It still is the case in several maps, people are quick to forget.

aLive is kinda predictable going 1rax FE 3 game in a row. Terran mindgame are so good during series.

I'm sure there are loads of others, as I don't watch BW in detail, but for one, that was a complete change from what used to be standard.

I find that very surprising when things were/are being discovered in BW many years after the game was thought to be figured out. Different times we didnt have progamers or a huge competititve scene back then. people are still figuring out new and powerful timings. as of now, terran's favor unit production over upgrades in the early game tvp. why don't more players rush upgrades prior to medivacs? why do players always drop 3 barracks after expo even if they know they won't be moving out anytime soon or need the units to defend a timing? why not just get 2 rax and an ebay for super fast upgrades? sure there's the fear of dying to like a 6 gate or something but that's what scouting is for, no?
on top of that, players are learning new tricks and new ways to control their armies every day. alive's control in game 1 was stellar in the early game but got very deathball-ish towards the mid game. genius was also moving very one-dimensionally for most of the game, however his army was better suited for bashing head to head, which lead to his overwhelming victory in the late game.

More like Genius just executed that incredibly well. Some Terran whining here would have you think that any Master-league Toss can beat a Terran as good as Alive with the 3gate VR all-in.

Hmm really quick factory, is he gonna go quick banshees?

Micro as T to stay alive.
(btw, these aren't Terran tears. I'm a Protoss player.) staying alive in that situation is winning. If you hold a 1 base build on 2 base you win. No exceptions. What about the first game. Alive had multiple amazing micro moments, then Genius hits two storms and wins.

The difference is that almost all core units are mathematically viable in BW.
The math just doesn't hold in SC2.

That doesn't change the fact that Genius played that really well. I don't know why aLive didn't either hole up in his main or build a second low ground bunker.
I know the feeling, "I got this high ground bunker, HA take that all-iner," and then you just get out-maneuvered because you didn't take extreme precautions as you fear your enemy is double expanding or that your own cleverness will stump him.
There's times you just have to understand the game situation and make more logical and safe moves, especially when you're already way ahead assuming a solid defense. Even if Genius pulled back in some perfect retreat, making good trades but aLive defending without taking crippling losses, aLive's ahead by virtue of expansion. You've never been on the receiving end of marine dps I take it.
I've rarely been on the receiving end of replies to the full content of my posts.
