pro players in HoN will often have around 150-200apm for controlling just their one unit for example. it is partly because everything that spawns in the game especially your own hero, provides gold once killed (you can choose to 'deny' the gaining of that gold by heroes of another team by attacking and killing your allied units/teammates)
HoN or DotA is especially unforgiving when you are a new player, even if you are just playing against other new players. the amount of knowledge and general control you need will catch up to you by the beginning minutes of the game. i have played all of these games for a reasonable amount of time and with pre-made teams and i actually find it potentially more frustrating than most games of starcraft.
what i mean to say is, don't look down on a genre or game because it looks silly or easy unless you want to appear simple or silly yourself.. simple as that. Well, the issue is that you'll have top tier DotA teams saying that being a pro DotA player isn't really that stressful or difficult and that they have a lot of time to do outside activities compared to other pros in different games. >.< It was in some interview with a top Chinese team. I'm 90% sure it was someone on CCM (before they were acquired) or iG who said this. I think the barrier is teamwork for the non-chinese teams. There's team changes and mixing up a lot from what I've seen. Team-changing isn't really uncommon in Chinese DotA teams either, from what I can tell; I feel like there's a team change every week ... there's a reason why people were really upset when LGD disbanded and got eaten up by iG, since it was known as the team that always stuck together. =X
I would get more into the DotA scene, but I can't stand watching the games, tbh. Watching it be played out from FPOV is fine, but the caster overview makes it hard for me to stay interested for some reason.

As a player of both DotA and HoN I would say HoN is harder by far. DotA is slow as fuck in comparison so it's much easier to react. yeah dota is just more uncomfortable to play so people presume it's harder and maybe because the progamers are considered higher skill than the hon ones, but i think gameplaywise hon is harder (not by a lot though)
--- i have missed all of the finals so far and will stay up basically the hole night to catch some, hope for good games

okay hellbourne can basically give up now.
edit: and yeah i'm also not gonna watch sc2, the time sucks too much. but can't help it, i feel for those americans that have a hard time watching the GSL. although in some way i prefer such events to the GSL, as they are pretty special while GSL is so often.

Indeed, but hon teams usually have very odd concede timing :D They probably need to die once more before they really give up.

Maybe if he does something incredible stupid, but i do not see that happening. That's the impression I was getting from about the 8 minute mark. I'm not a HoN expert at all, but is there any feasible way for MSI to come back? This seems to be one of the most frustrating things about this gametype... even with an insurmountable lead the winning team can't close out the win for a long long time.
The problem is people refusing to GG. Imagine if every Starcraft player refused to GG until their last CC got destroyed even though they had no probes. It's the same thing in DoTa/HoN

putting in some kind of game ending rule is hard though, as comebacks can happen when you don't expect them.
