Who Are We?
Frag For Charity, previously known as Frag For Cancer, is a gaming initiative that runs events to raise funds and awareness for charities. We are all passionate volunteers who enjoy gaming with a goal of directing 100% of the money raised to cancer charities. The only way an event like this can come together is through the collective effort of enthusiastic volunteers, generous sponsors and wonderful participants. It all started with a gamer who lost his father to cancer and vowed to raise awareness and funds while encouraging philanthropy. In 5 years, we’ve held multiple gaming LANs and tournaments raising over $35,000 for various cancer charities.
Tournament is only open to Canadian registrants only. Anyone that is found to be from outside of Canada will be removed from the players list. Additionally, if you win a prize from the tournament and your shipping address is not in Canada, you will not be eligible to receive it.
Featuring Penguin, Destiny, Jarett Cale, Apollo, LAGTV, Frodan, Kibbelz, RAP1D, and ThePhrank February 4th - Jarett Cale and Destiny February 11th - Jarett Cale and LAGTV February 18th - LAGTV, followed by Jarett Cale and dApollo

The top 4 players from this tournament will also move on to play in the Playoff bracket on the 18th. If you lose in this tournament, you may still register in the second one.

http://www.facebook.com/FragForCancer Here is their facebook for anyone wanting to take a look at the organization. I think it's a great job that they are supporting such a big tournament and their previous tournaments for other games!
How are people supposed to publicize this if they can't have any warning. (also, not announcing it early doesn't allow local organizers to avoid conflicts.)
Love what you guys are doing, but cmon more planning please.

Sorry about that, we were set back from quite a number of things so we were only able to announce it Monday =( Registration is looking great so far though so hopefully things turn out alright! There's always the Saturday after

LAN event in the fall though, right?
It's still a good experience to be part of a tournament, it really motivates you to be competitive. It's fun, even if you're gold league.
I have to agree. There are bronze and silver league players registered as well. In the qualifiers, it's more about having fun and potentially getting matched with your favourite canadian pros Besides, more people is more awareness for the event, which can hopefully transform into increased support.

Supporting a good cause too.
Thanks FFC for putting this together!
Yessss the main goal of this is to raise awareness for the event and charities we're supporting so the more people the better! Doesn't matter what league you're in =D
gl hf to all the Canadians playing! Represent the nation well haha Sadly I cannot participate because I have a LAN to attend but I hope we see some great Canadian talent arise from this tournament!

Thanks for the support TB! Hopefully we can work together for the next one =)
You should still be able to register, but the registration is done through the Bell Alliant page. The tournament will be administrated through Z33k, but you'll be added automatically once you register.

Just a note, I'm seeing a lot of people sign up again, or more than once in general. You will NOT get an invite code or an email or anything. We're adding everyone ourselves tonight. All you need to do is fill out the form once and you're all registered.
People are probably signing up twice just in case they assumed it didn't go through. As it starts early in the morning and if you screwed up you can't play.
Fair enough. I can see the reason why people are doing it, just stating that its unnecessary. Perhaps we'll take that into account for the next FFC tournament, and see if we can get a conformation email or something. This is only our second attempt at an online tourny. Always learning!
Ya, exactly a simple confirmation email would be perfect just to know that your registration actually went through without having to worry about screwing it up. (aka what I thought at first for myself!)
Some people may be seeing a bunch of names on the Z33k page, but not theirs. You don't need to register again, we just had an issue with the bulk adder and only some names got uploaded. You'll be there eventually don't worry! :D
So stoked. Just signed myself up. So how does it work with multiple days? I'm probably not gonna have too much time tomorrow but will be totally free for the qualifier the following week.
Tomorrow is the first qualifier, 256 person tourny. Top 4 go on to the playoff bracket. There will also be another qualifier, the same as this one, next saturday. Top 4 from that also go to playoff bracket. So, 8 from the two qualifiers, and 8 people (pros) we have selected an invited. That makes a 16 person tournament for the finals, and all the cool prizes on the 18th!
Hey all, I have 3 people who registered that I don't have full information for, and thus CAN'T enter into the tournament unless they contact me.
Xenilk tbag ryanlhjess
If you are one of those three people, please message Nextbreed (in the channel FFC) in game as soon as you can please, or you may not be able to be entered in the tournament. I tried emailing those three as well, but I never got a response, so maybe check the email you registered with as well.
Unfortunately, Registration for today is closed, but you are still free to participate in next saturdays qualifier, which will be the same format as this one! Just watch here/team liquid for more info!
Is the tournament page on z33k. After the 30 minute check-in period, brackets will go up and we will be under way! Make sure to hang out in the FFC channel in game, and feel free to ask questions of the admins. Nextbreed, Ryusage, Sharpie, Backslashzro and SallyDesu!
I'm honestly getting excited. Gunna get together with a few friends and have a mini viewing party. It's always waaaay too long in between when Jarett does stuff like this.

I guess you just have to weigh your dislike for Bell against the fact that it's a good cause, and Bell is supporting it. Think of it not so much as a tacit approval of Bell and instead it's throwing you support behind a good charity.
nice BM by Rift. Guess buddy doesn't get the point of the whole thing. So much bad manner in these games, very disappointing; should not allow Rift and Raine to participate in next qualifier or something as punishment.
It was featured on TL, the only part that wasn't featured was the highlight reel and ostijoy/stalife showmatch. The entire qualifier itself though was featured.
It was definitely a great first day. It was so cool of Jarett and Destiny to stick around for so long afterwards. Props to Sheth and Ostojiy for jumping in for 4s as well.
