Well for one he had absolutely 0 cannon coverage anywhere near his nat as a result of it so he had to run all his probes to his walls and his nexus were basically free kills. Compounded by the fact that everyone knows MC always goes Stargate and that deals terrible with lings in your base and Check really had completely free reign.

I don't like the up/down format either. I can understand round robin in group stages to advance in the tournament, but for something that's essentially prelims to be this volatile? It's good entertainment value, but for something like staying in code S/making it into code S it shouldn't be like that.

Optimism: It's exciting to see new players in Code S, as opposed to the same "set" repeated over and over, with some people just stuck in the system either through barely making it through their group (like that nub nestea, luckily he was pwned by MVP ro16 LOL nub) or "staying in code S" due to Gom's new generous rule.

It's fine if you have a small base and can get total vision to stop nydus, or if you can power out some sentries to keep yourself safe. Blocking a huge area like that and then going straight to stargate is pretty greedy. I don't know about you, but I pretty much saw how that game was going to end from the beginning.
I don't disagree with that. But the guy commenting on how little units he had out makes no sense at all. MC would've had the same amount of units if he did the same build more standard on a different map.

But it has everything to do with riskiness. You have that forge and cannons next to your base, and you have 1 sentry. That Nydus play will never work.

It's a very greedy opening in fact... Expand + tech + no core army without even trying to scout generally doesn't work.

Fair enough, but honestly once mc saw no third with his scouting probe he should just have patrolled his stargate units and probes and he would have been fine, and that was his big mistake. The point of he wall off he did is -i think- to be safer vs run by's; while rush distance is super long, it's actually quite a wide choke to wall close to your nat.

This specific building placement guaranteed an easy 3rd, thats why it was greedy as fuck. Imagine if he built his wall and his natural. MC could have protected his cannons with probes and sentries.

Seriously, he was only gonna have 1 cannon up when the nydus came up regardless of where it was. Check would've just ran all his lings up the ramp to kill the main nexus first instead, which would also have resulted in a win for him.
