This proves its an all in. If you don't plunk a 3rd down before dropping 7 gates, you will NEVER get a 3rd up since you went all out aggression for an early win instead of building up your economy. Actually vs Stephano style the consensus seems to be that you have to get 7 gates up just to have a chance to hold a third from the roach pressure, so, no, it doesn't always mean an all-in. There's no real consensus on how to hold vs the Stephano style. A lot of people are saying you have to take Whitera-esque thirds others are saying to just 2 base all-in against 3 hatch no gas builds.
OK fair enough, consensus was the wrong word, but using 7 gates defensively to hold a third definitely is one of the more promising strats that have been discussed.

Yes thats true, but ONLY if you plunk the 3rd down first before dropping 7 gates. The problem is protoss seems to think that they can attack first and expand later which is not how starcraft works. Expansion should always come first if you are not planning to all in. um no. Starcraft is a strategy game. Strategy is not exclusive to starcraft. Just because you attack and are aggressive does not mean "all in" You probably didn't even play bw.
