If the WWE was a sport then I would say it has failed. It is not a sport however it is entertainment and acting. And thus it does a good job. Saying WWE is an example of why you would rather see long macro games all the time is pretty much exactly the point people are trying to make. We want a sport not an act. As a sport we must succeed and not as an act. MMA is a sport and there's plenty of fighters there who fight to win. As such a match that is exciting is actually exciting because you don't get to see it every single time.

Anyway, here is why MC does not do long macro PvP fests: 1) His control is top 3 in the world (right after Huk of course). Why play a coinflip game of build orders when he can 4 gate and win with better control? 2) If he plays an economic game, there is always the chance that his opponent will cut probes and punish him. He cuts probes at 20 and uses his control to win the games. If he doesn't win, he simply retreats and continues playing mid-game. How can ANYONE complain about MC's PvP?! He is the only Protoss player EVER to go expand + citadel tech + robo against a 1 base opponent. On top of that, he won with that ludicrous build.

TL's mentality: every game must be a 5-base, 40:00 macro game. /facepalm You seem to have misread the post. When he says the advantages outweighed the penalty he's referring to the fact that in extra time Suarez prevented a guaranteed goal at the price of being sent off (irrelevant because the game is basically over) and Ghana getting a a good chance at scoring a goal. The penalties outweighing the advanateg gained is irrelevent to the 2gate cheese. Its relevant because Suarez did what was required to win, no matter how shameless it was. The rules were followed and Uruguay went on to the world cup semi finals. MC also did what was required to win, even though many people would consider it shameless.

How many people complained about Julyzerg's 6 pool on scrap station? I think most of the complaints are stemming from the fact that white-ra is a foreigner and a really nice guy. But a game is a game.

Are you serious? Do you really want to watch SC2 with scripted games for the sake of entertainment? Why are you even here?

Do you think it's strange to get upset when the well mannered guy who wouldn't think of all-inning, is up 2-0 against a player with an aura of invincibility and then loses to 3 all-ins in a row? The 4gate he did in game 1 was all-in.

And White-Ra clicking the same match in his match history thinking "Wow, i almost won 15.000 dollar right there." Must be a beastly feeling ![]()

E-Sports is not choreographed professional wrestling. If it ever becomes as such, it will no longer be E-Sports. It will no longer be competitive. One person will win because it is written that he will win. Thus it will fail.

It's fine to get upset that the player you were rooting for lost. But don't bring in how he lost because he has morals. And definitely don't say that oh MC is trash, he shouldn't have won.

A high level masters player can lose a PvP to a diamond level player just because of a build order coinflip. MC is as close as there is to a PvP god, but certain things beat him. For instance, second game, because there's an observer versus observer war and MC doesn't want to lose his, he won't be scouting, so he wouldn't see WhiteRa's ballsy expansion that dies to any pressure or scouting. WhiteRa cut a ton of corners and took huge risks to win his games, because he knew he had to do that to win. If that probe hadnt gotten in he was completely dead. If that expand got scouted earlier, he was completely dead. Then people try to insult MC for playing one base protoss? Because if he expanded and it's scouted, the opponent comes in without that 400 mineral drain, and without the drain of making more probes, and rolls him over with a superior army. HERP DERP. They insult MC for proxy 2gating, when WhiteRa plays greedy, scouts late, doesn't check his own base, and always skips the first zealot for a fast stalker? People who are whining must know nothing about protoss. People who say that WhiteRa is the obviously better player are just deluding themselves through fanboyism. He took huge risks that he knew he had to take after getting 3-0'd in the TSL. MC decided to allow him no opportunity to cut corners, and when WhiteRa had pressure on him he as unable to cut corners without outright dying. Quoted for post of the hour. In another tangent, I like pvp more and more. Just like zvz in sc1 was hated by some, that fact that it's such small things that decide the outcome is exciting imho.

You have two people going all out, trying to pull out a victory from the brutal chaos that is StarCraft2. And when the victor steps out covered in blood and nerd tears: ... "Yawn. You needed to do it with a little more flair. Make it a 8 base vs. 8 base next time." Seriously, these people put their heart and mind into the game. Winning is the most amazing feeling to them... And you e-flame the shit out of them. Awesome...
