The 4 gate is still broken. Homestory Cup and Naniwa/MC/Huk called. The problem is not 4 gate. I'd really like to see top 4 and finals get played on the same day. Less prep time for a single match seems like it makes a big difference concerning the quality of games. Just look at MLG, Homestory, Dreamhack, NASL, and even weekly tournaments (including the korean one). Great finals consistently, unlike the GSL. I disagree with that. PvP is just a really really dumb matchup. You require absolute precision to defend a 4gate vs non-4gate at this level so why take the risk? Play it safe and 4gate back, it's the smart thing to do in a final like this. I think this final would look more or less the same regardless of preptime. I think it's just Tassadar. Essentially suiciding those first units to get the pylon in the main seem very strong. However, it means that he basically auto-loses if puzzle also 4 gates. If he didn't go so aggressive and tried to save the initial 2 until warp ins, then a number of non 4 gate builds would be viable. Indeed that suicidal attempt was really dumb in my opinion. A good way to play it off imo is just retreat if you see the 4 gate, get a second gas, add a couple probes, and go heavier stalker. The only problem there is, if they choose to play more greedy theyľl go for blink and youľl die. I dont think he could retreat though because he assumed that Puzzle had a proxy pylon. The thing is, that suicidal attempt makes all the builds designed to beat 4 gate with early sentry or 3 stalkers fail hard. This could be brilliant in a larger sense for Tassadar. Now puzzle is going 4 gate defensively, which leaves Tassadar free to get a few extra probes and tech fast. Usually you can't do both unless you see your opponent doing so.

It's significantly harder to defend 4gate than it is to execute, so yeah, 4gate is pretty common. Sometimes you both 4gate, and then go 4gate blink/4gate robo. No it isn't. People only 4gate non-stop if they feel they are the inferior player. There isn't much one person can do when the other side is dedicating to the 4gate, but it isn't significantly harder to defend. this explains why my game vs HwangSin in the TLOpen #19, he 4gated and I didn't because clearly I was the superior player.....(/endsarcasm) that said 4gating is a solid opening in PvP generally safe from tons of other builds and can give you essentially a free-win if your opponent messes up (i misplaced my ff by a pixel allowing him vision to warpin and cripple me lol) God, stop taking it out of context. I said "non-stop". 4gate is great, but in a bo7, 4gating 4 times in a row is a dumb idea. Especially since when you know it is coming it is much easier to stop. Tassadar just keeps committing to the 4gate instead of falling back and teching to Blink like MC, Huk or XioaT does. There is no reason to keep committing like that, you could tell the end result as soon as he was down one Stalker
