That's great but IEM doesn't use head to head. They use map score. Which all players knew before the tournament.

As much as I like Socke because he is an awesome guy and player... just no. Not what we have seen from him today unfortunately. The game vs MMA and now questionable decision making vs Violet. Also it was PvP vs JYP, it´s a god awful matchup and probably the most unforgiving out of all the matchups.

It means that statistically you are male and without any evidence it is reasonable to assume someone on TL is male. You will be right 1999/2000 times.

Lol..do you have any idea how many people would be confused and complaining if they looked at the group scores and saw 6-6 advancing over 6-5? It doesn't make sense regardless of head to head score.

But it always makes me sad if somebody plays a good groupstage, only to be kicked out of the tourney, due to a map difference of 1.
edit: the only other way they could have done it, was by direct comparison, but this often forces deciding matches and this can lengthen the groupstage to an unplanable extend. so again, it`s fine how IEM handles these situations.

How did you come to this conclusion? He won a PvP and lost 2-0 to MMA/Violet.

So because he beat one Korean in a PvP 2-0, and got 2-0'ed by the other 2, he's had a great tournament and shown he can "easily" compete? OK... that makes a lot of sense...

I assume he meant Dallas. Naniwa didn't have a dominant run at any other events because he lost. Where as MMA went 10-0 all in very one sided stomps.

While I'm heartbroken that Socke is out, I think head to head over mapscore is not as fair of a solution. You have groupplay so the all around best players advance and that's achieved best by mapscore as a decider.

I think that removing the Thor is also a mistake. I don't like units which can completely turn everything around in one click. This isn't Warcraft 4 it's Starcraft 2, I don't like hero style units. But obviously Protoss needs something to deal with BL/Infestor in the absence of a mothership.
There are various all-ins and timing attacks, which prevent Zerg from getting there. Nothing else you can do, sadly ^^ Once u face 200/200 BL/Infestor/Corrupter you either vortex or you die.

Either that or give Protoss a unit that can actually handle the problems of Broodlord/Infestor armies. Carriers are shit at the moment so there's no helping that and Phoenixes don't even do jackshit against corrupters, let alone mutalisks.
I'm curious as to what they're going to do.

I don't see why one is less fair than the other, they're both pretty much the same. And if you used head to head we'd have a tie anyway because JYP beat Violet, so you would need a playoff.

MMA is one of the best, JYP was slaughtered and that had nothing to do with the matchup, and the games against violet were not really onesided, so i guess we can agree to disagree, socke is still awesome anyways!

Of course, but dominance in a tournament must be measured based on the players present at that specific tournament. It can not be measured based on hypotetical terms.
