[NASL] Players (final) - Page 84
Forum Index > StarCraft 2 Tournaments |
Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't.

Although I guess it's possible a few more could make it out of the bracket playoffs as well. Nonetheless, invites are looking great so far! I thought it was 3 per group that advance and the 16th player is from the open tournament / qualification.

So it remains to be shown whether that is really true or if the intro video is trolling us. you forget that to americans the world is America. I'm just kidding btw, I think this tourny looks fantastic.

Sure qualifiers would have been great, but I don't know the reasoning NASL used to do it the way they did. Maybe it was pr reasons, maybe they didn't want to run 10 qualifiers before getting to the planned league format or something else. It could be much worse. *shrug* It will be there for next season anyway so I don't see it as a big issue. According to you. I can name many more than 5 players that I'll find exciting to watch play. And I don't see how big the prize pool is have anything to do with what games you find entertaining.

Also to all those saying you need the "best" to make a tournament entertaining, that's completely false. Both TSL&TSL2 had no top korean players in it, yet it was very exciting and very entertaining, as well as a success. Who cares if the NASL is not trying to be the GSL, they can still do well. MLG was blowing up by picking up sc2, and guess what, no top korean players played in those tournaments either. NASL having all koreans doesn't sound practical to me. Why would they try to make a clone of the GSL? Sounds like a bad business plan to me (lets just copy the GSL completely!), why not instead build it around the people and players who are from where the league is located? Makes perfect sense to me, I don't understand how it doesn't make sense to some of the posters in this thread. Also if you don't know some of the players in this league, sorry you aren't much of a follower of sc2. Almost all of them are very well known and popular, and if you haven't at least heard of someone like a vibe, moman, or stalife you apparently haven't been following much sc2 as they have been around since beta competing in tournaments. Every player can't have won a major event. Vibe is one of the better zergs in north america, he did well in a few of the TSLO brackets, including getting to the ro4 in one of them. Stalife has been in d9d, as well as won and been in the top3 of many smaller online tournaments. Even if you don't know them, who cares, guess how many of the koreans you knew before the first season of the GSL, maybe 25% of them? Probably less.

Was really hoping that the delays/lag/latency or whatever it's called won't be noticable for the naked eye but damn there was some obvious moments. I think the format GSL is running therefore is the absolute best one so there can be no discussion on lag/latency etc... That aside, good luck NASL!

There obviously will be Korean players selected, the amount of whinging is almost unbelieveable really, although I too was a bit underwhelmed with today's selections, apart from Drewbie as i'm a massive fan! One of the strongest players from each draw keeps getting put in group 5....hope that balances out with the next few picks :S

Well, according to Jinro you can get accustomed to the lag. Not saying that it has no influence on the game, but with enough practise (and tournaments like the NASL to make this practise worthwhile) the effect will become less and less significant.

Honestly before GSL1, the only known players were Idra, Fruitdealer, Tester, Ensnare, Maka, TLO, Artosis, perhaps more. Look how that has changed. People forget that the NASL is designed to be a competitive league to grow the Starcraft 2 scene in NA. And if people see that the price money is more than worth it, they'll have more incentives to practice for it. We're seeing team houses pop up and if there's money to be made in North America, then players can give up more time to actually practice and get good at it. Bringing in too many Koreans, I think will ruin chances for good North American players to make a name for themselves and to improve the quality of North American Starcraft. Ultimately, it'll then be up to the WCGs and other World Invite events (eg GOM's World Championship) to determine who the best players in the worlds are comparatively.

Look how that has changed. I disagree. In GSL1 the game was brand new, and unless every single well known BW player switched over, most of the players would have to be unknowns. This is not comparable.
