I completely agree with this. The Better player won that series. I'm definitely interested in seeing how far he goes in other tournaments. ( I still want him to lose vs HuK ) XD

Yea it seemed like a poor choice even disregarding the fact that his opponent had blink stalkers lol.

Tell me that last match was lucked based, MC just played so bad last game, everything that could went wrong went
It is just build order If you tell me. PvP require less skill that mind game usually is the case, and the player can get away with better risk can usually win the game. A underdog will always has higher chance of winning PvP because they can take high risk. I think MC is weak in mentality and nerves despite him showing strong talk, which is crucial in PvP.

They destroy phoenix once the numbers are high enough due to mutas hitting multiple targets.
If I remember correctly, that isn't correct. Even with the bounce, equal number of phoenix counter mutalisks.
Going to go try it out in the editor, brb.
Just wanted to make sure I actually did follow up with my results.
All with a-moving both forces in a unit tester.
Small scale battles 10 phoenix vs 15 mutalisk 6 phoenix left. 10 phoenix vs 20 mutalisk 11-12 mutalisk left.
Average Scale Battles 20 phoenix vs 20 mutalisk 15-16 phoenix left. 20 phoenix vs 25 mutalisk 13 phoenix left. 20 phoenix vs 30 mutalisk 5 phoenix left.
Large Scale Battles 50 phoenix vs 60 mutalisk 23 phoenix left. 50 phoenix vs 75 mutalisk 18 mutas left. 50 phoenix vs 70 mutalisk 9 out of 10 times phoenix win with 7-12 phoenix left. One time Mutalisk came out on top with 6 left.
From what I've gathered from around 50 unit tests that if the gas used is equal the phoenix will always win. The closer that mutalisk get to the same mineral consumption the better chance they have to win engagements. With good to above average micro or a good spread of phoenix the more likely they will beat out bigger amounts of mutalisk.
I thought counters were supposed to be cheaper than the units they're supposed to counter. Equal gas of phoenix means you spent more in resources to counter it. :\
Anyway, so sad for MC. Guy can't even catch a break outside of Korea. T~T
hey guys i just tuned in. can anyone tell me how long the wait time is between games? i see that theyre already ~40mins behind schedule so is there relatively ;ittle downtime between games at this stage?
If only MC didn't lose his second warp prism with 2 immortals, that really hurt himself. Not sure why he over extended with that drop for a couple of pylons when he knew that his opponent had blink.

That's just silly. The only reason PvP had the reputation it had is because everyone's been playing it like MC played this series.
Now that that playstyle is shut down by a pretty standard (by normal standards) play, people are still saying "its PvP / coinflip / better player can lose" which is ridiculous.
Hahah, now that oGs.MC isn't sponsored by SK-gaming this event sk-gaming.com doesn't even report from IPL, quality site that one, really embracing esports.

Haha whine in a mirror matchup, I guess the sad zealot hates himself too.
PvP is terrible and probably always will be. It just sucks so much that the only realistic protoss hope in this tournament got knocked out in a pvp.
How is it terrible? Inori just showed that foolish rushing strats aren't that good anymore in PvP which is what made the matchup stupid. Now players can finally move into the midgame with relative safety, and actually try and develop new strategies and tactics. MC can't blame anyone but himself for being stuck in his old mindset of ATTACKATTACKATTTACCKKAKCASKSAK!

Phoenix's are great vs mutas... but there is no way in hell to match them 1:1.
You need 4-5 stargates to do that, and you then immidiatly die to any kind of roach or hydra or infestor switch
You don't need equal amounts to match them. With good enough micro and reaction time you can literally not get hit by mutas with phoenixes.
