Hmmmm. Will be in the process of moving into the new place, but I think I might be able to make an appearance. Though I won't be playing much between now and then.

Can you back that up with any concrete evidence or is this a "GSL and MLG are bigger so only they count" sort of thing?
At any rate, if you want to use shit blizzard maps I recently fixed Antiga Shipyard (one of the only good season 3 ladder maps) to be used in tournaments (the original has some pretty amateur bugs like tanks being able to hit the third's gas from a main).
Thread here. This is a map anyone laddering in season 3 should know inside and out.
LOL they have the highest level of play played on them. How is that not evidence. And there is nothing wrong with metal, they just removed it because it has been in the game since beta. And I would rather play shitty blizzard maps I know instead of some stupid dumb random maps no one plays and probably has issues with.

The highest level of players play on iCCup maps as well. Need I point you to the iCCup Korean Weekly? (Live at time of posting) with Leenock vs Destination
They're not stupid. They're not dumb. I guarantee you more thought and time is put into their design than any shit blizzard map. No one has played them because of chumps like you trying to shoot them down because you refuse to step out of your secluded box and learn something new.
I could go on about how your attitude is "killing eSports!!!111" but I'll leave at this since apparently getting through to you is impossible. I can't speak for anyone else here but I sure would love to see a map pool that's a little outside the standard to show who is willing to go out of their way to practice and who just wants to collect a few wins with their ladder experience. This is a competition where players play to win and if you don't want to put in the work then that's on you.

To quote Blizzard on the subject of Metal:
Metalopolis has been around for quite a long time, over a year including beta. We felt that taking it out of the rotation would make some room for variety in the map pool. I guess you stopped reading here.
Metalopolis suffers balance issues when close spawn positions occur, but becomes too predictable when they are simply disabled. Close positions have been under a lot of discussion lately, and we’re definitely examining better options to allow for random spawn positions across the map pool without also creating too much predictability and vulnerability to proxy rushes.
Overall balance has also proven to be an issue on Metalopolis -- even factoring in close position spawn issues. It’s among the least balanced maps currently in the ladder pool, and along with Scrap Station (also being removed) and Tal’darim Altar, has a heavy (60%+) bias toward zerg at the highest levels of play.
But no, you're right, "there is nothing wrong with metal". Just some minor imbalances right?
Back to what I assume to be your primary point: If you "would rather play shitty blizzard maps" than custom maps, that is your choice. However, understand this: there is a difference between "some stupid dumb random map" and an iCCup map. iCCup maps are finely tested by Korean Pros before they are even released to the public. They are constantly being played and reviewed. iCCup (and other map teams, such as TPW, LoS, and Prime) take infinitely more time and care when creating a map than Blizzard does, or many other people do.
If prodiG doesn't want to say it, I will. Being a stubborn asshole about trying new maps will kill ESPORTS (and yes, it does always have to be capitalized). GSL was the first major tournament to use non-Blizzard maps, which is great, but it seems certain idiots now believe that 'only GSL maps are good'. That is entirely the wrong lesson to take from that. Rather, take that 'Oh, Blizzard maps might not be amazing. Hm, on Antiga Prime and Nerazim Crypt, there are ridiculous positional imbalances. Oh cool, there's these new maps Ithica and Sanctuarium that are really well made and play really well - I can go watch replays of Pros playing on these maps. Custom Maps are awesome!.
Custom Maps get more undeserved shit from idiots like you than anything else I can think of. But you know what? Custom Maps made Brood War a viable sport. Custom Maps make GSL worth watching. The future of SC2 is entirely community-created maps - and the sooner you get that through your thick skull the better.
tl;dr, pull your head out of your ass, swallow your stupid 4th grade pride, try some new maps, be impressed, and play them. Don't be 'HERP DERP BLIZZARD/GSL ONLY' just 'cause you're terrified of change.
lol I never intended so say only gls maps are good. Im saying they're the most popular and most of the people that ACTUALLY go to these tournament in Edmonton like the GSL maps. I garentee if you ask someone thats good at the Edmonton tournaments if they had to choose between a Iccup map or a GSL im sure 8/10 will pick the GSL map. And I aso never said i don't want to put work into practicing lol I was meaning it would be a waste of my time learning new maps when i can get better and micro/macro and mechanics. We used GSL maps in these previous tournaments and i don't see why you would like to change them when you never show up to them.

I've said all that needs to be said in not only one but two threads. I'm done wasting my time with someone who is clearly talking out of their ass. See you at the tournament.
i think sc2 as an esport would already be dead if the big tournaments didn't start using some community maps. it might be comfortable for the players to play the same maps over and over again, but it is absolutely boring to watch. if i got to choose, i'd watch the games on new maps anytime.
alot of people are worried about community maps having issues. but blizzard maps actually have plenty of issues, too. in fact, i think the quality of blizzard maps has dropped alot since release. community maps usually have alot more thought put into them. and, unlike blizzard maps, IF there are issues, they will actually get fixed
Honestly I don't think it's that good of an idea because of how many people go to these events the place would be even more packed than it normally is.
so I guess there is another starcraft tournament going on at Over Klocked on the 17th for sc2, don't know much about it, but I guess we'll see how its ran
I don't really know anything about it TBH. Just that someone is hosting an event, If you ask the people over at over klocked I'm sire they'd have more info.
Let me on this!!! Clonze vs Ice vs Prodigy, we can use one of prodig's 3 player maps!!! I'll talk a lot of crap if i have to. You both play easy races, scrubs.

I don't have any 3p maps

heh I don't expect to win, I don't play SC2 very often

Children, children ( kidding I'm probably the young'un here )
anyways more SC2 tournaments are great And damn straight you better bring up all the Calgary talent you have. If the patch that was announced goes through and toss gets their buff FINALLY (and infestors get a stick up their ass... kinda) I will definitely look to take my game vs. Mkengyn back. Losing 4-2 to him overall and getting 2nd doesn't sit well with me
And why is there so much crying going on about learning a new map? That's like if you cried every time blizzard added in their own maps...? And it takes about 2 games to familiarize yourself with a map. Find your natural. Find your 3rd. Find your opponents possible spawn locations. Find the radius of watchtowers and alternate attack paths. Find possible wide areas / chokes for engagements. Play the damn map.

I didn't mean your maps. I meant iccup maps, like testbug!
You realize that absolutely makes no sense lol I am also terrible at broodwar and I don't see a point in playing it when this argument is over Starcraft 2.
thats the page. Awesome Stuff. Sadly I got no love =( nor mention, which is crazy because this event will mark one year of hosting for me of the sc2 tournaments. Lol I'm just referred to by as "this fighting game guy" QQ

You did a wonderful job with the videos you did. I hop the word does get around about the SC community here in Edmonton. Keep it up, don't mind my grumpiness!
Go Edmonton tournaments, will definitely see you all there and hope to crush some hopes and dreams!! If you havent already heard check this out! http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=261611
Excited for the Edmonton team. It will be great for increasing the caliber of local SC2 players.
I'll be doing interviews at tomorrow's tournament. I need to practice using my camera, and I'm honestly awful at speaking on the spot. So what better way to improve than to just keep producing more content?
