That's great man, welcome! The Alberta scene for starcraft 2 is awesome, and by far the best part about starcraft.
Unfortunately Way To Frag is no more, but i'm in the works of getting Calgary back to it's former glory of tournaments every weekend or so. We shall see!
First and foremost though I wan't to get more into the competition. =)

We have an announcement to make about Alberta Beatdown 2 on June 25th.
Due to unforeseen and uncontrollable delays in construction at OverKlocked the venue will not be ready in time for Alberta Beatdown. OverKlocked & Edmonton Gamers have been hard at work looking for an intermediary solution to make Alberta Beatdown 2 possible! and we have Found it! We will be hosting the Event at the Ramada across the street from OverKlocked in their "Ridgewood" room.
Due to the network infrastructure at the Ramada, we don't feel confident that we would be able to run a SC2 tournament to the standards we want to apply. Therefore we have decided to move the SC2 portion of Alberta Beatdown 2 to July 23rd at OverKlocked.
We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, and we want to make up for it, so here are some things we are going to do for you!
1. We are going to cut the venue fee in half for both events! The Alberta Beatdown 2 Venue fee will only be $5 as well as the SC2 tournament July 23rd.
2. For Alberta Beatdown 2 OverKlocked will be giving away 4 Fightsticks during the event!
3. For the Starcraft 2 Event July 23rd OverKlocked will be giving SteelSeries professional Gaming Equipment including:
SteelSeries 7G Gaming Keyboard
SteelSeries Ikari Laser Gaming Mouse
SteelSeries 9HD Mouse Pads
SteelSeries Siberia v2 Headset
4. OverKlocked and Edmonton Gamers will also be providing other prizes to be given away during both events
5. As an extra thank you for all the support from the Gaming Community OverKlocked will be bringing in free pizza for everyone at both events. So make sure you stick around for the whole tournament, play some casuals and have a great time!

The Ramada is Located @ 11834 Kingsway Northwest Edmonton AB
The Tournament will be taking place in the "Ridgewood" Room which is located on the second floor. To get to the Ridgewood you have to take the elevator which is visible from the Main Entrance.
Due to setup/Room Bookings the tournament should be setup by 2:00pm starting no later than 3:00pm

So for the star2 event, they said they'll provide steelseries gear for gaming. Does this mean we can't use our own equipment?

As someone who has never heard of this tournament etc,do you plan on adding more games to future venues? I'm not currently up to my standard of "competitive" in any of the games you have listed, as such how much interest have you had from the community to add games such as:
Dissidia 012(psp)
Naruto Shippuden ultimate ninja storm 2(xbox/ps3)
World of Warcraft(team scenario, 3v3)

Most of the people who go to these tournaments are only mid diamondish as far as I know, there are a few high masters players that will generally take the top spots but unless you are in like gold league you can still have some fun competing with the rest of us.

Thing is, i don't even play sc2 anymore.. and I don't really wanna drive 40 minutes(i don't live in edmonton) to play in a tournament that I have near zero chance of winning ><.

Can someone make this clear. For the past tournaments you had to pay a venue fee and a tourney fee. But it only says anything about a 5$ dollar venue fee for this one. So is that all you have to pay for the sc2 tourney?

So how many people are we expecting? I heard the LAN center was also delayed on opening, so is this event coinciding with the Grand Opening? Would that skew the player turnout to be people not looking to lose to Protoss players? (So people who don't play SC2. Seriously, nerf..)

Tomorrow is the "Grand Opening' (Friday) and the tournament is the day after. It's essentially the grand opening 
By the way, this event (assuming everything goes according the plan I have and am going to figure out tomorrow evening) will be covered by me on iCCup.TV!

Hey you need/want anyone to cast/help cast? I live in Calgary and wanted to come but couldn't make it... I might have to do some other casting for the screddit tournament but that'll be later in the day and only for 2 hours if at all.

The idea that no one can touch mkengyn is rather wrong I've beat him in the finals of a calgay tournament b4 and took him to game 3 of the project x tournament. We all know he's probably the best currently but that doesn't mean he's far out of reach. As for me I played Protoss the whole tournament aside from clonze and veins and tvp has always been my weakest. I'm rather happy I finished 5th with so many strong Protoss out there

Agreed with Archaic, while I do have lockups in PvZ and have definitely struggled in the majority of my matches against mkengyn, especially in the lans, there are better zerg specialists in alberta for sure. I've seen many of these players take MK to that third game or to the fifth. But I would still agree he's a bit better than the rest of us at this time but it doesn't mean he can't be beaten.
Im more of a PvT player and PvP, while my PvZ is improving i'm making some fundamental changes to my later gas timings and it still needs work.

I think balance is really good right now, so races is nothing to do with anything UNLESS its just a weak matchup for YOU.Of course there will be little things here and there that will come out as being a bit better than intended, but its hard to judge cause it could be just the lack of knowledge on how to deal with things, IE Infestors are tough for toss right now at higher levels. I know mkengyn is good though, z OP :D jk Hope i can make next tourney, just got back active while ago.
