Not everyone could/would pay money for something like this when there are so many more important things in life and not everyone is living in dreamland. I doubt most of the people who have paid will understand.
I've never seen someone so self righteous about not spending 25 dollars. Unless you donate all your extra money to charity or never spend money on entertainment (like playing 60 dollars for a copy of Starcraft 2) then I don't really think you have a point.

No, getting nothing but pure bio isn't going to be the next big thing on ladder. right. terran should be supplementing their bio with beefy dps units right? like colossus? terran have colossus right? Actually, Terran has the highest dps unit in the game. But what was really missing from his army was vikings and medivacs. pretty sure carriers are the highest. marines are either 2nd or 3rd with zealots close behind i believe. Everyone, Please stop perpetuating this rumor as it is not true. The marine has very low DPS, even with Stim. DPS means damage per second and the marine only does about 10 even with stim. Thors do about 47 DPS so obviously it is Higher. Well what you probably mean is DPSPM Damage per Second Per Mineral and even then it isn't the highest because zerglings actually do more damage per mineral and benefit more from upgrades. This makes sense though as the cheaper a unit is, the weaker it is, so that dps drops faster per point of damage received. Well in large groups all the zerglings can't attack is what most people are thinking. What is really meant is "Marines have the highest Damage per Second Per Mineral when they can all fire but the units we are comparing to can't all attack." And this is all without looking at units with splash damage that can do insane numbers against those same clumped marines. I am not trying to say marines aren't great units, they are, but making broad incorrect generalizations or assumptions aren't going to help anyone in analyzing the game. This was more to nodule than zyglrox but both were using incorrect terminology. Show nested quote +On April 14 2011 15:24 Diggity wrote: Thanks to everyone for the overwhelming positive reaction!
Just to clarify some things 1) I am married. Very happily so! This isn't a huge obstacle as I am within a 2 hour driving distance from the studio and my wife is very supportive.
2) I work full time at DivX encoding video (www.divx.com) (I actually set the encodes to go to justin.tv so if the baseline quality is bad you can blame me)
3) I am a partner with youtube now. I do get a substantial amount from ad revenue but no where near enough to replace a full time salary. I hope to one day make enough to at least go part time at work (if such a situation would be amenable with my boss)
It's somewhat difficult with my work situation as we just went through two major mergers and things still haven't settled out. I am hoping to sneak more days off to work with the NASL.
Again thanks for all the support! Keep watching and providing feedback as the NASL team aims to improve with every cast!
So happy to see you back, your YouTube videos from the Beta were the reason I started following SC. So glad to see you back, I hadn't realized you were reposting on youtube so I will be checking those back out. I got to NASL later last night so it was mid game when I turned it it on and was so excited when I recognized your voice casting. I couldn't explain better about marine DPS.

game inc / ensnare match 3 is a great example of what is wrong with protoss
60 food + 2 bases ahead? no problem..
anyone arguing that the problem was a late factory is just clueless. you simply cannot engage a protoss with those chokes (with or without air support). and dropship harassment is just a waste of units when protoss is camping..
but what if you're 60 food + 2 bases ahead... then let your opponent max out with you while doing no damage for over 5 min??? dropship harass is NOT a waste of time. tal darim is big enough that drops can do significant damage if you send more than a single medivac per drop. ensnare could have done it, but he didn't. these games tell us nothing. ensnare simply played poorly.
you defined the problem. how can you do damage when the entire protoss army is in his main? warpin plus scattered stalker placement = waste of units
ensnare actually did harass and it got shutdown easily

Every time I watch CrunCher play, I become more of an anti-fan. His PvZ playstyle is so one-dimensional and abusive.

I'm really excited for the NASL. I enjoyed the first day, but as as many have said. It seems like Gretorp just gets a bit to excited and very loud, and not always at exciting times which is weird.

But it works amazingly well?

One-dimensional seems like a fair description, and it certainly isn't a very exciting style to watch, but "abusive" is one of those words, like "cheese", that has a value judgement attached to it, which I don't understand at all. If his defensive macro death-ball style works and wins him matches, that's what matters.

Can somebody please tell gretorp to not scream like a girl at the end of every single match. It does not matter how good or bad the game was, he screams equally high every single game. Not trying to be an asshole, but it sounds so fake and annoying

Incontrol is amazing! :D Not only does he commentate... he WINS!

Well that is one of the strong point of protoss specially since most zerg prefer macro style. Some zerg just need to adapt to style like July or Dimaga.

And he wins games, and the strategies themselves are executed flawlessly. Maybe he's abusing the tendencies of Zerg players to sit back and the strengths of the Protoss race, but it's his opponents' fault that it actually works so well.

incontrol couldnt even qualify for code a. He can only win online tournaments where koreans are laging idra said it last week in state of the game the lag is horrible.

That last game was ensnares to lose, dunno why he let incontrol get up to 200 supply after this huuuuge advantage..Gg anyways.

There were some strategical choices Ensnare made that cost him the game more so than any lag. It was not Rainbow Morrow by any stretch.

Great to see Diggity on NASL. Diggity is my favorite main commentator (as opposed to a side or color commentator).

Here's my take on everything. I love SC2, and I supported NASL by paying the $25 bucks. I waited until after the deal was over to give the extra 5 bucks. I feel good supporting something like this.
Yes, it is early and there are some kinks that need to be worked out. I hope they DO get worked out.
Some observations of mine:
1) Gretorp needs to improve. He's still too nervous and not always 100% honest about a game. Seriously, if a game was cheesy, call it out. Incontrol has no problems doing this, but as he was playing last night, he wasn't there to help Gretorp. I still love the guy, and I have hope for the future.
2) This is not as fun as a live tournament. I like to see the players, watch as they focus in on their goals. The studio just seems to empty and black to me. I feel like they need to liven it up with something. Add some SC2 posters, or something to look at, maybe add a live audience in there to help liven things up? I actually like that idea a lot.
3) It's weird to imagine that this is a long league, and not a tournement. If someone loses, it does affect the standings, but its not the end of the world. This can lead to some amazingly non-standard games, which is both a good thing and a bad thing.
I think my biggest gripe is how bland and empty the studio feels. I think if there was an audience to add some energy to the casters, or something SC2 related in there, it would be so much better. When you watch GSL, yes it is live and the players are there, but there is so much energy and so much going on. It's full of life!!

So THAT is why you know everything there is to know about encoding lol.
It's also why the j.tv stream is good quality ^^

Disappointing, glad I waited before wasting $25. You guys should have on the very least have offered a free version of some games to let us see how it's like. The reviews look pretty bad.

I don't get it. Moman & qxc are both in Europe, aren't they? Then why did they play at 4 am?
