I would say it is very risky to use a completely foreign (to most) map pool but these maps looks very developed and not to mention beautifully made. I hope to see more of this in the future

What's at stake?
The Top 8 from this tournament will advance to a 32 player tournament, called the "Semi-Open". The winner of this tournament will advance to the NASL Grand Finals, earning a minimum of $2,000 and have a shot at getting part of the $100,000 prize. The top 4 from that tournament will also qualify for NASL Season 3.

Personally, while I do like a lot of the TPW maps, I think quite a few of them just aren't up to tournament quality. Using the TPW maps is great, I'm just not sure that using all of them and only them is the best idea.

This is a bit scary I will admit. While i'm excited for our team's chance to present community maps to the pro scene, this open tournament will really set the foundation of how community maps are going to be used from then on, and if possible even more maps added to the pro scene. I really hope all goes well, and good luck to the players!

This is why only 3-4 of the best ones will be chosen at the end of the open tournament.

you guys wanna make this really hard for people eh? The massive bracket and then these 9 maps that no on plays on O_o Seems like its going to be really damn hard for anyone to get through and whoever makes it is going to need a hell of a lot of luck.

So there are only 4 slots for qualification to S3 and no other tournament? In a tournament of 40 players, a turnover 4 seems overly protective.

I have to jump in on this and say a couple things:

1) It's just one tournament. Time passes, and you move on to other tournaments. Even if it isn't as potential as it may currently sound, it was given the best shot possible, and that's what counts.

2) The maps are all on the NA server, so people can check them out.

just a little more information on the concerns mentioned.
close spawns are disabled on some of the 4 player maps, like emerald jungle and overgrown.
damage inc actually has forced cross positions, sort of making it 2 2player maps combined in 1 map.
on the natural on lunar station you can build a wall from the cc to the wall with 1 depot and a bunker, kind of similar to walls from ramps. you could also build a wall at the main choke with 3 buildings, but that would leave the ramp down to the third base open.
there are no rush distances shorter than those on xnc, and no maps as large as tal darim. overall they are mostly very standard and the players should have an easy time adopting to these maps.

No... there will be the S3 Qualifier which will be held later in December or early January. There will be 12 new players next season.

I personally LOVE the idea of using all new maps. seriously, this may end up in having a better map pool in other future tournaments.

TPW are most likely better than most blizzard maps.

Great and yet bold move, xeris! And I normally don't support NASL ideas

I just want to confirm with everybody that the officially published TPW maps on NA will have the following format:

TPW Mapname
Author: IronMan (I'm the NA member on the team)

If the name is correct, but the author is not IronMan, it is not from TPW.

As a spectator I highly doubt I will watch any games on these new maps which I will likely never play on, sorry . If there were a few mixed into a regular map pool then I would watch them as they would be part of a series, but as is I can't see myself paying much attention. Just giving my perspective, sorry if my post comes across as trolling.

If you dont know the map, you adv dont know the map, every one have the same amount of time to play and pratice.
