He BMed the person that lagged but honestly Nani is pretty mannered and respectful to his opponent. I agree, its sad that people take Naniwas passion as BM because of his history. He has been very well mannered atleast on streams/games (not sure about the in person socially awkward part). He was really mannered when I met him, not sure why people think he's BM, He even congratulated Thorzain after the match, Both players are really cool people. Yeah Naniwa is pretty quiet and it felt awkward talking to him, but maybe that's just me. Was a shame he didn't show up though.
PS According to Thorzain by game 4 he thought he already lost, He pretty much given up, able to come back with that mentality, is pretty awesome

I really don't understand how it is BM to say that a lagger should leave the game.
Really, stop bitching about non-issues.

Wow after reading all these comments, I can't hold my tongue.
There is not a single doubt in my mind this has been the best series in SC2 to date. I've seen just about every single GSL/TSL/NASL/IPN etc thus far. This one takes the cake. You couldn't ask for a better Cinderella story win regardless of who you cheered for. This series made me physically uncomfortable and tense watching in just about every single game especially towards the end, it made the hairs on my neck stand up, it was so magnified any single slip up would cost them the game. That's entertainment folks.
Everyone keeps saying "if" this "if" that, "should have" this "should have" that - there is no if's or but's, I don't care if you are a fan of Thorzaine or a fan of Naniwa, the better player won the series. This is a strategy game, and the better player used better strategy. It's easy for a backseat driver to critique the play, but without being in the shoes of the player at that single moment, you can't change anything, they decided to do what they did for a reason. Period.
I'm not going to make excuses or arguments for either player, but some of you need to drop the bias when approaching the series. There is a reason each person won and lost each game and both players know it. 100% everything was in their control, and those who say the lag in game 7 affected anything are delusional.
You heard Day9 himself say one of the hardest things to conquer as a professional gamer especially on stage is your nerves. If you ask me, a player is only good as their mind. Being in control of your focus and composure is half the battle. Thorzaine held his composure even though down 3-1. He kept his focus, and he remained calm, this is what champions are made of. Naniwa is a superb player and obviously one of the best in the world right now, but he didn't hold his composure near as well as Thorzaine and it showed. "Naniwa at his best would totally dominate Thorzaine at his best" - that is one of the most ignorant statements I've ever read, that is not how SC2 works. Anyone who takes away credit from Thorzaine for this series win is ignorant.
I'll end on this note: it was very well casted by Day9 and Chill, I applaud the TeamLiquid community for putting one the single best SC2 event to date. I've literally watched several thousands of games so far, SC2 is my TV/movie replacement and I've seen it all. You couldn't ask for a better ending regardless of who you were cheering for, well played games by all opponents, and thanks for a high quality lag free enjoyable stream.

Really, stop bitching about non-issues. This. While I think Thorzain handled it better I don't think anyone can be blamed for getting angry at someone ruining their concentration in the final match of something like this.

Great series. Thanks to Teamliquid and Pokerstrategy.com for hosting such a great tournament, it's the best tournament I have seen so far. Tip for the next TSL would be to switch Husky out with Tasteless. Congrats to ThorZain!

Unbelievable finals. What more could one expect? O_o

Yes please! Husky will allways have a special place in my heart for getting me into casted starcraft in the first place (also aswesome music videos! :D), but if im completely honest he is just not at the same level as the rest of the casters.

Awesome tournament, really nice casting and an EXTREMELY exciting final, honestly, best ro7 i've EVER seen... Last game really made me nervous and i don't usually get that! Really cool game, eventho i'd hope that Naniwa would win
GGGGG GJ

I just watched the finals, cause I was busy yesterday D:, so I'm pretty late on this, but WOW that was so good! Great play by both players, I'm glad I didn't spoil myself with the results beforehand, those games were amazing!

Epic tournament. Great job teamliquid, the hard work really paid off. All the casters did an awesome job, the games were awesome, and the format of the tournament made the story lines really shine.
Btw, imagine if you were in Chill's position. When you lag, it's not like that window pops up for you, so it's sometimes hard to tell how hard you're lagging, and when he figured it out he was probably panicking a bit, as that situation is pretty awkward to be in. He left at a reasonable time after realizing that it's not going to go away. It happens, there's nothing you can do (except play with LAN, lol). He deserves more credit for all the work he put into this tournament and what he does for this website.
Congrats to ThorZaIN! It was fun to watch and I hope to see him in more tournaments in the future!
And I think after losing the last three games of a Best of 7 worth 8,000 and a ton of reputation points, plus lag issues in the last game (not an excuse, but I think Naniwa had every reason to yell at chill to leave), even the most gentlemanly of players would not want to go to a bar afterwards and drink. For Naniwa, his drive to win is just so strong, that he probably felt even more angry at himself. That being said he gged and everything, so there was nothing bm at all imo.

thank you tl for this great tournament . I enjoyed every single part of it, organizers, format, casters, quality of streams, vods at your little finger, players, comunity. Entertainment and profesionalism at it's best.
|
Holy shit, that is the most epic finals of any tournament I have seen in SC2 to date. Idra vs Kiwikaki in the pro league also had me on the edge of my seat, and just maybe Fruitdealer's amazing GSL 1 run in terms of one player's story as a whole.
But no Bo7 series for a final has been so epic and ended so well.
|
Holy. Crap. The last game's VOD, 17:30 mark to 19:30 mark, SO TENSE I ALMOST COULDN"T TAKE IT.
Amazing. Games. Truly lives up to the TSL name.

shit was so intense. i thought i was gonna cardiac arrest

Did we get tsl trending on twitter?

Wow, my pulse was over 200 the whole last game, such an intense and awsome series. My mind was blown and still 10 minutes after watching it I still feel the adrenaline in my body.

I didn't enjoy it when he lost all them games because I was frustrated with Naniwa Not that I could do any better of course but thats just me.

How is Naniwa BM for telling Chill to get out? I'm not sure how many times he said it, but I know atleast 2 times Naniwa asked him it's game 7 a bunch of money on the line. If anyone acted childish it was Chill for not leaving when he 1st started to lag and they had to pause the game. I understand it's your job you were brought this to cast, but come on it's 3-3 for money on the line do the players really have to think about your lagging ass? anyway Great series it looked like Naniwa had game 7, but Thorzain the flash of sc2 is 2 good
|
The only complaint I have about the finals is it means the TSL is over for now . Really though great games from Thorzain and Naniwa. That last game was the best TvP I have seen to date. (Except maybe Boxer's nukes and BCs in the NASL)
