You're going to just slander a map like that without providing any evidence that they're actually imbalanced?

I think the maps are fine but the pool is so big, and with all of them being so unfamiliar it's a lot to ask of the players. Maybe cut the pool in half or something

i dont see any other player learning 9 new maps. not when they are not in any other tournament That's fine, then a player who wants to be in the NASL will take the time to play a few games on them before the tournament. Some of these maps will be in Season 3 of NASL. If you aren't even sure which you will be.using why make them learn them. Test the maps before the tourney not use the tourney to beta test This tournament is partially to serve as a more official testing ground for these maps. But I'd like to also point out that several of them have won the "map of the month" award and are quite solid. this is not a good enough excuse. there's an incentive's for players in the season to play/practice on those. for us in the qualifier its plain out non sense

I think the discussion is moot because as of now everyone who signed up is automatically in the next round anyways :D

Not really? In fact you'll have an advantage over current NASL players if you qualify since you'll have already practiced on them

Fuck yes! Finally a bigger organisation decides to include the TPW maps, boostes my personal simpathy for NASL a lot !

Clearly not, so what's the problem?

I clearly would sign up to both of those if xeris wasn't crazy with the new maps and yea i would put my time and money on the line.
I know it's cool be a hipster and want new maps but if you add a fuck ton of new maps it's really hard for the competitors, if u add a few maps then it's less agressive/ alot better

You'll never know until you give them a chance.

So you're annoyed that the few tournaments that Xeris facilitates (of the hundreds that exist) don't cater to what you want.
I see it more as a fun tournament that allows those who failed to qualify (or didn't participate) for S2 another chance at making it in while also having great potential in its prizes, especially since you can qualify for S3 through this.

Desrow is being nasty about it. Voicing an opinion does not have to include bitterness. And while it is excellent to see good players go head to head on maps they've executed thousands of games on, it can be excellent to see them play on maps they have not figured out. It tests an entirely different skill: adaptability.
Are they able to learn the map pool quick enough? Or is their skill set solely based on rote memorization from a million games played on xel'naga caverns? Definitely not a bad thing. Definitely not a need for name-calling or toeing the line between being an asshole and a contrarian.

There's no point debating with people who are not competitors/play in these qualifiers. I hope other notable players rise and complain about this nonsense.
|
There is a point and a very valuable one. You lost normal people with the words crazy, disgusting and saying fuck repeatedly to an individual who is doing this community and esports a favor by hosting well-prized tournaments. I would let real competitors speak up as well if I couldn't avoid being a jerk in a thread.

Xeris, will all the same TPW maps be used in the "Semi-Open" Tourney?

Some of them definitely will be. Perhaps not all of them.

Not one desert/badlands/redsand map? Why are mapmakers so averse to anything that isn't blue/green/black? WHY? Starcraft is desert too!
|
YES!!! Thank you so very much NASL!
The new Map Pool will boost the Tournement for me I gonna watch it definetly, NASL improved so much in season 2 overall!

Just think of the maps as a way to give you a big advantage over the Koreans who probably won't have time to play on the maps very much. I wonder if NASL should drop the 10$ charge so they can get more people willing to give the maps a shot and get more data on them.
It would be so much easier to learn them quickly if blizzard let NASL (and other big tournaments) create a NASL map pool with matchmaking based on skill that you could play on instead of the blizzard map pool. Put a map pool selector under race on the front page and enough people should play on it that you could always find a match.

The buy in is in place so that only people who are serious about competing will do it. If that means we'll have a 16 player tournament for 8 qualifying spots, I'd rather have that than have 100 people sign up and only 30 actually show.
