Orb has the best analysis out of all of the casters I have heard. While these weeklies might not have the biggest names going head to head, I love watching these when I should be doing work. The games are played by high caliber Koreans, even if many of them are unknown, and I feel like Orb is using his mic to do more than spew hype.

<3 Orb keep up the good work :D

I've been to Japan as well, and I'm pretty sure the Koreans are crazier about technology than they are.

people look down upon videogames in korea and most of east asia. don't be delusional.

Yeah. Almost all the korean exchange students I've talked to like soccer and think starcraft is boring / for nerds.

I lived in Korea as a teacher for a year, so I got to see lots and lots of middle school boys. They play regular sports as much as westerners, and probably video games a bit more, but it's certainly much more socially acceptable. Big groups of kids leave school and head to the PC bang to play the newest games, and they're very competitive and excited about that stuff. In Canada tons of people play video games too, but I don't think they're nearly as open about it as they are in Korea. Consequently, we produce very few top-tier gamers... though we do seem to produce far more, per capita, than the states.

The 30 minute limit was obviously an emergency measure due to the massive, massive, massive amount of terrible trolling and hate in the chat during the idra games. Normally ESV.tv chat is somewhat reasonable.

Somewhat, but when chat is restricted so severely it encourages trolling just as much as when it is relatively unlimited.

You see, the problem was someone linked /v/ to the game, combine that with the fact that it's IdrA and stream chat wasn't going to survive no matter what.

I think it's generational as well in Korea. I'm from Canada and I think gaming is quickly gaining wide acceptance here. But that is completely anecdotal.

In Korean when letters are doubled it changes the sound. So the "s" sound is a bit more like "sh" in english, but when it's "ss" it's pronounced as a hard hiss, like in Ssangyong.

Jjakjji is just transcribed directly in english with emphasis on the J sounds. "Jackji."

The double j sound is actually quite different from the English j sound. You have to stick your tongue toward the roof of your mouth.
