Its use really has no benefits, all it does is connote some sort of imbalance/cheapness when it's used to describe play. This game is about winning by any means possible. The word "abuse" has no place in a competitive game like SC2 where the rules are all defined by the game itself. The term "abusive style" just makes it sound like one player is bullying the other around in a dishonorable way, and paints a mental image of the "abused" player as some crying, whimpering, bruised individual, curled up in a corner somewhere. It's just a stupid word that's inappropriate for a competitive RTS, in my opinion.
Abusive can equal smart.
If my opennent double expands I can "abuse" that by doing a 4 gate.
Then use the word "smart". I don't why anyone would think "abusive" can be synonymous with "smart" - the words have completely different connotations.
18 nexus is "greedy"
2 bunkers on a zergs ramp = abusive
Both can be considered different forms of "smart"
What does abusive even mean? What is abusive and what isn't? Seems like a synonym for whining about exploiting perceived imbalances to me.
Because it might be?
Thor drop on old lost temple before roaches had 4 range was considered abusive as fuck. Not anymore, though.

Jesus, can we at least keep idiotic balance stuff out of casting please. Kiwikaki is a very good player, he's not "abusive".
.....Are you serious?
Yes, I'm serious.
Abusive doesn't equal imbalance, christ. It means you do something designed to do tons of damage if your oppenent doesn't react correctly.
I know what abusive is, christ. How does 18 nexus fall under that category? It doesn't. Idra just loves calling every single Protoss in the world abusive.
He's good at casting but it would be better if they wouldn't let him cast Protoss.
Because it gives you a huge early economy and quick tech? Were you not listening at all?
I have no idea why I bother arguing with one of the biggest Idra fanboys but no. That's not the case.
Honestly if you want to put stuff in perspective like that every single build in Starcraft 2 is abusive. It's such a fucking retarded way to describe things. I guess he should have 4gated but that would have been abusive too. 3gate sentry expand is abusive too.
abusive in this situation is referring to the fact that you're abusing the general knowledge that most zergs wont build a lot of early lings, and because of that you can get a more econ nexus first build, its not abusing the race being played, its abusing the race played against
I feel like it's just a stupid word to use, also I've never heard IdrA use the word abusive in regards to a Zerg player. Abusing a strategy is one thing, that's how the game is supposed to be fucking played, so what is an abusive player? One who uses strategies that counter other strategies?
Why not just say "tactical" or "strategic" or "smart"...
Abusive sounds like they're taking advantage of something unfair when used for a player.
In the upper right, Olive Garden goes a gas-heavy 4 cheese pastachetti build..bottom left zerg sees the cheese coming and counters with the standard stream-muting. (Still down for me..kinda..just a frozen picture of a game)
