So you would try and meta game a player instead of winning a supposed favored map for you? It's double the risk.

I know. But he shouldn't have, he went pure roach and was super near to beating MC's timing, despite falling really far behind. IMO of course, I can't pretend that this is fact.
He never fell really behind MUCH because he did some damage and droned rather than continue with the all-in. He could've won if he stopped all-inning one batch of lings sooner.
