MC got rolled in GSL because the thought of Thorzain lingered in the back of his mind

Thorzain didn't use any gimmicky strats, or special unknown builds. 3 games he used standard BIO builds. 1 game he tried a 1 base Rine/Tank/banshee build, and the last game he used his patented Thor build, that MC must have studied, or deserved to lose for lack of preperation.

Lets not downgrade Thorzain's performance with pettiness. He played very standard TvP, and simply outplayed MC. He exhibited mechanics the equal of MC, and enough variety to not be a 1 trick pony. His victory was Impressive, and will go down as one of the greatest matches thus far in SC2 history.

Congratulations to both for giving TSL a thoroughly exciting match, with amazing skill and excitment.

- No he didn't.

- Not hard to do.

No one other than idiots are trying to denigrate Thorzain's accomplishments. HE played great - that's all there is to it. Using words like "amazing skill" and "one of the greatest matches thus far in SC2 history" to describe this, however, is going a bit too far.

Reminds me of all of the fawning Boxer is getting for simply winning these days, while exhibiting laughably bad mechanics at times .

Difference is Boxer would never win a Bo5 against MC

Who knows? If ThorZain didn't play in the TSL and I told you that he would win straight up in a BO5 would you have believed me?

I guarantee MC would win if this wasn't over the battle.net. With that said, ThorZain was awesome and fantastic job to him.

Ok, but it was. There's no point arguing who would win in a LAN setting.

If you didn't think game 4 was one of the greatest matches in SC2 history, which game qualifies as such?

Pretty sure everyone else will be able to pinpoint mistakes and flaws in any games you will mention. For such a short time this game has been on, that game 4 was as good as they come.

Right, and I can come back with the example that one game doesn't mean anything. Everyone was going crazy over the game Squirtle played against mvp. What's he doing now? I wasn't saying that individually, a couple of the games weren't great. I was merely point out that the EXTRAPOLATION some people are using, in order to magnify the overall skill level of players based on one or a couple of games, is idiotic.

That was a Bo1, this was a Bo5 and Thorzain impressed in his other TSL games as well.

...and yet, he and everyone else is using Game 4 as an example.

Edit: I have a feeling we're arguing different things. This has nothing to do with Thorzain - I'm merely pointing out MC's faults.

Everyone has a bad day and a good day, or just makes mistakes in a game, or playing a MU they don't like, or is playing against a style that is strong against theirs. It is definitely possible for anyone to beat MC, he isn't like a god he is a human that makes mistakes like everyone else. Even Polt.Prime considered one of the worst in code S beat MC 2-0.

Stop overhyping players who have done nearly nothing that completely underhyped players (MKP, Polt) have done as well. The pro-foreigner bias is crazy.

Are you fucking serious? Why can't you appreciate the fact that a relatively unknown foreign player takes out two former GSL champions in FruitDealer and MC through extremely entertaining games? What is wrong with hyping this? Back in the days we couldn't even fathom with the idea of even the best foreigner beating a top Korean. Thorzain is doing something truly special, and I really don't get what your problem is. It deserves the hype. He has earned it.

Thorzain played better today. However, I don't see why foreigners are so proud of defeating Koreans in SC2? People couldn't fathom beating a top korean at BW, not SC2. Why does everyone act like it's the biggest upset in the world when a Korean loses in SC2? I'm genuinely baffled.

Probably because I've been a BW for a long time and not used to Koreans losing like this. It's def cool to see it in SC2 though.

if thorzain wins tsl3, praethorzain evolves into liquid`thorzain? thorzain seems really solid and definitely needs more opportunities to compete abroad (ive never seen thorzain outside of tsl yet he is capable of beating MC/Tyler/Fruitdealer?)

Not only that, but when BW was in SC2's current stage, foreigners were beating top Koreans all the time until Boxer (and to a lesser extent) Garimto showed up.

Nope. But Thorzain did play and still is playing in the TSL. He's got a huge momentum going. Even before his match with MC, I don't think anyone would have doubted that he had a good chance of beating MC... after pwning Fruitdealer and Tyler in the way he did. Boxer is barely surviving his matches and methinks tomorrow is the road end for him.

You said it. I think Thorzain has the most solid TvP out of most other terrans. Love his play style.

Of course they are, but you could've said the same about Cruncher vs Mondragon. Outplayed him the whole time but didn't get any infestors.
