GSL calibre, maybe not Code S but definitely Code A worthy.

oh come on ... statements "Code A worthy" are just wrong ... you can never know unless you play there

Dude he has and he advanced in code A beating a Protoss player >.>

He also fell out of Code A losing to a protoss player.

Polt goes to Seoul University, a top 3 school in Korea. You generally need decent English to get into those schools.

Top 20 school worldwide if i remember correctly

http://www.usnews.com/education/worlds-best-universities-rankings/top-400-universities-in-the-world
US News has it at 42

These league tables aren't really so accurate because they often take into account research that has 0 impact on the actual students at the univeristy. My Mum teaches at a university above Seoul and I could have gone to one higher than Seoul too, even though I certainly wouldn't have got into Seoul if I lived in Korea (and spoke Korean). The competition among students in Korea is much more fierce than it is in the west, outside of the very top tier universities.

Ostojiy beat Puma. Who knows.

But Polt's TvZ I would put ahead of Puma.

agreed, looking for puma to improve there as well.

yeah, you could say he needs to refine his timings

puma is a player who's built around BOs.

LMAO you couldnt be more wrong. Puma has absolutely INCREDIBLE control

His game is centered around his build orders man especially TvP, but you keep telling yourself that.

EVERY Stracraft player has build orders, what the hell kind of point are you trying to make? Hitting timings, especially in TvP with the supremacy of deathballs + mass gateway warpin reinforcements mean it's a necessity in series play. Puma is known for his really good army control, sniping every templar, and seemingly spotting every single obs over his army.

How long did it take for Grubby to actually become top level in WC3? I wonder if it's still possible for him to be relevant in the top of SC2 with the Koreans dominating so badly.

Gotta please the masses.

I'm just trying to understand how this is enjoyable to listen to.

I'm generally pretty open with music.. but god, this is just becomes noise.

I felt the same way about it when I first heard it, I gave it a legitimate chance too since some of my friends were real into it.

Nothing. I've been able to appreciate almost every genre of music so far, dubstep is the first where I literally cannot stand listening to it. It's actually painful if it's too loud. Even bad rap and hip hop is preferable to it.

I've missed the first day and a half of this tourney and feel like I've missed nothing. Blah blah blah koreans blah blah HuK blah Naniwa blah blah. A little interesting to see some new faces in the upper bracket though but they're just gonna get crushed 2-0 in lopsided matches. MLG should really be an NA tourney imo, does everyone really want to see the same 8 korean players or so who are well funded crushing through a bunch of fodder? Championship sunday is seeming more and more like the only point to these things.

(okay sorry for being a cynic but I've had a bad day)

People want to see the best games. If you don't allow koreans your admitting foreigners suck and we get shitty games.

He does have a point about the well funded point. We will probably never see a Zenex player, and unlikely see a NSHoseo player at the National Championships because these teams are not as well funded, and thus will not send their players overseas unless it is an all-expense paid trip like Arena.

For example, Puma, JYP, Hero, Zenio, MC, aLive can go to many foreign tournaments because their teams take very good care of them, but what about players who are on poorer Korean teams?

Maybe I'm being idealistic, but I'd love players on smaller teams (foreigner and Korean) to get some more opportunities.

Yeah.

But it was a pretty sick game I'm not gonna lie. I stopped watching Halo a while ago (Reach is terrible) but well when you're down 49-45 and suddenly you kill the entire team to tie it at 49-49, the crowd goes insane. Hasn't been a game that good since early H3.

Well it was also the biggest team in Halo against a team people have been hyping to win this event putting on 5 close games so at the end the crowd was going to go nuts.

That too, Instinct has a ton of fans. But I think the crowd would've gone nuts regardless of it being Instinct or not.

Haven't watched Halo in a while (yeah Reach does suck) but that sounds insane. Especially been disconnected to it cause I haven't really paid attention since the H3 days. Still a big fan of pistola though (have been since before he broke out with TD in H3). Hope he does well. If Reach dies after this MLG season I hope they'll pick up Halo 4 anyway, from what I've heard from my friends in the scene 343 has done good things with Reach (allowing removal of bloom, etc.) so I think they could do an even better job with it than Bungie.

Yeah I've been pulled away from SC2 for a bit to watch the series so that says something. But if the Halo crowd keeps this up it'll start rivaling the SC2 crowd in intensity and it won't be dropped until 4 comes out.

I just hope H4 is like the originals, not Reach.

What changed in Halo: Reach? I don't know anything about it, but I find it hard to believe a console FPS game can change all that much.

Bloom, equipment, no BR, etc. Not to mention the maps Bungie made were pretty bad.

It just wasnt fun at all. It was boring, especially the maps.

What's Bloom?

In FPS games you have the target built in, well with bloom there is a circle that expands when you move or shoot, meaning your accuracy goes down. So if you shoot you have to wait for your circle to get small again to shoot or you'll miss.

Works in Shadowrun, but not Halo.

That's not bloom, that's a dynamic crosshair... and that's in every FPS game that's good, other than Quake.

Bloom is with the graphics, it created a little outer glow around models that softens the outside.

There are no good FPS games with dynamic crosshair.

Fuck... Probably less than 10% of people here on TL realizes the significance of getting into Seoul University.

Hat's off to Polt!

yeah, getting into Seoul University is pretty much like getting into Ivy league in America, or even more difficult. Korean students are probably the most hard working students in the world and the competition is incredibly high if you want to go to Seoul University. Polt is known for his intelligence in Korea as well.

The fact that Polt is at Seoul Uni and Nada manages to compete while going to school (he said he only pracitced 5 games / day) shows that Korean professionalism means FOCUSED training, not just MORE training.

Certainly foreigners are capable, if they put their heart into it. Stephano also said that he practiced no more than 2 hours per day, 1 hour watching rep.
Best or nothing.

That's why MLG should go with a sort of music that is generally more acceptable. Pretty much everyone like alternative and rock. Dubstep however, is annoying to some.
