Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly:
- NO Balance Whine.
- NO Player Bashing.
- NO Caster Bashing.
- NO BM whatsoever.
Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment. |
A funny aspect of the MLG format:
1. MVP is now moving through the losers bracket until the end of the tournament, and will always suffer from the assumption that he already lost a match, and thus losing just another one is enough for his elimination.
2. On the other hand, in the extended series he actually defeated the guy who defeated him to losers bracket, so in their extended 1-on-1 match the victor is MVP, thus we could speculate that he wasn't defeated by anyone in the tournament and shouldn't suffer from the penalty of the losers bracket when/if facing someone in the finals.
 (i know, i know; it's just that the ideal principle behind the rule now just looks kinda silly)

GUYS, listen. MVP is a macro player, and he doesn't all-in. A lot of the Korean Terrans try NOT to do 1-1-1 or all-ins because I'm sure they don't like it, or agree that it is imbalanced, BUT when this much money is on the line. It doesn't matter, you do whatever you can that will win you the money. Take NASL as another example, this is all or nothing for 50G's.

The other games were good, but not as good as they could have been. MC isn't really making mistakes but the crisp execution and quick reactions that you see from him isn't there today

He definitely has fans, judging by this thread alone, but there's maybe a bunch of reasons why he isn't the most popular with the fans.
First of all, he is the best. He'll get huge respect for that, definitely, but people like underdogs. People also don't like to see the same person win everything.
Secondly, he doesn't show emotion. I actually quite like that, because it's very professional and it means he can keep calm and not play on tilt. However, that lack of emotion doesn't translate well to fans. Fans like when you can see how much a win / loss means to a player.
I think it's the same in any sport, really.
I do think MVP has a huge amount of respect though. I'm a Protoss fanboy but I'll openly admit MVP is a fantastic player. You don't get that good by just being lucky.

Sure. TL is heavily biased toward zerg and a tiny bit less for protoss.. but I think it also has to do with the fact that MPV's not girly-looking like MKP.

This is going to be tough for MVP (iirc ZvT is Leenock's best matchup) but I'm confident that he'll be able to win this next match, and then maybe win the whole thing

MVP almost always goes for a timing attack (see his series vs Oz, now that was brutal T_T) in TvP, or else an incredibly greedy fast 3 bases.
