-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Four players in each group, two matches (let's call them Match A and Match B). 2. Winners of Match A and Match B play each other. Let's call this Match C. 3. Winner of Match C advances to MSL Round of 16. ... 4. Losers of Match A and B play each other. Let's call this Match D. 5. Winner of Match D plays the loser of Match C. Let's call this Match E. 6. Winner of this match advances to MSL Ro16. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- e.g. Game 1: Player1<map>Player2 Game 2: Player3<map>Player4 Game 3: Player1<map>Player3 -> Player 1 Advances 1st in grp with 2-0 Game 4: Player2<map>Player4 -> Player 4 to up and down with 0-2 Game 5: Player2<map>Player3 -> Player 2 advances 2nd in grp with 2-1. Player 3 stays code S next season with 1-2. Sounds like a better system | ||

So it's gonna practically be Group play until the finals?! Thats freaking stupid. Bracket play is a lot better. You get to predict matches and hype matches better. Brackets are fun to predict and also see who will face who ahead. It's still bracket play from Ro16 onward, just like now. Only the Group Stage of Code S (Ro32) changes. The Winner vs Winner system makes it harder for a better player to get 4th in group stages. Take GSL March Group E as an example: Current format Game 1. NesTea < san Game 2. BoxeR < Ensnare Game 3. san > BoxeR --> san advances, BoxeR to Up/Downs Game 4. NesTea < Ensnare --> Ensnare advances, NesTea to Up/Downs Game 5. NesTea > BoxeR (3rd/4th place match) Game 6. san > Ensnare (1st/2nd place match) Game 6 doesn't have hardly anything on the line, since all it does is determine which side of the bracket each player ends up on. In fact, it could be advantageous to lose since the winner ends up on the same side of the bracket as MC. New format (projected from same matchup results) Game 1. NesTea < san Game 2. BoxeR < Ensnare Game 3. san > Ensnare --> san advances in 1st place Game 4. NesTea > BoxeR --> BoxeR to up/downs in 4th place Game 5. Ensnare > NesTea --> NesTea stays in Code S (3rd place) --> Ensnare advances in 2nd place The end result is the same, but it's accomplished in fewer games, yet it keeps the suspense of not knowing who advances in the tournament through game 5, and it doesn't subject NesTea to up/down matches that he's going to win anyway. Note that this is just a projection, and a lot of things could change with the matches being reordered, e.g. does BoxeR still cheese NesTea even though he's only 0-1 instead of 0-2 at this point? Naturally, the results of the matches could easily vary with the format changes. I don't think there's really a way to say whether this aspect is "better" or "worse" but the other advantages (stated above) still stand. | ||

SC2 in Korea is getting bigger and bigger. I don't think they need Foreigners. And i laughed at the one that said GSL is panicking <haha> Damn, we are the ones that should panic. Why? Cuz i don't see any new faces compared to GSL. And all we have is online tournaments, where they will have WHOLE MONTHS of offline ons ![]() | ||

I also like the fact that MLG is trying to reach out and bridge the gap between regions and making Starcraft more meaningful out here in the West. Awesome all around I can't wait to see what foreigners start to come over via MLG. Although it is kind of a shame that this wasn't already in place because I have heard around that Naniwa actually does want to compete in Korea (This may be wrong, but it's what I have been hearing.) GJ GOM and MLG! | ||
