They both played in a LAN setting though, just not the same one. Thorzain in Norway at The Gathering and MC in Denmark.

Of course they are, but you could've said the same about Cruncher vs Mondragon. Outplayed him the whole time but didn't get any infestors.
Sure you can outplay your opponents and still lose but both of your examples of this are horrible.

There is no counter there is a thread in strat about it. VR's get wreaked by repairing thors who do splash. Zealots /stalkers can't do any damage to +3 armored up thor. Immortals get wrecked with cannon. HT used to be counter but mana bar was removed. Counter is not letting terran get mass thor with a WG push. MC had the units, he just didn't know the critical little trick where you can lift your own immortals with your phoenix which cancels strike cannons. Imagine if he had done that and rolled thorzain, he'd look absolutely amazing. Nice "trick" to get immortals/phoenix shot at for 10seconds by 8 thors who are getting repaired. This strat has been tried and fails too.
You Grav the immy that is being cannoned then esc immediately to let the immy land again, taking as little damage as possible without returning fire.

MC out in GSL and TSL what a good week for SC2 ;d

MC relies a lot on his micro and it was clearly weak in that series. The forcefeidls and storms were hilariously bad at some points. There needs to be like a ban filter for shit like this.
there already is: no need to respond to it.

Guys why are u flipping out when MC loses 1 match he can't win everything, no one can. It's not like Thorzain is better than MC or vise versa

It's sad to see so many comments downgrading Thorzain accomplishments. 1. MC didn't have Thorzain's replays. Well, Thorzain didn't have MC's either. 2. Lag. Well, oth players were in europe. 3. MC didn't get outplayed, he just didn't upgrade. Well, upgrades and timing attacks go hand in hand. 4. MC would have won in a LAN setting, not just battle.net. Well, what is next? MC needs to stare and you in the eye for him to win?

Koreans are plain and simply losing often to Europeans, yet no one is willing to admit it. Maybe a year from now once its normal, people will accept European equality? Question is: can they repeat their results on LAN? So far, nope. Way to come out of your shell when a Korean loses to bait a Europe vs Korea war that is unnecessary. Both Thorzain and MC played from Europe this round. LAN does not mean playing on the same server. While it's great that you are addressing that, my point still stands. Some examples: IEM, Dreamhack, Assembly, GSL, ESL.
What's up with the LAN obsession? Starcraft 2 has no LAN feature anyway and when you are in northern europe the internet connections are so good lag becomes a none issue. Only other reason to argue for LAN at this point is to make sure none of them were cheating. Which I seriously doubt.

It happens all the time in spectator sports. Just using a very recent example - mvp when he was on his mini-Protoss slump - everyone was making threads asking if he "peaked," blah blah blah...and what now?
We CAN, however, make judgments on individual things that we see IN the play. That's what some people are doing right now, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Haha...this is like when Idra was knocked out of TSL2.

Thorzain may be overrated for now as we haven't really seem him play live yet, we have yet to see Thorzain crack in pressure ^^. Other than that Thorzain with incredible mechanics quite impress I am. Their is probably the same amount of games with Thorzain as MC if the latter bothers looking. From your comment I can tell that you haven't been paying much attention to the European scene. Thorzain has actually attended two of the large European events. He also beat Naama live on the DreamHack stage the same day the latter won DreamHack. Live events he has played in: ESL Pro Series Nordic Season 3DreamHack Winter 2010The Gathering Easter 2011You've gotten one thing right though. Thorzain's results has on average been inferior when playing live. This is very likely attributable to Thorzain not being able to use his greatest strength: preparing for specific matches.
Two of those are a long ass time ago and at that point he hadn't really accomplished anything that would warrant a better results, meaning he didn't really underperformed. The gathering he did pretty well in, going out in the quarter against his teammate in a bo3. I don't think that is proof of anything.

Hope mods make an explicit note that MC/Thor was played on EU while MC was in EU (or at least in the youtube VoDs etc), people seem to ignore what Chill/Artosis said at the start of the cast.

mass void rays don't counter the thor strat since it's almost impossible to micro the rays so they don't take splash damage. they're too fragile. i'm thinking some odd carrier transition might stop it but then again vikings fuck shit up.

"Fun" fact: Of the last 6 players in TSL, 5 won a TL-open qualifier.
