I'd say no one is close to Leenock's MLG run. He came from the open bracket too in flawless form. Only series he dropped was versus DRG but won later on in an extended series.
Open Bracket: 12-0
Moves to Championship Winners: Leenock vs HayprO - ZvZ - 2:0 Leenock vs DRG - ZvZ - 0:2
Drops to Championship Losers: Leenock vs BoxeR - ZvT - 2:0 Leenock vs Slush - ZvZ - 2:0 Leenock vs MMA - ZvT - 2:1 Leenock vs Idra - ZvZ - 2:0 Leenock vs HuK - ZvP - 2:0 Leenock vs MvP - ZvT - 2:0 Leenock vs DRG - ZvZ - 4:3
Grand Finals: Leenock vs Naniwa - ZvP - 4:1

But it always makes me sad if somebody plays a good groupstage, only to be kicked out of the tourney, due to a map difference of 1.
They can't have played that good if its close enough for map score to matter.

I also think that using map score before head to head is crap. I mean they have same win/lose, but Socke won against JYP... still JYP advances. When you say it like that, it is way more stupid then looking at useless mapscore. And every sports using "sets", takes head to head before sets.

It was also before NaNi went to korea. Going 24-2 during a tournament is fucking insane, no matter if the opponents were korean or not.

Also it was PvP vs JYP, it´s a god awful matchup and probably the most unforgiving out of all the matchups. MMA is one of the best, JYP was slaughtered and that had nothing to do with the matchup, and the games against violet were not really onesided, so i guess we can agree to disagree, socke is still awesome anyways!
The first game vs Violet was very one sided. Socke was behind all game and just got futher behind.
Game 2 Socke goes for a two base all in, Violet holds and then wins the game.

Woah I didn't realize how dominant he was...
can't believe he 2:0'd the banjo.

I feel MMA would had won versus Gumiho if he wasn't so sick back then, GSL ro8 if I'm not mistaken.

Socke just is out because he lost a map vs killer and strelok who are out... So head to head would have given us socke in the next round....(I was wrong before). That's great but IEM doesn't use head to head. They use map score. Which all players knew before the tournament. You can still say it's bad. IEM does use head-to-head for all other competition. Just SC2 has the map score thing. I don't see why one is less fair than the other, they're both pretty much the same. No, they are not. If I beat you I am better than you. It shouldn't matter if you lose a map vs players who are already out or are worse.

Naniwa didn't have a dominant run at any other events because he lost. Where as MMA went 10-0 all in very one sided stomps.
MMA is dominant until he loses. Just like Naniwa was this MLG. Naniwa as far as I am concerned actually beat a lot more better players than the ones on this group. Just saying.
And Stephano at ASUS was also dominant. And what was his streak vs protoss? 29-0 or smth.

It was a tree way tie... Socke won vs JYP, JYP won vs Violet and Violet won vs Socke...

Champions league is using the head to head scores in the groupstage.. but still u r right map score is way more complicated and kind a i think..

I don't ignore it. think a little.
head to head is tied 1-1 each. head to head mapscore would follow
head to head mapscore is:
JYP 2-3 Socke 2-2 and Violet 3-2. That would give us Violet and Socke advancing. How is that bias???
Head to head is used in plenty of group matches including CL and World Cup. It's not unfair. I know they choose a different system here...I just want to point out that socke would have advance in a different system.

You cannot use head to head in this case as it is a three-way tie using head to head where JYP > Violet > Socke > JYP and thus some other way is needed to break the tie (and frankly, map score has been used in SC2 competitions quite a few timesso this is no surprise to use it either)
